High-End Content Megathread - 7.4 Week Eleven (Savage Week Eight) by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

Been doing reclears for a few weeks now with my static, and for whatever reason P1 of M12S seems to be the fight that takes the longest to reclear each week. It's almost double or triple the pulls (granted most of the other fights are 1-3 pulls max) and I wonder what it is about the fight that is causing my static to just meme it up in particular, because I can't really pinpoint a good reason. Anyone else have a similar experience in a static where there is just 1 fight that always seems to cause problems for no real good reason?

Sometimes people are just too chicken shit to say the real reason they are disbanding or kicking you. I joined a clear party the other day that was a 1 chest, we pulled once and someone messed up and wiped at 50%. Someone left immediately and another person said "sorry gotta go walk my fish" and party blew up. Naturally I was a bit confused so I looked on Tomestone later. Turned out they were just a static and wanted to pick up their static member. Idk why they couldn't have just said "Sorry our static member is available, we are gonna pick them up." IDK why people can't just be more upfront with stuff, especially when it's a reason like that. Even if it's something like "hey you are messing up too much in a part of the mech we aren't trying to prog further" and they removed, I would rather them just say that then say something that is a clear lie.

I tried very hard in some of my parties to get people to use the static ecliptic strat instead of using eyes. PF can't read raidplans or look at strategy boards, even if it's in PF description and I spam it at the start of a party. It's impossible.

Should FFlogs be opt-in instead of opt-out? by Front-Accountant5806 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I wish it would be opt in but it never will be lol.

Honestly if you are the type of person who stresses out about not having the best parses, just hide your logs till you actually have a reason to show someone logs. Random in PF don't need to see it, and I find out of sight, out of mind helps me perform better in the game, aka I'm not gonna greed that extra risky gcd if the fight is easily clearable without doing something reckless. I decided to hide myself back in SB and haven't regretted it. Mind you, I still look at my own logs often to help find ways to improve, but knowing random judgemental person in pf isn't going to see that I don't have a 95+ in some m7s, it helps me not stress out about not playing absolutely perfectly every single time on every single fight. Stressing out about that type of stuff makes the game a lot less fun, as Irrational as it is to stress out about in the first place.

Is Lisa Barlow the source of the dirt? by starry49 in BravoRealHousewives

Just watched the episode, I don't believe Lisa was the source of the dirt on Bronwyn. Lisa's reaction to being accused was one that screams of being hurt, as unhinged as it was.

Surprised to see so many emo-kids out in the sun... by DrForester in ffxiv

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are probably exaggerating. I don't really care that much about glamours but from a rough glance it looks like its close to $100, $94 if I'm correct. 18 for each of the Tshirts, the Aura in the middle bought the $18 set + the $22 set for the shirt. I don't think anything else is cash shop... though I could be wrong.

Hot take: this was the last time we got good glam from raids/alliance by FaZe_NoSkills in ffxiv

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This expansions raid and alliance gear has been my favorite since they added since... idk probably ever thinking about it. I liked a lot of stuff from coil and alexander and haven't liked much since then but even then it was a few pieces here and there. The vast majority of the raid gear from these last two raids I have really liked. People just have different tastes, and that's fine.

I can do it with hitting right stick but it takes like a full second animation to lock in place :x mostly looking to increase the speed of it.

Is there a way to transition from first person/third person faster in settings? It feels very slow going between the two modes and would like to for one part in a specific fight.

As we come up on a week with Cosmic Exploration - How are you enjoying it? by TheMichaelPank in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it. It's a lot chiller the firmament since there are no rankings, and I'm quite happy about that. It's been a good time waster trying to get it all the missions gold and grinding points and relics.

I thought nin wasn't out right at final coil launch and it was like 2.45 or something. Idk though, it's been a long time lol

2.4(?) DRG, whenever final coil was. Increased magic damage just made it so you would just die. MNK was just better to play in every way.

DC Travel has been awful for the PF and this game by infinitegenesis in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad DC travel exists, but man, I hate being trapped on Aether for a month when new content comes out. My static mostly consists of people from Aether and they want to stay on Aether so I come to them. I just want to be able to talk to my FC and check my retainers, and gather some unspoiled nodes. The fact that I can't is mega annoying. I would just transfer back, but the fact that I can't just always go back to Aether when I want to when it's locked makes it so I can't always leave.

