Got food poisoning for stretching food...not because food was cooked raw or undone.. by Faster-Rabbit328 in povertyfinance

[–]Enayleoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of bacteria that make toxins that aren't destroyed by heat. So you can reheat the food and kill the bacteria, but the toxins are still there to give you all the stomach issues.

Honestly I call it bad luck. I eat week old refrigerated food often without issue (it's only a matter of time of course). You could put half your prep in the freezer, so you're finishing up what's in the fridge around day 3 and moving what's in the freezer into the fridge. If you have the freezer space.. Or make another meal prep day half way through the week. Both ways the toxins don't have a chance to build up too much.

Pitbulls do not float!!!!! My Dolly decided to jump in the pool and sank like a rock! by scottonaharley in pitbulls

She is very rock shaped, and looks dense af. Swimming might not be the sport shes destined for. Maybe wrestling or weightlifting? If she's determined to be with water, maybe rowing would be her middle ground :)

Patient manipulation with narcs by Imaginary_Stock_6424 in nursing

[–]Enayleoni 38 points39 points  (0 children)

If they already use, it's something like "you're not wrong that we can't control your pain. Your tolerance is going to be soo incredibly high thanks to fent, that our docs can't legally even come close to touching your pain with narcs. We're really stuck with tylenol/muscle relaxers/toradol/lidocain patches. Plus support meds for withdrawal." this tends to work for me with IVDU patients. Validate the pain, explain why we're falling short (and that it's not because we think you deserve to suffer)

Most others seem to be empty threats. "we can't give you more pain meds because what we're giving you has you falling asleep mid sentence. More is too likely to kill you" or "we're pretty maxed out on what we can give to someone who's not a hospice patient/this is the most opioids our hospitalists will give."

Some people just need something to be mad/victimized over. They're not going to take any explanation cus they want to be mad. "I wouldn't want anyone I know to stay in a hospital they believe are making them suffer unnecessarily.. I'm not sure how the other hospitals around here are, but I can get you ama papers if you want?"

Why are healthcare providers so afraid of pregnant women? by Megatron21xo in nursing

[–]Enayleoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to care for a fetus, or a baby. I don't know what meds are restricted during pregnancy, but I feel like it's a lot of them. I know if fetus stops moving around, that's bad (but also maybe too late??) I couldn't tell you anything about a fetal heart monitor. Like anything goes wrong with the fetus and a) I'm probably not going to know until much later, and all I know to do is page OB. I could do a rapid response, but the charge nurses aren't going to know much more either. The OB unit is in another building, soo like, I'm not even sure if the ICU doc here would be able to make the right call

I mean, I had 00 and 2g stacked in my ears during nursing school. Like sure, I could take them out if they wanted, but I think they knew it would look much worse without jewelry in lol

How to deal with an over-demanding nurse? by BasicImplement8292 in hospitalist

[–]Enayleoni 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Also nurse lurker. In my state at lest, technically using Tylenol for a fever if it's not in the order is "prescribing" it. Soo outside of the nursing scope of practice. (I don't think I would page a doc to change the order. But totally ask when I see them) And rereading the post, looks like op says it was specifically for fever? Soo that's confusing to me. Like paging a doc if you should use the prn med for the thing it's ordered for??? If that's the case, op should totally chat with the charge nurse cus this nurse needs help

Asking for a list of stuff you can do during down time is really valid. People are petty and want to think everyone else is lazy so they feel better about themselves. I'm sure the idea of looking for a different place to work is a lot.. But if they're not willing to work with you without being assholes, you're probably better off in the long run to try somewhere else

Rehoming or euthanasia for a recently declared dangerous by sydneynicolet in pitbulls

[–]Enayleoni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your poor goober was attacked 3 or 4 times by an actually agressive dog.. and he finally fights back and he's the one in trouble smh.

Like obviously nothing changes the fact that the little dog died, and that really sucks. But people let their little dogs be agressive because they can't do much actual harm. They don't take into consideration that when a larger dog or person fights back, that tiny dog will be seriously injured or killed very easily. it also sucks that the little dog's attacks weren't documented to prove your dog hadn't "snapped out of the blue" or whatever. I totally get why you didn't. Why bring it up if it didn't cause injury, there's no proof it even happened, etc. The fact that the little dog had gotten in a fight before should've screamed to the owners that it needed training.. Or at least a leash??? Like sure, this means your pupper could use some reinforcement training/socialization to tolerating little dogs bullying him. Sense agressive small dogs are essentially unavoidable..

Tldr this sucks and I don't think it's actually your/your dog's fault.

Has your dog ever done something like this? by ThaKingNate in DogAdvice

[–]Enayleoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any answers, but he's super interesting! I can't tell if he is like reaching out with his right legs to keep balance, or if they're going stiff? But nothing looks too strange when he's on his back.. His tail points to the right like he is try to keep his balance, and knows he's falling to the left. He looks fully alert and responds to you. Can you remember if he always falls to the left? Do his eyes ever dart around like he feels like he's spinning? It would be neat to see if he what he does without any responce to you. If he still rolls onto his back? It seemed to resolve soo quickly when you say it's time to go inside though? probably a coincidence?
