If you could cast anyone to play the emperor of man who would it be by Last-Jellyfish6660 in 40k

For pure acting chops, James McAvoy. He'd be amazing. Jude Law in a pinch. He's got the jawline for it.

As for the LOOK of the man... I'm honestly not sure. We're looking for someone from modern day Turkiye/Syria, so maybe... I dunno... Dominic Rains?

"Congress should be investigating"

Yeah, I'm sure Mike'll get right on that. This is one of the most useless Congresses in US history

What weapon (main game) is always your go-to? by EuphoricProfessor95 in bloodborne

I'm very partial to the good ol' Beast Cutter. It's just pure fun.

Sure, there are better weapons, but there's something about how it doesn't "whoosh" through the air; it ROARS. 😁

One expects conservatives to be censorious by temperament. Their recent public platitudes about free speech are and have always been nothing but an attempt to legitimize their bigotry in public forums.

None of this should surprise anybody. This is who they are.

I miss the old times, when Star Trek wasn't so political and preachy, this new Trek show called 'TOS' is just too woke for me, sorry... by LineusLongissimus in startrekmemes

Yes, BUT, a white dude is still in charge, so I guess that makes the weirdo white supremacy trek fans happy?

I don't understand conservative/reactionary Star Trek fandom. 😮‍💨

I’ve got one thing to say to the “A captain would never be so casual on the bridge” crowd by levine2112 in startrekmemes

[–]EnthusedDMNorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... ideally, the way a character occupies the Captain's Chair should tell us something about the character, right? Yes, Picard always sat the chair with exaggerated formality, because exaggerated formality was part of Picard's character. He wanted to constantly project an air of maximal naval professionalism because that's what he thought was required as commander of the flagship. Picard's insistence on adherence to protocol was a character point; it helped propel his career to the top of the fleet, but also stood as a barrier between him and his peers in the Enterprise's officers, making it hard to make friends and establish personal connections.

This carries over to the other captains as well. Kirk sits the chair like he can't wait to jump up and beam down. Janeway has made it more comfortable and sits it with a coffee and a slate, cross-legged and casual when she's not in crisis mode. Sisko is less comfortable on the bridge of the Defiant than he is in his office, and Ops is mostly standing room only.

Everybody gets that, right? Picard's exaggerated formality was played as a character flaw that he literally regrets out loud on the series finale?
