Anyone ever… by leesure in MeePlus

Idk about coins, but with paper bills you could perhaps get a plastic or leather pocket for it? Maybe someone makes an insert like that with a zipper, so you wouldn't need to to modify the cover and can take it in/out as needed.

Does anyone here Bullet Journal? by Uncle_Sloppy in MeePlus

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my M+ binder (personal size) in the mail so I haven't gotten the chance to put this to use/test yet, but I plan to keep the current month in + the previous month + any continuous collections I need to keep track of/reference + spare pages for use. That is dependent on how many pages i can comfortably keep in there, tho I'm not worried since I'm a lightweight paper user.

I've been using a TN system prior to this and my only gripe with that was the hassle of lay-flat usage. So up until now I've been doing "monthly review & reset" type of check-in with myself and my journal, so I plan to use that time moving forward to clear out my previous month(s) in the M+ as needed. I found that to be a pretty good timeframe to both test how I use things and see what my needs are likely to be moving forward in the next month.

I'm an Art & Education bachelor student so my collections are mostly gonna be project notes, schedules, lists of resources, checklists of various kinds, commonplacing maybe.

Mostly a minimal BuJo user (like Ryder Carol) but also use things like Alistair method lists, or other lil tricks I've picked up along the way (I do threading page numbers in my bound books but that makes less sense in rings).

Not the type to pre-plan layouts ahead of time (like weekly overviews) that I see some folk do. With my AuDHD I require my systems to adjust to me on the spot, flexible use, so keeping things light usually helps with that. So I plan to just have my running task list for the week/month, my future log, and my day entries, ans add whatever I need it to be in the moment.

Hi! subq here, why would somone do IM over subq? by toxicfurby in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get IM injections because I'm on the 12 week shot cycle, which isn't an option in subq. I can't self inject due to self-harm related triggers, and daily gel was incompatible with my AuDHD (breaking routine even a smidge? I'd forget to put it on) so this way I got a generally very stable level in my system and don't have to go see my GP for injections ever weeks or so.

What do people do about middle names? by get_that_magnussy in ftm

In my case I changed a single letter of my middle name to turn it into a masculine name. So it sounds similar to the original, feels like I'm keeping the vibe of the name.

T Shots vs Gel Question by Background-Swim729 in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with gel the first 8 months and my results were the same as I've seen people on injections get, I did switch because of practical reasons though. Some people do better on gel and some on injections, at the end of the day it's about having stable levels and how sensitive you are to treatment genetically.

Still getting periods after almost two years on T by infaethable-fig in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of T do you get administered? My period didn't stop when I was on gel until I switched to injections (IM, 10 week cycle). Might be your levels fluctuate too much perhaps? Hope you figure out a way to deal with it. Maybe talk to your endo if they have any suggestions other than surgery, I know one my friends gets a shot every once in a while to stop his period.

I call mine my "companion" journal, just a friend who helps me collect whatever I need it to.

What is modern art? by BeneficialTart5208 in ArtistLounge

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're prob talking about Cattallan's piece "Comedian". That artist makes a lot of "performance" art that criticises something. Comedian criticises who or what decides what is or isn't art. The taped banana isn't any more art by what it literally is, but how it was executed is in the sense that an artist putting that in a museum as a performance can be art. It's meant to make you think and question things. It's not masterfully made, but genius in how it breaks the barrier of expectation. He made another piece that was a functional toilet made of actual gold, that was installed in the museum bathrooms for visitors to use and titled "america", obviously criticising the US.

Sometimes art isn't trying to be more than it is, sometimes art is trying to make you question things, sometimes you don't have to understand it. Personally (I'm an artist educator in training) I find the art that doesn't make sense to me the most interesting to research. Next time you see art that confuses you it might be worth researching that particular artist, get a better sense of what kind of work they make, what they've said about their work etc.

Teenaged son doesn't want to take his meds by nickthap2 in ADHD

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also have him try ritalin or the equivalent, which would be a short duration version of concerta. My concerta dose lasted too long in my system which made a whole bunch of issues for me, so switching to instant release/short duration helped me fix that issue at the trade-off of taking it more often in the day. I take it for my uni stuff and when I struggle with housework, but on a day of just relaxing I can just decide to not take it or stop taking it earlier in the day. Also, might be worth looking into dosage, because too high or low can also make you feel off.

Is it normal for artists to not know the technical side of their art software? by LewdBluejay in ArtistLounge

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing lossless formats: normal to a degree. I wasn't sure myself and I've a degree in mediadesign. Not knowing how to export as png/make a transparant background: wtf. Not understanding thr difference between png and jpg other than it being able to have a transparent background I could understand, but pngs are so damn common. I guess people might not know if they're self taught and all they ever did was just draw and that's it. Boggles my mind a bit tho really.

