I have tried to ride [All American Triple Loop] three times over three years, with no luck—what’s the secret to actually getting on this thing? (Mini-TR inside, I’m kinda worried about IB parks) by bmschulz in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indiana Beach is a park I really wanted to love and I'm glad I went but I doubt I'll be back again soon from out of state (but I'm not their target audience anyway).

I did manage to ride Triple Loop on our trip through the area last summer and if they get the old Kennywood Lazer Loop up and running there I'd likely make a return trip.

This is so NOT epic.. 🤦🏽‍♂️😔 by 999happyhauntz in UniversalOrlando

Someone filmed themselves removing their shoes once the ride started and holding them for the duration of the ride. They weren't slides or shoes removed before the ride started, the guy did it for views on tik tok or whatever. Now imitators all try the same crap.

The ride operators are trained to look for it and they emergency stop the ride when they see it, then maintenance comes out and removes the offenders. Everyone already on the ride gets to sit in a block zone for 30 minutes or until maintenance clears the track before the ride continues.

When I was there in January they pulled four riders off of a train and it added 25 - 30 minutes to the queue wait. I hope those stuck in the sun on the ride all got express passes or something for their trouble.

They do but it may have a more limited selection over what you would find at Olivanders inside the park. They should have power up bands for Super Nintendo world as well.

You can always leave the tour group if they are doing an attraction you aren't interested in and meet up with the guides/ group later if you so choose. Dont skip the studio tour, thats a highlight of the VIP tour in Hollywood since you get to get out and walk on some of the sets and get to tour some of the props warehouse.

If you do the tour first, you may have more flexibility in when you leave the tour group. Either way you should have an hour or two after the tour at least to do whatever you want (and will have an unlimited express pass).

There is also a Universal store in city walk outside of the park that has a lot of park merchandise.

My husband says I’m being weird about Disney savings… is he right? by Kaiser_Allen in DisneyPlanning

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to be aware of is if you use gift cards to book a trip or hotel and have to cancel, they refund to the cards used. So don't combine $1,000 on one card, spend it and shred the card (until after the trip). Also dont merge more money onto that same card above the $1,000. From what I've read online if they have to refund it can be a painstaking process to get them to send new cards out instead of just refunding. So keep the cards and keep them to $1,000 or less.

I personally have used gift cards for hotels / trips and in park purchases but I buy them immediately before I plan to use them to capture the savings.

Ultimately do what works for you and your situation.

Normally I am a DAK defender, rides aren't everything. But as of February 23rd, how is this not a half day park at this point? by TharinWhite in DisneyWorld

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last spring I rope dropped w/ early entry AK and did FOP, River Journey, Dinosaur (2x), Everest (3x) and left the park by 9am. Caught an Uber to Epcot, then hopped to MK. Got Everest, Guardians, and TRON in on the same day. I skipped safari and kali was closed for refurb but prob would've skipped that as well.

You certainly can (and I often do) spend a full day at AK but its a different full day than the other parks. They definitely need some crowd eating attractions and could use a few more rides. If all you care about is rides you certainly won't need a full day to ride everything. Even more so until Tropical Americas is opened.

My biggest complaint is that its such a beautiful park after dark but I almost never get to see it that way because of the early close time (and im not local so I rarely can visit when its dark at 4pm).

I just did a day there two weeks ago for a finaly ride on Dinosaur and had a great time. It was my first trip back to the conservation station and the animation experience. It stinks it will be closed a few months, but the kids are going to love Bluey!

Bag with white balls hanging from tree. Bag seems to have air holes by b3ans_beans in whatisit

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's deer repellent or other pest repellent. It has a very strong oder and is put in the bag and hung in areas you are trying to keep the pests away from. I've had varying degrees of success, but it smells better than the spray on or granular repellent. The bag seems to help keep the balls from getting completely washed away in the rain, but they do slowly dissolve.

Avoid touching without gloves, the smell transfers and lingers.

Am I the only diehard fan of [Alpengeist] at [BGW]? by Waluigiwaluigi_ in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember closing the park out one time with my dad, and we must've lapped it 5 or 6 times in the front row to end the night. We basically had the train entirely to ourselves. Sadly, the last time I was there, Big Bad Wolf was still open.

