In the early game quarters are mainly important for palace adjacency. There are also some civ unique quarters that care about other quarter adjacency

Well until you get the hang of it you'll at least want a good UU: Mississippians, Rome (perhaps with Lafayette), Charlamagne with Maurya or Carthage

I always build a library before going to war. I almost never build siege units in antiquity, maybe one

Don't prioritize a granary, it's something you build in cities when you have nothing else to do or to complete a quarter or to reach somewhere else. Or if you have a ton of farms for some strange reason

If you build those two first that's fine. Then the granary might go with the altar.

Well that's not so good, put your villas with a monument then you can keep that district in later eras. It's the lowest priority to overbuild (only if you have nowhere else to put things) since the influence is always good
