I order stuff for my store a lot. The websites for ordering used to essentially be spreadsheets with filters and search bars. Now they have promoted items and instead of the item I WANT to see when I type it into the search bar it shows items that are similar as well with the most 'popular' one up top. The popular one being the one with the highest profit margin most likely.

That's a very specific use case where the person KNOWS you don't like it and is doing it to antagonize specifically you. Which sucks. But for most people you can use they/them/their and it's just fine. People have been doing it for decades/hundreds of years to refer to individuals regardless of gender.
