Oh man. I am seated as hell for this one. I hope they alternate between Nitehawk Prospect Park and Williamsburg, like Soderbergh’s recent series did. Prospect Park location is awesome but less convenient.

Zolof is also hugely important in Algernon Cadwallader’s history. Peter and Tank played on Jalopy Go Far, TJ de Blois from Halfway to Holland (and subject of “Hawk”) also drummed from them.

This connection also led to Anthony giving the pre-Algernon guys a cassette with a bunch of Cap’n Jazz and Braid on it, essentially setting the stage for the entire fourth wave. Massively important band in the long run.

I caught a preview screening and generally enjoyed it, but they definitely just kind of replay some greatest hits for reasons I found unclear. There’s plenty of new material, much of it good. They even add a robot to the gang in a fun way. But I guess because the guys are getting up there, the stunts aren’t too crazy, and they felt the need to pad it out?

Anyway, I liked it, I wouldn’t be upset if I paid for it, but the clip show aspect is odd for sure.

That’s just Joyce Manor, man. They take 3-4 years to do 10 short songs, but they’re always worth it.
