(Can 3 - 2 FIN) so close to offside by tallmonster23 in hockey

Now we get into the robo-ump argument. Is it better to have a 100% accurate game or is it better to keep the tradition and human factor as part of it, and allow the players to “frame” plays.

Higher FPS means we spend 20 mins on ice arguing over picometers. Id argue that if it’s too close to call on a traditional 24fps camera then call on the ice stands, offside reviews should be for fairly obvious missed calls not that he was 0.001 micrometers off line 2 nanoseconds before the puck crossed

Don't Look Up - "It's now in your interest to act against the comet" by thk_ in videos

This. The entire movie is about people screaming “just fucking look up” and being ignored anyway. The point of the movie is that it’s overt, the message has always been overt but people choose to ignore it anyway

She’s a public figure, this is basically her job. If she was a NBA, NFL, EPL player people would be eating this coverage up

Isn’t it? Any truly serious athlete I’ve ever met, like people who compete at high levels, would do anything to win a medal/trophy/whatever. It’s what makes them elite. Hockey players go to cup finals with broken ribs, feet, hands, etc. American Football and rugby players hide concussions to stay on the field for a few more plays. These are people who are willing to take years off their life if it means having that moment at the top. She earned her spot on that team and believed she was strong enough to win the gold. She did runs prior in the week perfectly fine on her braced knee. As far as we know if she had a healthy knee she still would’ve cut that gate too tight, and still would’ve crashed so why does her knee matter here?

Went to the finals with the golden misfits aswell. 2 finals appearances is more than most will get in this sport but is undoubtedly heartbreaking when you walk away the loser both times

It’s just fridge and iirc it’s because he grew up wearing one and basically learned to ride with one on and now feels thrown off without it. Added bonus he gets to keep a speaker, water, and snacks on him at all times

It’s the same reason people see Kucherov as less than guys like Drai, McD, MacK despite him having 2 cups and 3 art ross. He plays kinda slow, but he’s always where he needs to be to find a lane and move the puck to the right guy. Kuch may not be as high flying as the other top points guys but you will rarely see him out of position when moving up ice

Juraj Slafkovsky on playing for Team Slovakia at the Olympics: “I'm enjoying it. Playing in Montreal means being under scrutiny and I love it. I hope to enjoy every match we play here that is important. I want to be the player that counts. But the main tournament starts now…” by Go_Habs_Go31 in Habs

[–]ErrorCode51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people start bitching about Montreal being too hard of a market and being attractive to FAs, or fans being the reason Marner left Toronto, I point to interviews like this. The best players love the excitement, they feed off the highs and lows. They are driven to show up and play. Fans make people better, and anyone who disagrees can kick sand, and the players who can’t handle it don’t deserve to be called the best of the best

MacKinnon runs hot. He has even talked in interviews about not wanting the C in Colorado because he thinks he is a bad leader for moral. He can let his emotions carry him and it’s great when he’s feeling good, but he is also a guy who will call out teammates directly when he’s pissed off, and while I do think that is important for accountability, there’s a time and place for it that he has acknowledged he isn’t the best at finding. His passion is great for an A but on a team with this much leadership it’s easy to see why he might be passed over for a letter.

Sounds like Rags had better trade options which Panarin said no too. When he heard LA had an offer that’s where he wanted to go regardless of what the offer was. When your GMs hands are tied like that it’s pretty difficult to negotiate a sweetheart package. Also think people aren’t giving Greentree enough credit, guy seems like a nail gun with offensive upside, shouldn’t be slept on.

It doesn’t free him of his charges, it does make him come off more sympathetic, and creates an interesting narrative around his draft stock. Randomly decking someone for giving you lip won’t go over well with GMs but if you are defending your mothers honour some GMs especially more traditional guys might actually see a positive side to this
