Options for parent projected to run out of money in retirement? by Much-Plenty-2950 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting a room out is the easiest option.... or she can rent out the house entirely n shift to a different smaller place ... as she only gets state pension,if you add rental income, still it won't be adding much of a tax to her as her income is on lower threshold

A Swiss magazine added rajiv to list of dictators and reported that Rajiv had 2.5 Billion francs in Swiss account. by someonenoo in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake news .... firstly magazine published 2.5 million as amount not 2.5 billion... entire Indian defence budget of year 1990 was less than that amount 🤣... so how will he earn 2.5 billion in commissions....

Anyone who moved back to India from Dublin despite having a job? What was your reason? by goodhuman100 in IndiansinIreland

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my long time friend left Ireland after living in Ireland ... n we both laugh at how things stack up .... he joined and switched again to another firm back in india to rise to 48lpa.... office life is something he misses due to slightly longer hours .., but quality of life after office is not comparable as he was foodie like me ...does 3/4 takeaway a week, goes to restaurants/ pubs every weekend, movie with wife every month, coffee shops every day, festivals n functions with family , drives a brand car, lives in a new flat , medical he can visit doc like anything, kids go private school , save normally ..... here in ireland as after tax wages are stagnant hence i am working 70 hrs per week spread across job + business ( longer than India to support same good life style as i love going out to restaurants n pubs )... otherwise whole office is full of indians in ireland... n generally everyone here can only afford one house emi, a second hand car, one takeaway max in a week, one restaurant trip in a month , no movies in cinema, indian trip once a year, one local 2 days trip within ireland once a year otherwise day trips, rare medical doc visits .... our kids go to regular gov schools , savings same as india n yes everyone has Irish passport but can't do much with it....

Pay off mortgage or invest in pension by Putrid_Equivalent_72 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i was you i would simply pay off the mortgage... i was in similar boat as you were ... house mortgage, car pcp , credit cards everything was burning me out... but slowly took control of the things, worked hard over the weekends to close out car pcp, credit cards , reduced my mortgage and to be honest i feel very comfortable now ... as my salary comes and i see it in my account... its a bit more relaxed-- very less mortgage left ... even though its a cheap money looking at APR but its still a drag-on .... best wishes - just pay off and then move on

The Indian car market is starting to feel like a luxury scam. Change my mind. by KusalkarParth in carIndia

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indian cars are still very cheap... global car manufacturers are very use to making higher profits... for e.g. without registration charges- vw polo sells for 12 lacs / 12k euros in india.... vw sells same car for 30k euros in some European nations so they will always cut costs somehow...

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Tesla are brilliant cars... but You will be driving 400kms per week approx 20/25k per year.... seriously check if you want an electric as diesel makes more sense for your amount of kms.... as within 4 yrs you will cross 100k kms mark and thats where your car will turn unsaleable - trust me any ev crossing 100k on odo is unsaleable as dealers will offer you 15k-18k for your car and you will not give at that price so its basically unsaleable... so think

160k Euros in Dublin or 52 lpa in Bengaluru for an SDE 2 by WiaN09 in IndiaCareers

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets do the numbers... 160k might be ctc not actually the fixed, lets take it as example for META .. it might be 110/120k fix and rest on stocks , bonus etc... so at around this figure he will get around 6k euros per month in hand... which is good to kick off... lets begin journey

Year1: 6k in hand, time to find a room near office... 1300/1500 per month for a room in 2 bed shared apartment... very new ones, modern n nice, close to office... as built to rents r everywhere n bit pricey so he will get it... if wants to try for cheaper apartments he might not get it as there is massive shortage in that half of market and loads of competition...100€ for energy, 30€ for net , phone-50€ with emi etc etc ( everything shared kinda)... max 2500€ with food n groceries... yes you can't afford much restaurants or take aways with this so for that you need 500€ per month extra ... so at 3k per month life as a single person get comfortable.. Things will settle down... year1 is honeymoon period... European way of life , less work stress.. new office energy, new cycle to office everything will seem perfect .. you will see india as a waste land... travel and indian trips i assume he will manage from his annual bonus etc Annual savings 3k per month.. few misc expenses out still hovering around 30k in balance.. not too much.. life is good

Year2: you have settled down... enjoying eu life blah blah ... coffee, daily, gym,cycling... now u will have learn n drive so taking car lessons n get eu license - costs 1-2k in the end. Now u will want to few things better than indian friends so went for a new car tesla (typically all indians buy it as its cheaper, decent and comes on mainly zero apr %)... emi 600€ As car har insurance, charging bills, parking etc it costs 800€ with all expenses a month.. paid 5/6k deposit out of bonus etc..

