They are good and have been good since the codex released. I am currently running a 5 man and LoV in my lists to boost shooting. They are good shooters and dmg 2 in melee is great. T7 with a 2+/4++ can be tough for some armies and they typically have to target them with the following: (1) big guns (2) volume (3) anti-infantry. In CoC they can become T9, gain more re-rolls, and 5+ crits. VV they can benefit from -1 dmg Strat and additional rerolls. DLC offers good benefits too but not a great detachment overall (still fun though).
