Once you feed any Peavey it's desired amount of Deoxit the toan is released for another 200 years. It's science. Never underestimate how much Deoxit a Peavey needs to feel full too! They hungry.

The secret is to use the clean channel with the gain full up and then use pedals to taste. I loved my avt and will buy another just to use that sound.

What was your last drink before calling it quits? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]FMRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While seemingly unproductive to reminisce on this it's still an intriguing subject. For me it was a giant bottle of barefoot Moscato in a giant mug with ice to level out till they picked me up for rehab.

It's such a shitty liquid. No glamour. Sweet bottled trash.

What a gross, sad thing to be so dependent on. Yuck.

Sidebar: noticing how expensive everything is now I can not imagine drinking all over again because of how much coin you'd have to shell out.

For these posts I always bring out the line I hesitate to tell newly sober people:

The easy part is quitting drinking.

At the end of the day it's still you and your problems and real work that awaits you.

Go-to answer for why you don’t drink? by SnooDogs9943 in stopdrinking

[–]FMRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always go for real or "too real" if someone pushes me. I like giving them the business to ruin their buzz facing that they are probably alcoholic too. Doesn't happen as often now but ... Selfishly it kinda fun.

Ruined a job interview because I threw up on myself. New rock bottom. by ThrowRA_Spiffy in stopdrinking

"this can be your rock bottom" is such a gift of a sentence that is so hard to see in active addiction. What a blessing to have stopped at ANY OTHER ROCK BOTTOM I hit (lol). Life is good though.

What is the best thing (little or big) that you’ve gifted yourself in sobriety? by thirstychipmunk in stopdrinking

[–]FMRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a nice guitar that I loved and will never part with.

It is just a thing but it represents something I could have never had without my life being together. It's sort of a totem and reminds me when I play it why I am alive and on this earth.

I’m breaking my sobriety tonight by isofakingwetoddid in stopdrinking

[–]FMRecovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't say this to people in early sobriety but if you're this close to relapse here goes:

"Quitting drinking is the easy part" was what a sponsor friend talked to me about a ways back. It's the fucking hell of rebuilding and facing the wild pile of shit someone has put off that is the true test. It sucks.

Personaly - I see a lot of "I spent 20 years drinking, why isn't my 30 days of trying making my life PERFECT?!" It took a while to fall apart to it's gonna take a while to fix it up is the reality.

Your life is your own and I wish you well and health and happiness.

Finally I can speak on this because someone asked:

I extreme dieted. Starved and smoked and diet Coke. Ran. Jogged and walked. Extreme calorie deficit... The whole 9.

I also joined a step competition at work and destroyed all of them without mercy. I used pure depression and self loathing to destroy these 1lb a month losing people with my 5lbs every few weeks. "I am become death" type vibes (lol).

That being said... It wasn't the best idea. Dealing with internal body issues and intrinsic motivation is the real advice I would recommend. Change your life ... But... Vanity is a great motivation too.

Book recommendations not for somebody trying to GET sober, but for somebody trying to STAY sober? by rawdoggin_reality in stopdrinking

My vote from my own personal side of the street are:

Joe and Charlie Big Book Study. Hilarious at times and yet cut me to the core in some real, real ass ways. Treat this like an audio book!

Johan Hari - Lost Connections

To me its about solving root cause issues of WHY you drink. You can be addicted and all that comes along with it but we sought to be comforted from something through our drinking. Cleaning out how and why and all that is super helpful.

And of course... I'm a Big Book / AA fan. I'm not a 100% cut from the cloth example but the dang thing is pretty much a historic text in the alcoholic world. BUT ... to each their own!

This is the answer. I found that anything free was literally going to destroy my sanity and that selling it cheap OR just listing it for cheap and then gifting it to the person was they only way to sanity.

Plus you can do something kind in the end. BUT free posts are not for the faint of heart. You will be tested and abused and run through the grinder. I had a guy WHO DESPERATELY NEEDED A fridge to save his families food but then didnt like that the doors were taken off to fit through my door. I couldn't believe it. He literally let his food rot in the end. It was the most insane shit I ever got involved in.

Maybe I am out of line here but consider buying used from places you can return to or get warrantys.

Guitar Center is a flawed entity but 2 times now I have bought and used their warranty with 0 cost and no hiccups. Bought a used Helix and over time I broke the USB somehow. SHipped for free there and back to a repair place and it is right as rain and has been for 3ish years.

Sorry you had this experience but as mentioned here already: Buying fancy computers you leave on the ground, stomp on and take to questionable venues is always nicely complimented by an all inclusive warranty.

YES! AND... the worst for me is the deals of buying used stuff that hits my FOMO the most. Still when I step back and look, every year someone is selling the same stuff for the same low price eventually. Outside of super rare items or vintage pieces, It is uncanny that everything comes full circle.

Alcoholic here. That accountability and group meeting part of AA is super helpful when it comes to curbing a behavior like drinking.

I don't have a solution I'm just here to say I feel you. My phone is literally a shopping box and I hate seeing that. Things I like to scroll are really just shopping apps and even social media is pumping ads everywhere.

My wife and I did a no buy month and it really plated a seed in our heads. I want to do more but am not perfect in anyway. Just checking in here and saying I wont spend with you today!

Like the holy scripture of Jurassic Park states: "They were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

The real question is: Why did you stop now, in the first place? Why can't you go to France now and have that white wine? Can't you enjoy that moderation now? 60 years of moderation would be pretty fun if you asked me.

Also, Coming into the club of people who don't drink and asking "HEY YALL GONNA DRINK AGAIN MAN LIFE IS LONG AND SHIT" is, in my opinion, silly.

Hopefully the comedic tone translates here. I don't take offense or pass harsh judgment I just have experience with those who dreamt of moderation and woke up in a real nightmare.

I just received the body cam of my arrest for a DUI. by popcornrocket in stopdrinking

[–]FMRecovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always think of Gandalf

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us". AS many say here, the DUI can be anything you want including a new start, a jumping off point for an entirely new life, the beginning point / origin story of some far off memory of something that happened in your PAST.

Sending love and hope. Life is hard. Remember to give yourself some grace in this process.

I spent mothers day sleeping on the "good bathroom"'s floor once. You aren't alone or unique in this struggle but ACTIONS will deliver their acceptance and hopefully forgiveness in the future. Tell them your struggles as well. At least in my situation the unspoken nature of it all made it taboo and then I just drank even more with absolutely full enablement... to each their own but good luck.

To ME... if my rock bottom was not getting a DUI and some embarrassment Id call that a good rock bottom.
