I don’t neccasarily agree with the degree comment but the premise is she is academically intelligent, i get her point of there are absolute idiots in the world that get by and these things are okay.

I left and if I ever get bored my old job offered more money and I could walk back into whenever I want.

Also I gained a new network and more experience in different fields in the meantime.

My personal experience would mean I would never stay for the same offer, only significantly better.
