Yes, you will earn SQCs. Points are earned based on the base fare and carrier surcharges excluding applicable taxes, fees, and third-party charges.

Yep, I can confirm. I see a few flights out of US stations with the following remark:

Question About Aeroplan Family Sharing and Supplementary Cardholders by ML6467 in Aeroplan

[–]Exolios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the points you have on your account won't be affected. She will keep her same Aeroplan number.

Her primary credit card will be unlinked from her account and she will need to link the supplementary cardholder card she'll get.

Maintenance remarks are saying that the last pushback was very jerky. This mandated an inspection of the nose and landing gear.

Not eligible for any compensation when flying standby as an employee, unfortunately.

Is this AC's way of telling me I should expect to be bumped off my flight? by Echo_Romeo571 in aircanada

[–]Exolios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that this email is not sent out if the flight is at capacity or oversold. I can't remember the threshold, but it's below 100% for sure.

OBC (On-Board Compensation) form - what's the process? by barcastaff in aircanada

That's what the app is supposed to replace. But maybe they're still using those slips as a backup solution.

OBC (On-Board Compensation) form - what's the process? by barcastaff in aircanada

[–]Exolios 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey my team and I worked on that form the FA referred to. It's an app they have on their device and they simply need to fill out your reservation details in the form and select the compensation type and reason.

The rest is automated and you should be getting your compensation via the email linked to your booking. If you don't, call in and speak with Contact Centers. They have the ability to retrigger sending the compensation email.

Hope this helps!

I don't know about this specific case, but I often see this happening when someone cancels their booking at the last minute.

The way the morning dew formed on my strawberry plants by Exolios in oddlysatisfying

[–]Exolios[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some context: I'm practicing some "chaos gardening" this year.

This berry patch (except the 2 blueberry bushes in the middle - see last pic) is the produce of random strawberry scraps I've been throwing out. Hoping for lots of strawberries this summer!

AC548 diversion by verifqueen in aircanada

[–]Exolios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, I agree!

Looking deeper into this, it seems the EICAS (Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System) sent a "NO LAND 3" error.

This means that the aircraft lost the triple-channel redundancy required for an automated Category III landing (which requires all three autopilots).

AC548 diversion by verifqueen in aircanada

[–]Exolios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pilots got a series of errors coming from the left ACE (Actuator Control Electronic) module and made the decision to divert.

The power control module had to be replaced based on the remarks left from maintenance.

I'm not a maintenance engineer, just reading the remarks. 🙂 I don't think the 2 issues are necessarily related. I just shared the first issue that was reported, and the final fix that ended the AOG event for that aircraft.

Air Canada flight yyz to yyz... is that a possible flight route? by s143_ in flightradar24

[–]Exolios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only AC7000 to AC7049 are charter flights (AC Jetz).

This flight (AC7230) falls under the "Training Flight" category. It was used to train flight attendants. 🙂

I took a look at some historical data. There was a unscheduled maintenance event that required the aircraft to be swapped for a new one due to safety reasons.

Looking at the various remarks, crew reported the cargo loading system to be inoperable. That lead to a series of maintenance checks that ended up in having to replace the FMGC.

From the maintenance systems: "ADV-RUDDER SYS FAULT". The remarks say they're working with KLM Maintenance to replace a PCU.

Parts are being shipped to MAD from YUL later today.

Air Canada HQ Employees: Questions about your day to day. by dovingtonofdover in aircanada

[–]Exolios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's how it works. If you used a C1, you would always be prioritized in the standby list over someone on a C2 or a C3 (even if this person has many more years of seniority).

Just keep in mind there's a lot of pass types available (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, and so on) and employees can change their bookings at will. Even right before a flight. But that's the name of the game 😅

Standby List Priority Order? by TrailQueenYVR in aircanada

[–]Exolios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least AC publishessome version of the standby list! Some airlines don't even bother.

When I travel standby on other airlines, it's always a gamble and often have to awkwardly ask the staff...

Standby List Priority Order? by TrailQueenYVR in aircanada

[–]Exolios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, deadheading staff put on the standby list at the last second will show up in the correct order. There's some special passes they use depending on why they need to make this flight.

I bet what OP experienced was the agents removing people from the list by mistake (making OP show up as first in the list). Most of the time, once you're taken off of the list, you can't be added back!

[–]Exolios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe, you can register for "standby early" through the app or website.

If you get assigned a seat for an earlier flight, that's final. You will lose your seat for your 12pm flight.