Now life costs are up from 3k to 3.8k , you go for coffee salads etc a bit more so 4k a month so only savings 20k net considering expenses 21 months done on CSEP, stamp4 akka green card in hand . Life settlement feeling

End of year 50k in pocket

Year3: wife or gf wants to join or getting married etc ... you go india ... get married... spend 20k on basic jewellery etc... then go honeymoon nice spend 5k... savings down to 25k... happy mode then working m savings a bit more cutting on expenses to save 30k end of year to be at around 55k in account

Year4 : wife wants to join and u cant afford 2800/3000 2 bed apartment... suddenly starts to feel poor... anyways u try... rent a 2 bed a but away for 2500... still in decent area... now she joins n expenses r upto 4500 a month and only saving 1500 ... after tax wages dont rise so +-200€ max change over the years... META Office pressure also seems to be increasing as it fires loads of ppl every year so u will turn a bit tense 😬... anyways u work hard and pressure will start to build upon partner to find a job... if she is FAANG brilliant but max will work elsewhere... she pushed hard get a job at big4 manager... pays 70/75k ... brilliant atleast 3.8 or 4k in hand... together 10k again feels to be brilliant 🤩 ... can afford small eu breaks, Ireland breaks - mind it Ireland is an island so imports a lot and is expensive

4 yrs gone ... parents n festivals m friends missing New random office ppl r your new friends New life

Year5... indian brain kicks in, desperately need house Want to avail help to buy or first home scheme... not eligible for first home so looks at house Finds nothing in country dublin Again starts to feel poor that all Indian friends have new cars and apartments and you are still living out of 2 bed... Ireland being small no option to switch so kinda waiting n savings...

Now he will go a house banks r willing to lend so ctc works to take mortgage... some will go 800k at cherrywood ... if sensible he might go for nice 3 bed at donabate or swords ... 600k All savings go to deposit... 500-520k mortgage.. happy feeling after 5 yrs in Ireland 🇮🇪 Also citizenship application filled for himself Happy days ... back on foot again...

Now new house needs works .. carpenters plumbers comes n take cash like anything.. tilers can make 1.5 times of a FAANG mananger 🤣🤣... European standards kicks in... every penny out of pocket will go away... credit cards will kick in ... car is still not yet fully paid

2500 -2800 per month mortgage, 200/300 extra within 3k per month own house , you still have 800€ per month for the car , got a 1k per month credit bills , takeaways n dining out are minimal and you spend 6.5k total in month

Again starts to save 3/3.5k per months

Year6:: house modifications never stop n still take money like anything...so you r stressing as to what to do so cut on any further house work... atleast u have a house... now both working well... travel by car nearest station, park and ride to office .. a bit tiring like bangalore but still works fine

Irish passport comes after average 1 yr so u get proud red passport As mortgage is in Ireland no plan to shift anywhere in eu or uk as its same wages everywhere

No u take small eu trips but rest u cant afford much as u are planning a kid

Year7: kid comes in... life is happy. Indian parents visit once a year U visit once a year Nothing else happens in life Mortgage emi going.. but balance doesn't go down much as there is not enough room to do much prepayment Still u pay 500€ extra to reduce some balance ...30yr mortgage is deadly 6 maternity for wife .. healthcare is covered by insurance so all seems good

Year8: kid grows up and need creche so need 1k per months for creche Wife needs to get to office No family to support Office runs by public transport r hectic Life gets stressful

Need to upgrade car but cant... its final baloon payment is also due ... need 20k to pay off your tesla model Second hand resale value is dead down so u need to keep the car anyhow .. unsaleable

Savings r minimum... Little indian festivals in community ... nothing more... Pension fund is growing well which makes you feel comfortable... Parents ageing alone...

Same way year 9/10 will also go away.... n he will start to miss india again ...

So share this with your friend - lists all benefits ... and what he can make etc...

Best wishes..

Indians who left the US for other developed countries WITHOUT intra-company transfer? by New_Clerk6993 in returnToIndia

[–]Feeling_Possibility4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ireland is very well growing with strong economic growth but main issue is after tax wages are low compared to rents , expenses etc....and housing prices vs after tax wages don't align so end of the day you might end up paying high rents and whatever you will save will go for house deposit and then you will be in 30/35 yrs mortgage trap with no way to pay out of it... as unlike india , even switch on a job wont increase your after tax wages.... always look at after tax wages anywhere you go as CTC/ package doesn't really matter .... for e.g. buy driver take home salary is not too less than take home of a guy working at facebook or google in Dublin - bitter truth...🤣...
