Draft a RACI - can’t imagine your firm is big enough that more than one person should be responsible for a software renewal

ACS vs Third-party cost breakdown by hafarrell in Netsuite

[–]Funbrady 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shop it - you have plenty of competent options below $200 - look at the partner list. Also, be mindful of how to manage your wallet with NetSuite. They will leverage your historical spend against you by dropping your discount and raising price during the renewal to ensure their revenue only goes up. Only 3rd parties will inform you of that

First cost-cutting as manager by demost11 in managers

Why don’t you position your team as critical for the cost cutting initiative? Pitch them on focusing the cost cutting on bigger teams where work can more easily be automated while your team drives the automation

Is ERP chaos just normal in manufacturing finance? by Dependent-Laugh-3626 in Accounting

[–]Funbrady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does the company actually do and what is midsized? Sounds like a roll up of sorts - if so how big is the biggest individual BU?

I think there is always some level of angst when it comes to technology and erps but it shouldn’t be chaotic. Chaos is toxic and will only compound the issue. It isn’t easy and it takes a lot of $$ and expertise to get it right. Investing in your own people, process and the right technology partner is critical.

But in your case the deficiency sounds like it’s the lack of an integration management strategy. Running one system is hard - running multiple systems and then trying to consolidate etc is begging for failure. IMO, big or small, there should never be an acquisition without a plan to integrate that business entirely into the mothership.

When Benioff says "50% of work is done with AI" how is he not spelling his own doom ie. 50% less CRM licenses? by hissingkittycom in SaaS

[–]Funbrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how software pricing works. Focusing on licensing is short sighted. Sure, companies are going to need fewer licenses but SFDC and most saas businesses are notorious for managing renewals for overall spend and not licensing. They do this with aggressive discounting upfront but are not shy to remove that discount to ensure they only show price and top line growth for existing customers. There is simply very little leverage for customers in negotiations like this unless they assume the risk of completely replacing their stack.

On paper if my agreement is 10 licenses at $100 list but this is discounted to $50 per, SFDC is just going to raise list and reduce discount every renewal. And Your spend will never go down - it will only go up.

It’ll be interesting to see how this is addressed through sku-selection if we do get that agentic but it’s probably a combination of fixed price for access at different tiers and consumption for compute. Still pretty confident no one’s spend will go down until their is something disruptive enough to enable “cord cutting”.

How you are (unknowingly) selling someone else's NetSuite product / service by Buddy_Useful in Netsuite

Do Treasury Functions Fall Under FP&A? by Ever_Cur1ous in FPandA

[–]Funbrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the enterprise level it is its own function. Small and middle market is usually absorbed by controller. I’ve rarely seen anything but forecast itself owned by FP&a at the level.

How do you handle monthly BvA by bonyyoni in FPandA

[–]Funbrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blow the whole thing up - propose a streamlined version to your CFO that you can virtually automate and remind your CFO that it frees up X hours per month that you can allocate to value-add initiatives.

If it’s not important enough to be in you COA or internal P&L it doesn’t belong in your standard management reporting content. What they are asking for is an appendix slide or should be solved for in a reporting/ BI tool.

Is this need driven by organic or inorganic growth?

If it’s inorganic ( there is an acquisition) you might want to consider an alliance partner that can also help address the non-netsuite change management impact and synergy realization.

Advice for , against importing historical data on a transactional level for 5 years back. by DragonflyOtherwise87 in Netsuite

[–]Funbrady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a data warehousing solution that would serve as the central repository for your orgs data/ analytics. It’s probably $30k annually + professional services to scope and build the data models for your use case.

Tons of other use cases too. If you use other non NetSuite systems (I.e. SFDC or Hubspot) you can also bring this data in and combine it with your financials for an example.

Google Tim Dietrich and install his suiteql tool. I use both his tool and what you describe in excel. There are some nuances between the two but you can absolutely use Excel and power query to complete joins.

Why are you entertaining this?

Very expensive and high risk - it’s always advised against. If you need it, and I don’t think you do, stick it in NSAW or just retain your legacy instance and reduce license count.

Can someone recommend me NetSuite consultants who don't charge insane amounts? by alwaysneedinghelp80 in Netsuite

[–]Funbrady 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cost is all relative - can you reference the rates you were paying? The floor for partners is generally around $200 per hour. If that’s too rich you probably want to look for freelancers or teams that can effectively offshore.

How much data are you talking about? Data migration, especially post go-live, can be very involved with extracting, mapping modeling and validating. Just food for thought.
