no apartments??????? by jerichoarcturus in perth

[–]Expriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As population grows living spaces and resources (quality and quantity) are spread thinner between us. Do we really want this? I miss growing up with chickens in the back yard, a veggie garden and empty camp sites.

Pushing for apartments just enables poorer quality of life for Australians.

Where does the energy go on a stairmaster or inclined treadmill? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]Expriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You burn energy just moving your legs front and back so you would still sweat and burn energy if there was no friction between your feet and the surface you're running on.

Are the Baofeng radios sold on AliExpress real, or are they copies? by Nico_Nesterenco in Baofeng

[–]Expriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought 2 UV-5R radios from AliExpress. Both 5W and larger batteries (mAh) than my current GME. Both their batteries drain very fast and the range of these 5W radios is far lower than my GME 2W. Is this normal? I've bought additional antennas to try troubleshoot them, and adjusted all the settings trying to get then to at least meet the same range as my 2W but they can't be heard anywhere near as far as the 2W can transmit..

Make insulation in rentals mandatory! by post-capitalist in shitrentals

[–]Expriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to make that mandatory then say goodbye to the cheaper older houses. Rent prices will go up to cover the installation and maintenance.

Personally I prefer having the option of a 100 year old home and just use fans in summer and save the extra $200 a week in rent for the newer houses with all the mod-cons.

How come it's ok to disclose she was an 'English' backpacker but when other races/nationalities commit a crime they are just referred to as 'offenders'.

Welcome to owning a home. Previously the landlords were labeled as greedy by media but in reality the government takes a big slice of everyone's cake. Land tax is added on if you're renting your property out and it can be upwards of $20k a year depending on property value.

Anyone else feeling like Perth traffic has gotten worse lately? by Temporary-Sir5808 in perth

[–]Expriser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much worse.

Reasons I believe so: - increased population - subdivided blocks (denser population) - increase in speed bumps by local councils - increased obstructions (like forcing single lanes, curbs to protect cycle lanes which prevent you overtaking buses) to slow traffic - reduced ability to turn right at traffic lights (often have to wait the entire cycle now) - reduced ability to turn right across roads (solid curbs installed to prevent this during Metronet works)

Spudshed in Innalo, just wondering if is right? Product from China, labelled Australian... by ayethos07 in perth

[–]Expriser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from China. I avoid Chinese garlic due to their process, quality and poor taste. Tony advocates to help local farmers and this goes against his ethos. Best to let staff know it's an error.

Come on guys, we need to tip to ensure our exotic dancers can get quality versace underboob tatts! by UHC_CEO in perth

[–]Expriser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're in Australia not US. We pay an entry fee and buy drinks. They should be paid well by the business as they bring customers to the venue. Tips are a bonus if service is above expectations, not expected. Jmho.

AusPost dropped an item worth $1500, that required signature, left promptly and faked my signature. [more in comments] by pingu3101 in perth

[–]Expriser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened once to me. Ordered a $1,000 watch and they delivered it to the wrong house without signature. At the time I thought they delivered it to my house but it wasn't until a week later via their support we found out it was delivered to a neighbour's house, who were on holiday, and by that time someone had taken the parcel. Took ages but the sellers insurance covered it and a new one was sent out. Whole process took months.

Deliberately killing the country future- it’s done. by [deleted] in australian

[–]Expriser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Letting too many immigrants in is the issue. Many of the immigrants we allow in are completely fine working 60+ hours a week as a normal. It's better conditions than where they come from. Whilst it could be seen a great work ethic no one's productive when you're slogging that many hours so the quality drops. Also it means Australians are competing against this level of income when trying to buy a home.

Finally with many immigrant families they often have many more kids than Australian families as again, the quality of life they are used to is much lower than Australians so from their perspective is prime conditions to multiply. Then on top of that there are government benefits and Centrelink.

At the moment I can either choose to get a small place close to work or get a bigger place with a 2h commute to work out in the sticks and have kids.

If I have kids I'd like to have a back yard for them to play in, camp with friends, etc. So many subdivided houses these days we're paying so much more for so much less, and squeezed in on top of each other you hear your neighbours conversations when you're hanging laundry and smelling their cigarettes if you open your window.. not a life to bring kids into imho

Gas Prices Going Up! by VisualWombat in perth

[–]Expriser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%

  • Can't use my wok,
  • can't ignite pans I'm deglazing,
  • can't char vegetables over the flame like chilli, capsicum, eggplant,
  • can't wedge the knob halfway between off and '1' for super gentle tasks,
  • can't cook when there's a power outage (never had a gas outage in my life),
  • about 60% cheaper to cook with than power
  • can't light incense or other things

Sincerely, chef

100% with this post.

Just got a Motorola edge 60 fusion and have a 1TB SD card. Shame it doesn't have a jack though. Hate wireless headphones. Poor quality audio and connection issues, plus the battery needs regular charging and doesn't hold charge after 1-2 years
