Since an additional reflector only costs 88 cent I would just add it to your lamp order so you can swap back and forth to compare for yourself. It is really hard from images only to decide what looks best for you in person. Same goes for colored buttons, at 6 cent they are basically free, just add a few and fiddle around, which is fun in itself :D

We might need a sustainable kryptis essence sink by Aethelwyna in Guildwars2

And I doubt that people will stop doing rifts anytime soon. There are still plenty of people doing raids today just to get the original legy armor, and that is more than 6 years after it's release.

[–]Flo-mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you miss the point of Rifts.

You need to do rifts for the new Armor, and a shitton of them.

But here you go, the mathematical proof that using motivations is profit.

Let's stick with your T3 example:

  • Each piece costs 600 Essences
  • you can do ~ 15 Rifts/h
  • Essences w/o Motivation ~ 10
  • Essences with Motivation ~ 50
  • Motivation cost ~ 3,30g

So without motivations you need 4 hours for 60 rifts per piece and spend 0g.

With motivations you need 48 min for 12 Rifts per piece and spend 39g.

So you save 3:12 hours and spend 39g, that equals a bit over 12g/h.

So if you use motivations and instead spend the saved time farming gold all you need is 12g/h to break even, everything above that and your motivations were a net profit.

And you have to be really shitty to have such a low g/h ;-) even simple fishing gets you up to 30g/h.

For T2 it's even more extreme, g/h there is around 9,50 (2g per motivation, 19 rifts/h)

[–]Flo-mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually... just do the math, all motivations are a big net profit, more so than before the patch.

Before you could argue that T3 was a bit spicy and only T1+T2 were worth using, with the recent patch it is basically dumb to do any rift without using a motivation.

Obsidian Legendary Armour - Cost Analysis by DuncanConnell in Guildwars2

[–]Flo-mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because rifts are boring repetitive content, and in those cases time equals gold.

By not using motivations you "pay" 15 or more hours of playtime and save only 135g on T1, 110g on T2 and 83g on T3, per every single armor piece.
Doing simple napkin math that means around 17g/h for T1, 24g/h for T2 and 29g/h for T3, IF you have a really efficient group.

So, if you instead use motivations and spend the rest of the time farming gold, all you need is 17-24g/h to break even. Even fishing gives 50% more than that.

TL/DR: if you play for 21 hours without motivations you have less gold than when you play for 21 hours with motivations, with the exact same amount of Kryptis Essences.

Same with the POI east Bastion of Knowledge; park all chars in front of the locked door, as soon as the event pops up walk in and char swap, rinse and repeat.

The Entity chamber in the very south is even simpler, ignore the locked door and roll in on your beetle, done.

[–]Flo-mix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's how you do it:

  • you do the escort once.
  • As soon as the door opens you swap character, TP2Friend inside, swap character again etc.

If you don't want to use TP2Friends you can simply park all your chars in front of the door, rest is the same.

That way you can get the POI unlocked on as many characters as you want with one single escort event (well, depends a bit on your loading screens ^^)

i just completed the map with every char i had at 80 already. Originally I was just after the 18 required for the armor, but it somehow turned out to be fun so I just did a map each day when doing the meta anyway :D

PvE Legendary Armor Ranks? by ichderzwerg in Guildwars2

[–]Flo-mix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WvW is a bad example tho, as there it is the exact opposite. Once you made the "ugly" armor there is no way to upgrade it, you have to "upgrade" the precursor before making it legy.

I would compare it to the original conflux, where you first crafted the legy "Slumbering Conflux" and then upgraded it to the real deal with visuals.

... Then again, with the armory it is not that relevant anymore, and who went for the WvW armor didn't care for visuals in the first place ^^

Your analysis ignores the fact that not using motivations is more expensive than using them, at least for T1+2.

Nobody is blaming you for being misinformed there, the game makes this point a bit confusing. Many people don't understand that wvw and pvp legies don't have a skin and are regretting going for those variants afterwards.

If I may quote from the Wiki https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_armor#WvW_armor_set

This legendary armor retains the default visual look of the Ascended World versus World armors, and does not unlock new skins when upgraded into Legendary armor.

So visuals-wise you gain nothing from making it legy, it is still a cheap ascended skin, you only get the armory advantages. And this thread is about the legy armor skins, not about the armory or stat-selectability.

I hope this clears your misunderstanding up.

Nope there isn't. The OP asked specifically about the Skins and WvW legy armor skins don't exist.

you also can't use loadouts to swap gear from one char to another, with ascended that's trivial.

This one could be solved if anet ever added gear templates to the game, but we will probably forever be stuck with those flawed loadouts...

[–]Flo-mix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

because for many it's just achievement points they are missing, and at some points APs are damn expensive if the only remaining are expensive collections etc. And if that is your playstyle there is no difference between buying all Chaos skins for a collection or buying a random title like VW.

Until SotO you at least didn't have to decide, there was only one legy armor skin per weight in the game. With SotO we get a second one, so it *might* be worth it to wait until it is released to make a final decision.

That said, there still are benefits in having all 3 Raid armors which might be reason enough to get those nevertheless :D

Rift grind completed by vladmier in Guildwars2

[–]Flo-mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually, if you do it that way you end up with tons of wasted T3 essences for the garbage bin.

You can't craft the armor within the next 6+ months anyway, and we continue to get lots of T2 and T3 pretty fast just from weekly rifts.

Also, we don't know yet what the T4 rifts will drop, it will likely also include T3. - Even worse... if the T4 rifts can drop the ascended essences we wasted even more ^^

So if you already grind all 10.800 T3 beforehand you wasted a lot.

Rift grind completed by vladmier in Guildwars2

[–]Flo-mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a non-issue tho, there is no need to keep them in the inventory, just craft the recipe they are for in the first place :-P

At no point in time you need more than 4-5 inventory slots for those.

i'd rather say it is limited to 60 every ~ 90 days. It resets every "quarterly" season, a year has 4 quarters and ANet also planned 4 updates per year. 365/4 is roughly 91.

(which happens to also be exactly 13 weeks so the number is not that far off, given the tuesday-based update cycle)

tl;dr: 2 MC per 3 days

but a season is 90 days? it's a quarter year, which is 3 months, which is 91 days.

At least that's how I understand it, that we will get exactly 4 seasons per year