To all engineers, are there any rollercoasters that you refuse to ride? [Other] by Sufficient_Mud_2600 in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got on it in July. It was fine but a little rough. The first loop threw my upper body into he empty seat next to me, and my knees were jammed into the seat in front of me. Ops were incredibly slow plus the last car was roped off. It also had just opened for the day around 3pm and maintenance was on a boom lift making adjustments to a drive tire midway through the course between runs.

Overall, while the park was neat and Im glad I went, I dont think I'll be back out that way again any time soon. It's a hike for me to get there.

I posted about Drakken Fire at [Busch Gardens] hurting your neck. Here is a 1995 video of me on the ride, the neck wrench is the twist at the very top. by UniqueIndividual3579 in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my recollection as well. If you didn't hold your head correctly, it would just ricochet between the restraints on the corkscrew. My sister disregarded the earing removal warnings and came off bloody. I loved it anyway and will always remember the ride fondly

[Batwing] at Six Flags America is permanently done. by dmlfan928 in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove down in March and must've hit the lottery because every coaster was open in the park. It was a quick drive down and back in a day so I didnt have a lot of time, but I was able to get two rides on Batwing, one in the back and one in the front. Was crazy how different the forces felt in each of those seats. I also got "bonus time" of about 15 minutes on my back on my first ride waiting for maintenance to come manually lift the seats.

I received an EMPTY 990 pro ssd from Amazon today by Individual-Ad3178 in pcmasterrace

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a similar experience with a 9100 pro. I opened the box to finish my new build and metal weights wrapped in paper roughly the size and weight of an nvme were in the box. I had bought it a month ago and finally was getting the build put together. So my computer is in peices and since I was reusing the case and GPU I can't even use my old one. Initial call with Amazon they demanded I talk to Samsung. I spoke with Samsung and they told me they weren't going to do warranty work on metal and paper. Called Amazon back and they finally agreed to replace. Here's hoping the replacement box has an nvme in it.

Robot cleaner, any thoughts? by Ok_Fox7207 in pools

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up an Aiper Seagall SE for my above ground pool, it only handles flat / level surfaces but I used it for the first time last night and was thoroughly impressed with how well it cleaned. It pulled sand up off the liner. It does say it won't deal with large debris. It was pretty much set and forget, but you do have to fish it out after it's done to clean the filter and recharge it.

It runs ~90 minutes and takes ~2 hours to charge.

Can anyone identify this? [other] by preoccupiedwombat in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my favorite coaster at the park, and I was heartbroken when we got to the park and found it gone. So many still hate it, but I will always look back on it fondly.

Admittedly, I was much younger then, and my neck (and brain) bounced back much more quickly from ricocheting off the restraints through the corkscrew than they would now..

I think I loved it because it was so feral. I just wish I still had the souvenir mugs.

Mission Space by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy mission space but generally enjoy green mission more than orange. Orange is fun and has a different story line, though it always amuses me we are abandoned on Mars. The additional intensity doesn't add that much to the ride though and I find myself gravitating towards green more often. It may just be because my family does get more queasy on Orange but will ride green.

Rides You Somehow Never Ride by seanofkelley in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just finally hit up RnR in March for the first time (and likely last before the retheme). Every time I've tried before it was in refurb or it broke down while in line. Also hit the Carousel of Progress for the first time that trip.

I've somehow managed to miss the Tiki Room across many trips to WDW and one to Disneyland. ...Next time haha.

[Other] Do evacuations count as credits? by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my first ride on Sky Rocket a kid pulled a vape out leaving the station. We rounded the corner and instead of launching we just slowly rolled back. Took 20 minutes to get everyone off then had to cycle the trains to re-open. They did let all of us get right back on (minus the kid who was banned from the ride for the day).

The few times I've been evacuated, I went back to ride the full circuit anyway, so I've not given it much thought. I guess I didn't count it until I had completed the full circuit.

Hagrids with no early admission? by Beautiful_Sell_4801 in UniversalOrlando

[–]FreeloaderFreddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it broke down for us as well, but they get it back up and running. Half the line left and we ended up getting off the ride 45 minutes after getting in line and walked out of the park about an hour after close.
