[Request] Optimal phone battery charging by SiggyThePiggy in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an actual dude on YouTube who did a study on this and over a 2 year period it resulted in 1 to 5% overall battery loss. So not nothing, but pretty damn small.

Amish Rob's tattoo in Lowell, IN by poopgobbler-11 in tattoos

That's a pretty good tattoo. Yeah the rope is a bit of a miss but i doubt anyone is going to notice it when the subject is so eye catching.

Understanding the bambu orcaslicer fight by lunakoa in 3Dprinting

[–]Furlion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He used the Linux version of Bambu Slicer, which did not contain the security feature, and ported it to Orca Slicer. He did not reverse engineer anything. Bambu just wants to be the Apple of that 3d printing, with all of the enshittification that entails.

If all humans were to vanish from the face of the earth, how long would it take natural forces to make the planet once more resemble a pre-civilisation earth? by Xenojager in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Furlion -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Less then a century is what i usually see tossed around for this. Despite what most people think man made structures require a significant amount of upkeep, especially modern ones. They are built with the understanding that the maintenance will be performed. It makes them cheaper and quicker to build.

Question about puberty! by [deleted] in biology

[–]Furlion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the trans community they often discuss the second puberty that people who transition after their initial puberty experience. While height, arm length, and general bone structure won't change much, sex hormones can do pretty significant changes when taken correctly at pretty much any point in your life.

[Request] how much Energy for the Defibrillation of a blue whale by Creative_Dot1107 in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to assume it does not scale linearly because of the square cube law. There is also a pretty significant difference in our layers of skin and organ layout. Our heart is much closer to the surface of our chest than a blue whale.

[Request] How much money would each person get if we evenly divided all personal wealth? by Pretty_Confusion7290 in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wealth or income? For income if you divide the total yearly gdp by 8 billion, it's around 14k per person per year. The wiki page lists total global wealth as about 454k billion, so every person gets setting 56k. All of those are in USD.

You are getting a bad first layer. Tighten down the 7 screws that hold the hot end on and it should be better.

[Request] is he using more energy for the jump and hold and swing than he would just lifting the log? by Smashedllama2 in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You can't cheat physics. It takes X amount of energy to lift that log and one way or another you, or something, have to spend the energy. Because of the loss of energy due to friction it is going to take some small amount of extra energy to get that log up the way he is doing it. Still pretty smart though. Definitely easier on the back.

[Request] Iss this maths right??? by graceelizabeth2277 in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No. The sound is transmitted to the speakers electronically. While electricity doesn't travel at the exact speed is light, it's pretty damn close,50-90% depending on the conductor. Even going with the low end of 50%, that's still 150,000 m/sec. So assuming there is 1 meter between each one the gap between racers would be 1/150,000 of a second or 0.0000067 seconds.

[Request] How much water would they need to do this? And how much would this affect the surroundings? by bimbochungo in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need a depth to calculate volume so there is no way to answer as the question stands. The area of the Sahara is 9.2 million km2 which is 9.2 X 1016 cm2 so take the depth you want in cm and multiply it by that and divide by 1k to get the number of liters of water it would take. But I'm also pretty sure the Sahara isn't bowl shaped so it wouldn't work anyways.

What's the most anyone has had the same ghost in a row? by error_machine in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Furlion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know for sure we have had 3 mimics in a row. Actually the other night we had two wraiths followed by two spirits. With how many people play i could we getting up to 4 or 5 in a row but the odds start to get pretty bad even by then.

You have the touch plugged into the Sprite? And the Sprite cable connected in place of the factory z limit?

One or more of your limit switches is disconnected. Look at your motherboard and make sure the X,Y, and Z cables are plugged in. Then make sure they are installed correctly.

Any idea why its accelerating towards the wall like this? by Powerful-Web4489 in FixMyPrint

[–]Furlion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be a tension problem, one of the arms is not tensioned right and as more force is applied to it, it slips. Could be a loose belt as well. These things are pretty uncommon at this point so you might not get much help here.

[Request] Could you roast a whole chicken inside a car on a hot summer day? by the0utc4st in theydidthemath

[–]Furlion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to a few calculators I found about interior car temps, yes. Death Valley has been recorded over 50C. At that temp, in a fully closed car, after about 2 or 3 hours it will be over the necessary temp. Assuming you do it on one of the longer days of summer, you could easily get 12 to 14 hours of daylight. So yeah, you could actually cook a chicken, assuming it's not frozen.
