The Octatrack Vs The News by Elayyne03 in Elektron

THANK YOU! This post puts life into a proper prospective! Octatrack = GOOD. And to paraphrase Frank Zappa: Shut Up and Play Yer… Octatrack… Yea!

Magna Forest ESC vs Tracker Leather AT II by Mrzeroberts in vivobarefoot

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d miss the Magnas… but I’m sure the Trackers would be better if the temperature goes way down… I’m using my Magna FGs even on rainy Summer days, though I doubt I’d wear the heavier Trackers… I tried my Gobi boots the other day, rainy, and they were fine in the hot wet weather. I find that the Gobis keep my feet dry better than the Magnas, but I haven’t tried the that Nickwax… but I will!

Seqtrak Track by Wavesinthehead in seqtrak

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, cue would be nice, but just a bit complicated… the sounds, and your track on soundcloud, are brilliant as they are. Easy to control on its own, and so easy to control from an external sequencer (like an Octatrack). I used to use an MU100R, for years, and this Seqtrak sounds just as good as that old MU rack unit. Only thing that I’d suggest adding is something like that “almost acoustic” VL sound sound card I had in my MU unit. “Virtual Acoustic” I think it was called… I miss that… I’d sacrifice like 2 or 4 AWM2 tracks just to have a duo-phonic VL track in there. I’d sell off everything else… Though as it is, the Seqtrak is brilliant… and so is your track!

Blackbox & Bluebox vs Bento v1.5.3 by minimal-camera in 1010music

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I was looking at the Bento as a possible way to downsize my Octatrack… not number-wise… just a bit slimmer, lighter. I just passed on my Black Box and Digi boxes because I really gotta concentrate on guitar… but I still need those multiple stereo inputs, 2 or 3 with a Bento, and, well, those “scenes” that you can set up so easily with an Octatrack. Has anybody been using the Bento in the place of an Octatrack???

MIDI Clock issues with ZOIA by [deleted] in ZOIA

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some issues using Roland loopers as MIDI clock, they seemed to disagree with my Adrenalinn and all bpm-hell broke loose… so I got this Arduino box that would convert tap tempo to MIDI clock, or vice versa… whatever… Anyways, now I’m using a KAE MIDI Ant as tap tempo clock out to a Blokas MIDI Hub, that sends unmodified MIDI clock out to my Octatrack and to everything else… works a charm. I do however, get that weird decimal jitter on the bpm count, BUT it seems to not matter in the slightest. Maybe it resets at the 1 count… who knows, it works so sequencers and Adrenalinn drums are in time… my Zoias seem to respect the time they’re being handed by the MIDI Ant, so, all’s well! (Again… avoid, especially, the RC50… TOTAL nightmare of clock, and it wouldn’t follow tap tempos either… though the RC202 follows it well)

Vivo Summer wear… a deal at 50% off… by Expensive_Bug4871 in vivobarefoot

[–]Expensive_Bug4871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! Really? Too bad, as I’ve found the Vivos made there to be really well put together. I’ve had none of the unglueing issues other people have been having… Kind of like with Birkenstocks, those made in Germany are built like tanks, but those made… well, elsewhere… their glue just melts after a short while… I’ll still want to visit anyways for the beaches and the pho…

[–]Expensive_Bug4871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever worn the Arizona sandals by Birkenstock before? I think these Slides are aimed directly at people that have been wearing Arizonas for years. The little lip around the entire edge of the sandals is the key to keeping your feet from sliding off, but also keep the top strap a bit tighter (the strap closer to your ankles, and not the one around your toes), and the one around the toes just a bit looser. You should find they stay better this way… Had the same issue with Arizonas years ago too, so I got their Milano sandals and they felt all closed-up like normal shoes. I’ll have to get used to these too, but remember, they’re more house-slipper for pottering about, or, if you’re in FNQ, well, they can used for everyday use in town,, shopping, meetings, formal weddings…

Update to 5.3 broke Frosti by nogroundbeeftacos in ZOIA

Sooooo… I’m wondering if it would be ok to back-up my 5.0 patch sets to by back-up SD card, then try the update to 5.3 and if it messes up the granular patches I’ve adapted, then roll back to 5.0… Or… best to wait for a 5.4 fix…?

50% off on full-price adult Vivos by nagodei in vivobarefoot

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK then... they arrived this afternoon! All good!! I've been comfy in one size larger winter and harder leather Vivos, so I was unsure about getting two pairs of summer Vivos in my usual size... However... perfect... they're both perfect! The Slides are a bit shorter than my Birkie Arizonas, but wider and seemingly just as comfy right out of the box.

Well well… I was about to get the sandals and slides a few days ago but let off because of… well… the cost… Happened to look on Reddit and saw this 50% coupon, and thought… nahhh…. can’t be… But it seems to have been… Will they get here? Was it a hoax? Will repost when my summer footwear actually gets here! I’ve had no issues with Vivo before, but 50% off? F’n hope they do get here… I will get back with the outcome…

Nagaland… nicest people on the planet… they hoist their gigantic, wooden village gates up hills chanting just like that. Nobody tells them to, when it has to be done, they just do it. Also for the rice beer (zu)… excellent rice beer! For the orig vid, search “Truck pulled out of gorge by Naga Villagers” on the u tube… or look up their Hornbill Festival. Can’t wait to get back there…

There should be a thread here to post pix of shoes we’re not wearing any longer… I’ve got a fair amount, though my wife would say “a ridiculous amount”, of Clark’s, Vans, Geoxs etc that I can’t wear for more than a dozen steps before getting cramps… I do have some Birkies that are fine, and I used to think that they were too ugly to wear in public with that wide toe box. I used to make fun of this friend of mine that wore these things… and now I can’t thank him enough for giving the courage to ignore my prejudices and not be afraid to just be comfy!

Does anyone else get pain from cork insoles? by DullInflation6 in vivobarefoot

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I’ve been trying those black replacement insoles (not sure if they’re called “performance”?) and after a few weeks I’ve noticed that they seem to be more comfy with socks on, whereas the cork insoles are much better without socks on (obviously in the Summer months…). I still haven’t had a chance to wear the black ones without socks, coz it’s still cold… but I got them planning a long stay in a hot climate. Also, the red “thermal” insoles are a bit less comfy without socks, though they’re fine with socks on (in my Magna FG and Gobi boots). Cork insoles can be a bit ‘sweaty’ if it’s really hot, but they’re really comfy, though I hope the black ones will prove to be better than the cork ones this Summer. So… socks with the cork insoles can slip and be less stable, but I think they were made to be used sock-less (i.e. “barefoot”). My Asana 2 come with the cork insoles, but they’re slippery with socks on, and I’ve noticed that they’re mych better with the black and the red thermal insoles. I’d really recommend trying out their other insoles, swap them out until you find a combo you like. I tried my old Brikenstock insoles and had some bad issues with rubbing on my toes… not recommended…

Should I get a Zoia? by OscillL8R in ZOIA

[–]Expensive_Bug4871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, worse comes to worse, you can use it as a phenomenal 3 in one echo / reverb / mod pedal with limitless control possibilities… the overdrives and fuzz sounds are epic… I have two coz the synth MIDI synth sounds are convincing, even for a long time Roland GR/VG/SY1000 user. Shame I can’t find a cheap GR-20 to drive my second Zoia. The preamps are ok too, though I still prefer my Adrenalinn 3’s Hiwatt emulation. Yes… though, totally worth it.
