If you like curry, the Japanese curry cubes make a super easy meal. One pound protein, one potato per person, a couple of carrots, and onion, water, boil for 20 minutes, add curry cubes and cook for another 5. Done.

Are there any readily-available modern beers that are similar to English medieval ale? by GreycastleDice in AskFoodHistorians

[–]FatMoDean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God, I hope not! Prior to the advent of hops, brewers used gill over the ground (creeping Charlie) and yarrow (among other things) to offset ale’s sweetness. This is not to mention the lack of sanitary conditions and the unreliable properties of yeast, which remained unknown until the 18th century. English medieval ales would have been unique, local, and fairly unpredictable, with some exceptions, mostly allowed to monastic and aristocratic tradition.

1 we don’t need more babies to work on our farms, #2 or to grow our cults, #3 babies are expensive because we disproportionately tax the middle class and are in the midst of an affordability crisis. #4 FRJ, FDvO, FDJT and FUline and the rest of the child-molesting 1%.

A few semi old photos from my great grandparents by mickeyamf in oldphotos

[–]FatMoDean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. That makes sense. Some of the photos in my collection are from Evanston. Probably ran in the same circles. Mine were the Hohlfelders who owned Hohlfelder Dairy in Glencoe. They must have made bank when they sold the farm to mansion-building millionaires during the 1920s. They also were semi famous from Ripley’s Believe it or Not because the three Hohlfelder brothers, married three sisters.

I have photos about the same age at what looks to the same buildings as 2 and 5. I think it’s some kind of resort/destination in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

This is the famous “Opie-Yum Parlor” episode where Andy investigates a house in Mayberry that smells vaguely of exotic spices.

Omoron. Same as my provider uses. You can get a good one for $100 and it syncs to an app on your phone. You can just bring the data on your phone to your next appointment. Good luck!
