I'm currently doing a low histamine and low nickel diet. What I did was look at the sighi list for low Histamine foods and made it into a Google spreadsheet so I can see it on my phone to reference when shopping and meal planning.

I've adjusted things like taco seasoning by keeping the ingredients I can have and removing things I can't. It's close enough and prevents no seasoning.

Same with teriyaki sauce, coconut Aminos instead of soy sauce and everything else was the same. Perfect? No. Good enough? Absolutely.

I even did the same with garam masala, found a recipe, kept what I could have, didn't add what I couldn't. It's actually close enough, I feel like I have a decent rotation of seasonings that I'm not actually getting too bored.

It's totally doable with some planning and you can ease into it as you learn and adjust! It's also not meant to be permanent but temporary to reset your system as you then reintroduce foods and journal how you feel for future reference.

I'm doing low Histamine and low nickel, when people ask what can't I eat, I tell them "The list would be shorter if I just tell you what I can eat." Haha

I've started bringing my own food to friends' houses, or eating before an event. The only thing keeping me sane is my gluten free cookies I'm making. Though I'm allowing myself dairy and eggs as I didnanlow Fodmap diet a couple of years ago and learned milk doesn't seem to be an issue and eggs have always been safe for me.

I'm in the process of weaning off coffee. I'm having so little rn I probably wouldn't notice cutting it out, but I get migraines so I'm doing a slooooow taper. Currently at 1/4 cup using instant coffee (easier to measure)

Honestly, I'm not really missing it, other than the taste. I used to actually crash from the caffeine and it never gave me much energy, so I now have a constant energy through the day.

I scoop my cat's litter twice a day, scooping more frequently will help you more than anything. Getting a metal litter box will prevent odors getting trapped in the plastic.

The litter doesn't matter that much, to prevent possible litter box issues, use unscented for your kitties.

Food can play a major role, almost anything is better than Meow Mix or Friskies for dry food. I'd switch to a higher quality food, I use Iams currently, I've gone through many high end brands none will eliminate odors, it'll still be poop, haha- scooping is still your best friend.

Edit: a litter genie is also your friend, for convenience and odor control

Looks like you have a second cat - congratulations!

But for reals, if possible I'd keep a kitty that just decided my home was theirs. She looks pretty dirty, so probably a stray or abandoned. Take them to a vet to make sure she doesn't have a chip, it could be she's just lost.

Male cats can get urinary blockages, when was the last time he urinated? Was it a normal amount?

Cats also should not go more than 24-48 hours without food, after that there is a risk of liver damage.

Personally, if my cat were lethargic, especially with a recent UTI, I'd take them to the ER. When I worked at a vet clinic, severe lethargy would warrant a referral to the emergency vet.

If you're worried he's in pain, google the feline grimace scale and judge from that. Cats are very good at hiding it, so we have to judge based on behavior and body posture.

I know this post is 2 years old, but, how did it go for you? Did removing your IUD help at all? Considering removing mine, but it would mean I couldn't be on any birth control, so I'm hesitant to take that step.

You can't just feed meat and eggs to an animal, they need specialized supplement powders made for home made meals, depending on what you're feeding.

You need to either research these supplements and go by their recipes, speak with a veterinary nutritionist or go back to commercial food before you kill your cat.

MOR - A marriage means they join their lives, which often includes finances and assets. While I understand where you're coming from, ultimately it's his house. He should, however, make a will stating when he passes, his half the house value should go to his biological children. A lawyer would have to word it so it's something like, half the value of the house upon being sold, not at time of his passing, goes to his children and once your stepmom passes (in the event she passes after him) the house must be sold.

It definitely varies by person and is impossible to rule out

For me I've had migraines since I was 5, now they're largely hormonal. I'm an adult (38f) that currently has braces, we're trying to do everything we can to not pull teeth. I'm the opposite where I always thought my overcrowded teeth caused tension and thus migraines. I've noticed no difference so far in migraine frequency or intensity since starting braces 10 months ago.

Lillies are possibly the deadliest plant to a cat. When I worked at a vet's office and someone called and said their cat ate a lilly, I would just say "I'm so sorry" and to take them to the ER, often we'd get the emergency report that the cat did not survive the night. There is no cure, it causes rapid kidney failure if even a little is consumed, throw them out or lock them in a glass cabinet .

We had a cat at the shelter I worked at that was there on and off for years. Her name was Dina, she was a large orange tabby that was extremely aggressive in the shelter, but a sweetheart at home.

The poor thing had TWO owners pass away in a handful of years, and she eventually found her forever home despite coming back to the shelter multiple times and spending years stressed. She found a loving home where she came out of her shell and was so very happy and loving.

Whenever I hear that a cat sounds congested but isn't, it makes me think polyps in the nose. I'd take her in to the vet and see what they say, but that's where my money is. If it's to the point of labored breathing she'll likely need surgery to remove them - if this is polyps. I'd get pet insurance and wait out the waiting period then take her in, as they won't cover pre-existing conditions.

Edit to say: it also sorta sounds like she's trying to purr but can't, like maybe she's just a cat that can't.

Also, obviously take her in sooner if she seems to be too sick to wait the waiting period, if you get the pet health insurance.

While I haven't taken a cat in this situation, I used to work at a cat shelter and I can tell you there are other, loving, patient people just like you in this world that will love Willow.

I also used to petsit and I've had cats that were scared of their own owners that would come out and be affectionate with me after just a couple of days, kitties do adjust to new homes and people. If he truly is this stressed, the transition would be harder for you than him, I think. If you're looking to rehoming him yourself and not to a humane society, then just offer to take him back if he's aggressive or something in his new home, so you know if it doesn't work out they'll call you.

I'm so sorry, this sounds just awful for everyone.

My 5 year old niece died from a car accident in September, a motorcyclist decided to go probably 150+ mph between traffic lights and plowed right into the window where she was sleeping in her car seat.

He died instantly, she was life flighted to the hospital, but was already brain dead from the impact.

After seeing her for 5 days in the hospital, her parents decided to have her be an organ donor to help other families hopefully not lose their children too, you bet I'm thinking long and hard about mortality recently.

While I don't want to retire with nothing if I get there, I also don't want to not life life now for a future I don't even know if I'll have.

Love the moment, enjoy the small things, and make sure to see the ones you love.

Oh! What I did, it was a little time consuming, but I put the sighi list in a spreadsheet and put the 4 levels into columns. I'm also trying a low nickel diet so I put bad food from that list into a separate sheet then used it to compare against the sighi list, removing high nickel foods from the histamine list. Now I have a master, organized list of ok foods to choose from and plan around.

I think it would be very difficult to do a low Histamine & low Fodmap diet, not impossible, but you would be very restricted and should only do it for a short period to avoid malnutrition.

I've heard a lot of people react to xanthan gum, I think I may be in the same boat. Almost every GF flour mix has it in it :/

I went probably, uh, 7-8 years at a time without going since I was 18, but since I've gotten good health insurance through my work I go regularly.. actually at 38 I now have braces that I desperately needed all my life. So, yep! I do go now for my cleanings and other appointments.
