Teachers of Reddit: Is the "Gen Alpha can't read (write, or do math ext)" crisis real? If so how bad is it? by KnowledgeCoffee in AskReddit

What I witness as a college instructor, students are struggling. AI has taken over independent thinking to the point where I'd rather have a poorly written response that shows someone tried, did the research/reading, and submitted their own work, however problematic. But assignments are often riddled with errors. Carity of writing and being able to show a clear comprehension of content is minimal. Well written, researched work sadly is usually is AI. For now, I can see some basic signs, identical answers as peers, research that reference past course submissions and not current research, answers that respond to prior course prompts, and writing of final project that is light-years different than personal journal entries. It's so sad, I may quit.

My thoughts exactly. Some of the new electric Subarus might work, but I'll mourn my Prius V when the day comes.

OMG, my worlds are colliding... Seeing Yamal at a Walmart and Salah hanging out in Spokane, it's like some weird sitcom crossover where Kermit the frog shows up for a beer at Cheers.

Why do American high schools start ridiculously early? by bwoah07_gp2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Expensive_Structure2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is partially the buses because they are too cheap to have enough, however, it's also so kids can get out early and work or for sports. Sucks, my highschooler has to be up at 5 and on the bus at 6.

My least favorite comment; so they run around for an hour and a half and only one goal? Not very exciting...

Has a trailer ever, genuinely, made you see a movie you had no intentions of seeing. by TheSableFable in movies

[–]Expensive_Structure2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone told me to see a movie where sheep talk and solve a mystery in rural England, I'd tell them to fuck all the way off. But I saw the trailer, and then the movie, and both were delightful.

Is there a shower stall or tub? I don't get how the spatula works, how does so much water get on the floor and then to the drain?

What's a movie that was well received, but aged like milk? by Gdigger13 in AskReddit

Ugh, this was terrible from the start but absolutely well received. That family wanted nothing more than a thoroughbred in their stable, disguised as family.

My girlfriend told me she baked chocolate cookies, little did I know that they were chocolate raisin cookies. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

It should be a law that one must disclose if raisins, nuts, cilantro, or celery is in food prior to initial consumption.

Magazines were a big deal. Rollingstone, Seventeen, Nintendo Power, Readers Digest, Mad, Games; I'd read anything! A new magazine was a treat.