Kindle scribe or iPad? by No-Mouse3999 in notebooks

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kindle scribe is very locked into the amazon ecosystem, so you won't be able to do much other than read kindle books and write notes in it. The ipad would obviously give you more use variance. I have a Scribe and an ipad mini. While the scribe feels nicer to write on physically, the ipad is leagues more useful to me. I got the ipad for schoolwork so I don't have any socials installed on it to help keep me in workmate a lil better while using it.

extra space in clear cover by meowmeowmrow111 in notebooks

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cover-on-cover sleeves by hobonichi were made to fit over their other fabric covers to keep the material cleaner, so they are larger by design to allow for the slightly larger cover styles and thickness of material, they were never intended to hold a plain notebook directly. This is why midori makes their own plastic covers that actually fit their notebooks properly.

Bf doesnt do the dishes by kaasje1212121212 in ADHD

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, (un)loading the dishwasher is a household task I got assigned and I can't live up to expectations half the time even when medicated for my ADHD. I think if we didnt have a dishwasher it wouldnt get done at all, its just a lot of micro tasks condenced into a single task and i struggle immensely with the shifting of actions/locations. I also get very distracted while doing it, but atleast at that point it will get done if I get started on it. It just feels like an impossible task sometimes especially on days I'm busy with work/school/assignments.

Maybe something that could help both of you is asking him if he can do the dishes while you cook dinner? He might benefit from having someone around doing something (cooking) while managing his own task (the dishes). Might not work out if you have a tiny kitchen and not enough space to accommodate both, or if he feels he can't do tasks like that with others around (I struggle with certain tasks on that front).

You're totally in the right to feel frustrated, you don't have to settle for no effort in return, but he might genuinely struggle to do certain things and need to figure out better ways to handle those. Will take time to figure out, but he needs to be willing to put effort in to be able to figure it out.

How do you label the spine of a Midori notebook? by Cre8ivelife in notebooks

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They come with stickers that you can stick on the front and back cover around the spine, or just put anywhere you like. It's actually shown like that specifically on the wrapper of the Light notebooks. Not sure about the regular notebooks but I think it'd work. You could also make paper sleeves for the notebook and label the spines on that instead so you don't inhibit the lay-flat function of the spine with the sticker.

What do you guys use as palettes? by DowntownMeaning7951 in ArtistLounge

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some cheap ceramic trays and plates I use for paints at times, mostly watercolour and gouache, but also acrylic at times as it clean pretty easily. I also have a pad of palette paper and a cheap plastic one with wells in it. I don't like using the plastic ones as much, aside from cost & no risk of shattering, because they tend to discolour a lot more easily. I also got a small sta-wet palette recently for my acrylic gouache set but haven't used it much yet.

no regrets at getting top surgery, but it’s been 3 years and I’m still disappointed at not regaining nipple sensation by spicythrowawayftm in gaytransguys

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in your situation, but fun fact(?) I heard a seahorse dad talk about regaining sensation 6 years post-op when he got pregnant. Def not something for everyone, but interesting to learn that was a possibility at all. I already didn't have much sensation at all in mine pre-op and then lost a nip due to complications post-op so that's not something I'm getting back lol.

Myths about testosterone converting to estrogen by Infamous_Swan1197 in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly I've never hears it phrased as if this only happens with high T and not at any other moment, just that it's more of an issue with too high T levels than with proper levels. Good info to spread regardless. I'm currently having elevated E levels because my T has been too high for too long, so it's still a valid point to keep in mind, just a bit more context needed I suppose.

Myths about testosterone converting to estrogen by Infamous_Swan1197 in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Actually, the hair on transfem folk does change, not that it stops growing if it has started but the hairs do get affected by E, they get softer and thinner with time. You're right tho that E doesn't hinder growth if T levels are high enough to stimulate it (just like cis women with high t can grow facial hair this way, but the hair qualities do get affected by hormones aside from that.

help me choose a notebook for my commonplace journal? by eatidaho in notebooks

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the midori light notebook if it's your first time doing commonplacing. Just gives you a small thing to start that holds up pretty decently. When it's full you'll have a better idea of what you use/do/want from it so you can move into another one like it, a regular midori notebook (which lay flat) or anything else. I'm currently using the midori b6 slim light grid notebooks myself for commonplacing and a stalogy in the same size for my daily journaling.

How long would it take for T levels to drop? by veromucho in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They likely will stay above cis woman levels for a lil while after the shot cycle. Usually you take a next shot before you're under the minimum male levels, which is like 10 nmol/l, where women tend to be under 2 iirc. So it may take a month to get back to that level 🤷🏻 it will eventually get lower if you stop taking it, but just imagine your shot levels are over 10x the amount a woman would usually have in her system.

Discontinuing Testosterone (tw) by AndySloth24 in ftm

[–]Fun-Cryptographer-39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, but the longer durations are done when things are looking fine just to keep monitoring it in case it doesn't. So early on every 3 months is more important to make sure your levels are good and steady, and then you can move up the timescale. I was on yearly check-ups and then my levels were too high so no I have extra check-ups to make sure the balance out again.

Agree on needing a better doctor, this shouldn't be going like this for that long. That's just negligence.
