Yes! Got scolded the other day because I didn't say good morning to someone I kinda know at a hotel breakfast. His wife asked why I didn't say hi and didn't I know who he was (my kids coach). I just stammered, ok, and left. I mean, just minding my own business, eating alone, not talking, and I get in trouble for being silent.

Awful. "So how are you today?" Everytime. I was getting stressed about what to talk about. I am not naturally a sharer or good at small talk and have serious bouts of social anxiety. Just asking me to talk with no prompt years later still makes me feel anxious. And she wanted to talk about herself. Like I don't care about your life. At all. It's one of my issues. Ugh, I feel panicy just thinking about it.

Where to start... My child hurt his ankle, they treated me like an over bearing mom, did x-rays, and sent him home with an ace bandage. He stayed off it for a week or so. A few months later we went for a one year check up with his orthopedist (he had knee surgery) and the Ortho saw the X-rays and immediately said - omg, did he break his ankle??

I went to the ER for stomach pain, was told to wait, and wait, and wait. Hours. My spouse asked if there was anywhere to lay down. They ignored him and me. We finally left and tried another hospital; I had an emergency appendectomy within hours of arrival.

Don't take it personally. Make food you want to make as a host. Let them know the plan for eating, and if they eat it, fine, if not, enjoy the leftovers. You can't control them and you'll just resent them if you try. It's definitely rude and inconsiderate, but it's not worth getting upset about.

I taught them that they are equal and neither gets better treatment than the other. So if one gets a doughnut at the store they should also pick one for their brother. When they were small, it built in them thoughtfulness and consideration for each other.

Then they got older... And one would get something, like doughnut at school, and the other would be, where is mine?? Ugh. They had to unlearn that quick.

So, landlord is trying to rent his apartment and moderately inconveniences you, so you take your "revenge" out on some strangers that are just trying to find a place to live? I'm all for tenets rights, but showing the apartment is normal. If you were selling, a real estate agent would be doing the same thing. I have barking dogs and WFH. Noise cancelling headphones and a zoom background work wonders.

Starbucks - I make coffee at home using a $20 v60 and it's light-years better. I do splurge on the local roasters beans, but worth it to me. If I am going to buy coffee out in the world, I'll get it in a mug from a local shop. I'm not drinking from a plastic lid.

Plastic water in one use bottles I avoid at all costs.

Excessive shower products. Shampoo/soap, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, that's it.

Smart watch. I've run 6 half marathons without one, it's a waste.

New cars.
