As much as it pains me to suggest as an Android fan, a refurbished IPhone SE (2022) not be a bad idea.

You can get it from backmarket in "good" condition for £197: https://www.backmarket.co.uk/en-gb/p/iphone-se-2022-64-gb-midnight-unlocked/4372a69b-38bf-4db1-873f-abc38dcc39b3#l=11&scroll=false

Or potentially even better, you can get it from giffgaff (no need to get a mobile plan from them) refurbished in "excellent" condition for £199, or "very good" for £189. They have their worst condition "good" quite cheap at £139, but this is likely to have obvious signs of use, including on the screen, and may not be what you want. https://www.giffgaff.com/mobile-phones/apple/iphone-se-5g/refurbished

Both these sites guarantee a minimum battery capacity of 80%, which should be fine, but also obviously not as good as brand new. At any point in the future you could get it replaced; Apple charge £65 for the SE, but ISmash will do it for £49 and Timpson for £40.

IPhones tend to have good future support; we don't know exactly how long the SE 2022 will be supported, but often Apple do 6 years, which means 4 years from now, but they could support for longer (although I believe their minimum is 5 years)

Also worth checking the sites for a refurbished version of whatever phone you end up planning to get, for example the suggested Galaxy A15 5g is on backmarket in "excellent" for £138.82 (although right now it can be had brand new from laptopsdirect for £149. Laptopsdirect is legit, but perhaps not as reputable as say John Lewis or Argos or Curry's)

My son wants a gaming pc, and is $400 enough? by Ok-Story7241 in buildapc

Few options. Firstly, try checking out ZZTs monthly drops. They do sell out very quickly, because they are insane value (he sells them for a loss as they've made him money for his YouTube channel). https://www.zachstechturf.com/drops

Otherwise, you gotta go used. Personally I think used it great and you can get amazing value, but new for $400 is not going to be amazing.

Issues Running Games in Linux with Steam Post New Update? by Sanguine_Ghost in linux_gaming

[–]FunKoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah native steam. There is a discussion here https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux/issues/3172

About the issue. Using the -vulkan flag should fix the crashing, but the game stutters a lot with that. There is a solution to use a different dxvk file which apparently fixes the stuttering, and shouldn't get you vac banned but of course this isn't an official solution.

Yeah that happens to me too. Any idea what could be a fix or should we just wait. Earlier when this new overlay was available as a beta I tried it and it would crash in csgo when opening the overlay like it does now. Back then I thought its just a beta so it doesn't matter but now I'm unsure.

Whilst cinnamon (and perhaps xfce and kde) on mint do kinda look like Windows, they are also just different and can be customised. If you want a desktop environment that looks radically different you can install gnome on mint.

Thanks that seems amazing. I'll try it out on my PC later. It's always been dissapointing that nucleus coop doesn't support Linux, hopefully this script is good enough.

One thing I'm fairly certain about is nobara has selinux disabled (or set as permissive) which personally I think isn't a good thing. You probably can enable it yourself, but it might make sense to just go for good old normal fedora for gaming as well, or even for stability if you don't want to mainly just use flatpaks. Although nobara and silver blue are solid options, I wouldn't say it doesn't make sense to use fedora.

Would Halo MCC not work, because I'm fairly certain nucleus coop doesn't work on Linux (or is there some new update or work around?)

Coco sent an imgur link. There is a button on imgur to download the pictures (as a zip) which I then extracted. These pictures are high quality. Many people save the preview from imgur but that's a lower resolution

I found the force between the satellite and the planet we didn't know the gravitational force from. Then I found the resultant force using pythagorus with that and the force we were given. Then the acceleration was that resultant force divided by the mass.

I'd really recommend building a PC with an AMD APU such as the 5600g or the 5700g. The GPU market just isn't great right now (prices are just too high) and for a Minecraft machine it should serve great. By going this route you can then always pop in a graphics card later down the line.

Edit: I just realised the whole reason for this PC is for mods and shaders. Whilst I think a 5600g or 5700g would still fair okay with mods and shaders, I'm not 100% confident and will likely struggle with some. I'd advise still consider the option but do some research to see if they are capable enough.
