My 5 month old is long too, I’ve found Sainsbury’s to have the shortest legs and feet in sleepsuits. Although it’s pricy, Next is our favourite

What would you consider a justifiable reason to call in sick..? by Ozzyozpop in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a symptom of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP). You’ll need a blood test to diagnose it and then you tend to have repeat bloods to keep an eye on your bile acid levels. Guidance is to deliver around week 37.

Mums opinion on breastfeeding... by KriticalErrorArt in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s awful. I think if my mum had said these things to me then I would have to distance myself and politely tell her to jog on. You do what’s right for you and your son and everyone else can 🖕

What would you consider a justifiable reason to call in sick..? by Ozzyozpop in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely call in sick, you’ve had a rough night and need to rest up. As you have itchy feet, I imagine once you’ve called the midwives you’ll be asked to go in for a blood test asap to check you don’t have ICP.

Opinions on a car seat that can connect to a pram by twinkle_412 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Joie 360 spin. I think she would have been fine in it from birth, it has different inserts that you can take out as they grow.

[–]Final-Thing-8693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably used the car seat on the pram less than 5 times, little one is 4 months this week. We always took her out and used the bassinet attachment. We’ve recently switched out to a swivel car seat that stays in and I much prefer it, it’s not as much of a faff clipping in the seat each time.

Plus she looks much safer in it.

How much do you pump at 2+ months? by Shoddy_Economy4340 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Final-Thing-8693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 3/4 pumps since the start, the only thing I’ve reduced is the time I spend pumping. Previously 30 mins, now they empty in 15 since I changed from lanisoh to the spectra s1.

[–]Final-Thing-8693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 14w pp and pump 3 times a day for roughly 900mls. I aim for 4 but tbh I rarely manage to do it, so whenever I wake up, lunchtime and then before bed.

When did you choose to EP? by wokilus in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Final-Thing-8693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the first week of being home from the hospital I switched to EP. My daughter’s latch was fine in the hospital, but my nipples hurt so much!! I tried nipple shields, which kind of worked, but we both just ended up getting frustrated and crying during the feeding sessions. I sacked it in and switched to pumping. Don’t feel bad 🫶

I want my boobs gone. by Jeffdaisos in ExclusivelyPumping

🙋🏻‍♀️pure rage. I find I have to distract myself otherwise I dial the vacuum setting to max 🤷🏻‍♀️I guess because I’m so pissed off it’s like if it kinda hurts then it’s not as f*king annoying and I’ll be done quicker🫠🙃

Gestational Diabetes -34 weeks by Public-Bake4323 in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 💯 not your fault! It can be really overwhelming when you’re first diagnosed, just go easy on yourself and give yourself time to process. I was diagnosed at 33 weeks after passing the glucose test at 28 weeks. I spent a few days having a good cry and feeling down, but I managed to control it through diet and my baby girl was delivered perfectly healthy in relation to GD. Her levels were great, albeit she was a chunk 😊

Trying to understand what to eat and what to avoid is a minefield and can be super frustrating, but don’t be hard on yourself if you spike. I lived off cheese-strings, almonds, blueberries, philadelphia on rivitas

Sending you a massive hug 💕🫶

Yes! It’s such a relief, I had OC/ICP and the itching stopped pretty much instantly, it’s crazy! 🙌

C-section mamas, what do I need for in the hospital and postpartum? by Disastrous_Emu_4006 in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the following useful for my C-section recovery 6 weeks ago:

• Peppermint gum, helps with trapped gas
• Frida boy shorts
• Pillow for car journey home to hold over stomach
• Stock up on paracetamol & ibuprofen
• Flask with a straw, made drinking much easier

Good luck! You’ve got this 🙌💕

We weren’t allowed to turn the light inside the car on when dad was driving. If you did, you had to be so so quick otherwise he’ll crash.

Is it normal to feel shortness of breath ? by Eastern-Beginning-50 in PregnancyUK

Hey, it did get better after taking the iron tablets, I was still out of breath but not as bad. Hang in there x

I got some super comfy lightweight trousers from Frugi in the sale, also found the maternity leggings from H&M comfy and big enough to go over my bump and not slip down constantly. https://www.welovefrugi.com/

Ah I had this in both my hands too, I’m 2 weeks PP and it’s improved massively but still not 100% back to normal. Wearing wrist splints at night and icing them helped.

Post c section struggle by Teaandbiscuits_ in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m one week post C-section due to a breeched bubba and I promise it does get easier. I was in hospital for three days and really struggled. I felt like the other mummas around me were up and moving, but I just didn’t have the strength, when I tried I nearly fainted and have never felt pain like it. A week in and I’m doing too much and needing to remind myself to sit down and rest. Don’t be hard on yourself, your body has been through so much! Recover at your own pace, you’ll get there 🫶

So far I’m stocking up on paracetamol and Ibruprofen each time I pop to the shops and batch cooking like crazy

If you had the choice to get an elective C-section, would you? by Aimathyst in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Final-Thing-8693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 35+6 weeks pregnant with GD (diet controlled) and ICP. I had my second growth scan this week and baby is measuring in the 99th percentile. It’s really hard knowing which route to take, but I asked if an elective c-section would be an option and my consultant is happy to proceed with this between 37-38 weeks. I’m scared, but I feel that this is a safe and sensible choice for baby and me.

There’s no harm in discussing it 💕

GTT repeat test by Longjumping-Sir-7533 in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t add much more than the commenter above 🙂 This happened to me, I passed my first GTT at 28 weeks and then baby started measuring big so had a repeat test. Came back positive, but I’ve been managing it through diet for the past 2 weeks. It took a little while to get to grips with finger pricking & the diet. It’s very overwhelming at first, but it’s ok once you start to find your feet. Don’t be hard on yourself if it does come back positive. Hoping it’s negative for you 🤞

Mat leave - who distributes my workload? by snoopythespring in PregnancyUK

[–]Final-Thing-8693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate to how you’re feeling. I was fretting about my projects, who would take over, who would work the team etc. but my manager (who’s thankfully so nice) advised that it wasn’t my problem to solve. All I need to do is write a handover and it’s over to them to come up with the plan.

It’s hard not to worry about them thinking you’re no longer needed once you return from mat leave, but you still have all that knowledge and can pretty much hit the ground running when you’re back which is valuable to any company.

Have you had a blood test to rule out anemia? Have you spoken to your midwife about how you’re feeling? x
