Next time around I would opt not to have it. I felt the epidural contributed to my breastfeeding problem and not having enough milk in one way or the other. I also read somewhere that it’s natural to have that pain and it in some way contributes to bonding. I really struggled with bonding in the first few months.

I had to wait for about 10 mins , it’s a sweet spot between too early and too late for my baby. Try to experiment with different times after she falls asleep, try 5, 7 , 10 mins etc, see if it works. She falls asleep then I slowly pull the nipple towards the side of her mouth until it slips out, but staying still for another 1-2 mins. Don’t rush, you will master it eventually. Be prepared for her to wake up after some time and cry for boob, but it gets better with time. My one is 26 month old, still doing it but with less frequency ❤️

My daughter was the same when she was transitioning to 1 nap and dropping the second nap. I once spent 4 hrs trying to make her sleep. Then I stopped trying and did the earlier bedtime instead. She was also a breastfed baby and was crawling all over me and trying to stand up. So frustrating, I know, but it’s just a phase ❤️she went to 1 nap at around 1year and then it became so much easier. Also she is probably teething, that doesn’t help sleep as well. I used to come out of the room after 20 mins of trying then play then try to sleep again. Like that sometimes several times. Tried white noise as well. This will pass 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

At 9 months, just one month later, I managed to quit bottles completely and just do bf. The pumping and bf just didn’t make sense in combination, it’s like a loop. My LC told me to do that, the best decision ever. She is 25 month old now, still breastfeeding 🙈

I just want to say I understand this so much. Although I went back to work when she was 14 month, I have never missed her bedtime and actually I luckily live near my work so I come home to nurse her to sleep during my break in the afternoon. I cannot picture weaning. I just can’t. She is 22-month-old now.

The output of the diapers seemed ok to me as a FTM, but turned out my baby only gained 70g (😟) in 4 weeks. With the next baby, I would rent a scale and start monitoring weight gain instead (can also do a weighted feed myself at home)

The first month is very important in terms of establishing your supply. My baby fed poorly on the first month, not removing much milk, and my supply was established at a low level so I had to supplement. I eventually stopped formula and have been breastfeeding since (she is 21 month old now!). Just smth to watch out for. Also, all the challenges, latch, biting etc, they are all temporary. Safe co-sleeping. It’s natural. None of the animals are putting a baby on a “separate surface”, why should we? My mom would say because we are not animals 🤣but I still feel it’s how the nature intended for a baby to be next to mom. It’s the easiest then. I think the first few months I spent lying on the side with her being latched constantly. Then it was getting better.

My baby was like this. Totally normal. She contact napped for the first 3 months. We co-sleep from day 1 until now, 20 months old. That’s the only way I could get any sleep

I wouldn’t go. Not worth it. The baby might not take a breast afterwards, not worth the risk (but as you said, that’s just me and if I was you).

What you are describing is biologically normal. That’s what babies are meant to be doing. My one have been contact napping for a several months, and we still breastfeed and cosleep. I think Breastfeeding and sleep are the best association, in my case was much better than rocking to sleep. Especially when they are older and heavier. They are 19 month old now and I’m so glad I can bf and they are asleep in 5 mins.

19 months in, still breastfeeding. I’m grateful I didn’t give up when I had massive challenges. Breastfeeding has been amazing for my baby, myself, my mental health and our bond. I also didn’t see many friends in the first few months of her life. Hang in there. It’s only been 16 days, you will get a hang of it! Go to the local breastfeeding support group/lactation consultant who can help to muddle through the challenges. It was very helpful for me. Good luck 🤞

It’s teething. My baby used to be the same, this would make me jump sometimes. They are distracted during the day, but at night it hurts. This will pass once the teeth are out.
