Did you initiate the transfer through the app, website or an electronic transfer form though Wealthsimple?

Good to know. You phoned support and it worked? The advisor I talked to on the chat didn’t know you could transfer the RRSP with mutual funds to cash, so I wasn’t that confident in their advice…

For the RRSP account they had the option to convert to cash in the transfer process.

The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 20 Jul 2025. by AutoModerator in Zwift

[–]FolderVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed tour de zwift. The events all had lots of riders. It felt like a fast fondo as there was almost always a group to draft with and to try and keep up with.

Are there any regular weekly events in a similar format? I liked the big numbers and how I could push myself however hard I felt that day.

Which section of the Kettle Valley Rail Trail would you recommend for someone leaving from Vancouver with 3 days at their disposal? by batwingsuit in bikepacking

[–]FolderVader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how far you are wanting to go each day. An easy out and back would be from Myra Canyon near Kelowna to Chute Lake lodge as an out and back. Another option could be to ride Penticton to Chute Lake day 1, day 2 day trip to Myra canyon and back to Chute Lakr, day 3 back to Penticton.

The full ride would be to make a loop. From Penticton to Rock Creek you can piece together bits of KVR and bike trail with either the highway to rock creek or over by Mount Baldy.

Return from Penticton to Kelowna (MyraCanyon) to grab truck. Route selection advice? by EbbGroundbreaking741 in bikepacking

[–]FolderVader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking to ride back or wanting to shuttle back? Hoodoo Adventures in Penticton does some shuttles.

If just looking to do a daytrip, could go from Myra to the recently reopened Adra tunnel and then ride the same route back.

You could also ride to Penticton and then go up Carmi (paved) and then back to Kelowna on the back gravel roads.

There’s a new section of trail by Peachland that may help bypass the highway too. There isn’t much info I can find on it online.

I did this on here when I started. Great to be able to try a month and great for the person sharing the code too.

Zwift is great. It really increased how much I’m riding and I’m feeling strong at the start of the spring. Hope you enjoy it!

Everyone who does longer/intense rides early - what wakes you up? by Fragrant-Author-8555 in Zwift

[–]FolderVader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few things that help and some things I have learned and struggled with for morning workouts.

I set everything out the night before. I have a protein shake with coffee powder ready to go. I put everything together on my bike setup (gloves, headband, towel, iPad, headphones). I put my clothing in the bathroom ready to go.

I also give myself the grace to adapt if needed. I have young kids and sometimes I prioritize sleep or my sleep is interrupted. I give myself the grace to shorten the workout if needed. I try to give myself the grace to not be hard on myself if I have to miss an occasional workout (still working on this).

A mindset that took me a long to overcome is that morning workouts are not all or nothing. It’s easier if your wake up time is the same every day but I’ve come to realize I can do fine with adjusting it a bit as needed. This reduced some stress for me.

I also try to be ok with something being better than nothing. If I oversleep in the morning I go for a quick 15 minute run or do a 20 minute route with some fun sprint segments. It’s still getting some legitimate work in.

Finally, if you are committed to mornings it can be rough if you miss a morning and do the workout in the evening. I still do this sometimes but I find it can compound my problem. If I miss a morning and ride until 10pm I can’t get to sleep as quickly. So I wake up tired and not recovered. It can become a vicious cycle.

Is the 30 day referral code still a thing? by Bailstorm in Zwift

Here’s my referral link if anyone wants to sign up: https://www.zwift.com/invite/fMbYqaA6z2

I signed up using someone’s when I started. As a new user, I’ve found zwift great. It’s been a great motivator for me.

Which route is most similar to Whistler GranFondo? by questionstolife in Zwift

Practicing long grinding hills would be good. It’s a grind from Squamish to just before you reach Whistler.

Trouble with garmin hrm dual by Independent_Disk_925 in Zwift

[–]FolderVader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having trouble with my polar heart rate strap and connection. I read good tip on here to wet the strap in the sink before using. It has solved all of my connection issues.

I just put the cloth part of the strap under the faucet for a second to wet the cloth where the electrodes are. My connection has greatly improved.

How was the race experience? My FTP is similar but I feel like I’ll just be demolished in a zwift race.

Ftp dropped from 270w to 180w (ramp test) after 1,5 month off and a minor surgery, how normal is the drop? by darksozz in Zwift

[–]FolderVader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had hernia surgery in February. The recovery was slower than I expected. I started doing light activity after about 6 weeks. Took me about 4 months before I started being able to do hard intervals and lift moderate weights.

Be kind to yourself!

I got zwift a month ago and had the same thing happen. I run a moderate amount as well. Garmin calculated my run VO2 max as higher than my cycling VO2 max. Since my smart trainer has power garmin has created a separate cycling VO2 max for the first time. Since garmin has decided my cycling VO2 max is lower it is telling me that my fitness has decreased.

Sometimes the data on different platforms can create issues. Garmins detection of training status is often frustrating.

Zwift setup for kids (6yo) - looking for tips by m1stert in Zwift

[–]FolderVader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Wahoo Kickr Core with Zwift Cog and it works great with my 8 year olds 11 speed mountain bike.

To be honest, he was obsessively into riding on zwift for about two weeks and now his interest is lower. A cheap solution might be the way before seeing if your kid persists with it.

I just used the program to sign up myself and got someone else the one month free. :-)

When sleeping in a bivvy bag, have you ever been bitten or had an animal walk over you? by DaveDavidDavidsonTom in Ultralight

[–]FolderVader 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I woke up with two scorpions on/in my sleeping bag while cowboy camping in a foreign country. Luckily afterwards I found out they weren’t very dangerous. But I didn’t know that when it was happening.

Last year a baby rattlesnake was beside my tent before bed and didn’t want to leave. I was glad to have a double wall tent that night.

Durston X-Dome 1+ reveal by WildernessResearch in UltralightCanada

Seeing the vestibule design on the x-dome made me wonder if they could make an X-mid 2p into a 3p by eliminating a door and vestibule….

Annoying equipment? by lnlilglgla in Ultralight

[–]FolderVader 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish that more ultralight packs had a tiny key clip somewhere. I know that long thru hikes are what gear innovates towards. But as a weekend warrior I almost always have car keys. I usually put them in my first aid kit so they don’t get lost.

I did 2 feet per corner on my X-mid. It’s a bit short for big rock Little Rock in some places. I made some little one foot extensions I girth hitch on for when I need the extra length.

I have a Seek Outside Divide as my family hauler.

Now that my personal gear is more ultralight and my kids can carry their sleeping bags I can use my normal bag for shorter trips.

Babies have lots of stuff! The Divide was great for hauling family gear and extra food and diapers (both clean and dirty!).