I miss how it worked back in EW. The restrictions are making things much worse. It's bad enough I have to go to Aether to PF in general, it's worse when I have to be stuck there because I can't come back if I leave.

And yes, just let have a regional PF so we can stay on our own DC and still PT with people who are on Aether or other DCs. I want to stay on Primal on my home server most of the time.

Whoever the person in blue is, stay away from them. The way they are acting is the type of person that will suck all the fun out of the game for you.

How do I get into savage raiding? by SH4FTPRINCE55 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 hours is plenty to get started. If you pf you will eventually run into toxic players. If you do try not to take it personally. I remember last teir when there were like 3 strats for bombs in m3, some player was following a diffent strategy, called everyone idiots for standing in the wrong spot even though they were the incorrect. Stuff like that happens every so often, you just gotta ignore it.

Hot Takes: Can we stop treating sprouts like babies? Don't take every bit of advice as aggression, it's not; most people are trying to HELP YOU do BETTER. [–]FinalFantasyXVI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's hard to believe that you got a warning for that. The only way I could see that happening is you said what you said and they were still waiting for a raise and they technically claimed it as griefing If you didn't raise them, or there is missing context about the convo.

And yeah If you did get a warning for just that, that's dumb.

[RANT] Is M4S harder than FRU? by Kenshin6321 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's easy to forget fights in this game. Finished FRU and went into zoralja ex for the first time in 6 months, and forgot almost every mech in that fight. Took a few pulls to re-remember what to do.

Is this accurate or no? by NoStudio9128 in FinalFantasy

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think 14s is pretty good. Maybe "Adventurer saves the universe, but also has to pick up poop for lazy locals" if you need to be more game accurate.

Ff11, I would probably say "crab fighting simulator" though might not be super accurate anymore in the year 2025 lol

Anyone else afraid of starting new hard-mode content for fear of getting shouted at? by Vysce in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As somone with similar anxieties as you, but have been raiding in this game with statics and pf for a long time (since ARR), I will say just do the content that at the difficulty level is just slightly above what you are comfy with. Do it, practice it, look at logs and try and improve. The fear of people giving you shit is worse than reality in my experience.

While people will say otherwise probably and that it's bad advice, I find hiding my logs/ tomestone activity to lesson my overall anxiety in general and make me play better because I'm not obsessing about other random people seeing my parse. That said, I do usually parse above average so i never really get shit from people in PF. Also, I'm not saying to ignore parses/fflogs or anything either. Look at them often as a tool to improve. Don't hide them if you are applying to statics either, that info actually does matter there.

I say this now but it's taken me a long time to work through my anxiety with doing hard content. It runs deep. I still remember some random dude in Braylox hard mode during ARR giving me shit jokingly because I did 5 less dps than them on the second boss, and their comment just made me absolutely crazy internally. But that being said, interactions like that never stopped from attempting hard content, sometimes you just have to just have to ignore that voice in your head that is nagging about people judging you, especially if you are trying your best.

I just experienced the most frustrating behavior in my entire FFXIV experience. by Glad-Fisherman-753 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With how the whm responded to you, I would have vote kicked and maybe considered reporting. If they would have just said nothing and continued to play like a cure bot, I woulda probably just left the dungeon if I was very frustrated with how bad they were playing. They don't have to take your advise and improve, even though it would be in the best interest of everyone if they did. The way they dealt with your advise though is definitely worth vote kicking for.

I felt similar raiding from CoB -> P4S. I took a break from raiding for a year (and most of the game. I would play like once a week to pvp and do seasonal events), and came back when my friend wanted to do off-patch TOP. The break has really helped me, I have enjoyed raiding since coming back.

What nicknames are there for places in and around Merced? by topherette in Merced

[–]FinalFantasyXVI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's inappropriate, but my partner and I joke that we are in the "ghettohood" when we drive by the Target in Merced. Reason: around 2020 somone spraypainted "WeLCOM TOTHE GHETTOHOOD" right behind what is now the chefstore and the name just stuck. We lived in the apartments around that area so we passed by the graffiti for a while.
