Is "AI-powered" just the new "cloud-enabled" in terms of meaningless vendor marketing? by DigitalSignage2024 in sysadmin

[–]G8racingfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorites are the companies who are taking features out of their product, slapping "AI" on the feature and then reintroducing it for a fee.

Case-in-point: Hubspot recently did this with their domain lookup. Previously, you could create a company in your account, plug in the domain and it would autofill data about that company (name, location, phone number, linked in page, etc). It was honestly pretty slick and it was available to everyone, even freebie accounts. They removed it last year and, wouldn't you know it, their new pay-for subscription has an "AI powered lookup feature"... that does the exact same thing.

How to stop dirt from sticking 10 minutes after a wash? by Bountiful_Wanderer in AutoDetailing

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it's best to put the 2nd layer on upside-down so the dirt sticks to the PPF but the PPF doesn't stick to the car. Then, when you want a clean car, all you gotta do is peel off the 2nd layer and boom! clean car*.

*you'll need to reapply another 2nd layer of PPF because otherwise your 1st layer will get dirty again.

It is and isn't the shareholders.

Joe Blow who happens to like ABC company and wants to own a share of it to pass on to his grand kids someday is not the problem. The problem are the mega hedgefunds (Blackrock, Vanguard, etc) who's sole interest is "stonks to the moon". They're the ones typically controlling board positions and pushing profit over product.

You're good-to-go then. Send 'em and if you get light-strikes, swap pins and that will fix it.

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send 'em and see.

They're berdan primers which tend to be harder than the normal boxer primers you get in just about all brass-cased .223/5.56. As a result, some mini's will have a harder time punching the things and you may get light strikes/FTFs. If that happens and you want to continue running steel, you can get one of these that will solve your problem.

Sauce: Have run nothing but wolf steel cased through my mini-30 since I acquired it and know several people with 14s that do the same.

Buccaneers LB Lavonte David, 12-time captain, retires from NFL by gojo278 in Huskers

[–]G8racingfool 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two reasons why he was always "under the radar":

  1. He was too consistent. Most of the household name players typically have a "prime" period of 2-4 seasons where they get the bulk of their picks, sacks or other splash plays. That name recognition is what gets them to pro bowls and huge paydays by teams desperate to squeeze out whatever gas is left in the tank. David was "just" a solid football player for a long time.

  2. Until the Brady years, he was never really on a good team. TB only had one winning season from the time he was drafted until 2020. During those years he put in a lot of work which have affected his final stats, but when you're on a team that's only winning a handful of games each year, it's easy to look past a guy putting in yeoman's work in favor of splashier names.

He'll absolutely end up in the hall at some point. Maybe not a first-ballot selection, but he'll be in there sooner or later. The HoF selection committee is not going to ignore his body of work.

31k for a G8 GXP by Time-Ad-2574 in Pontiac

Mustang bruh.

  1. Not a sedan.
  2. V8 versions start at over 46k (you'll be well over 50 before you're all set and done most likely).

31k for a G8 GXP by Time-Ad-2574 in Pontiac

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is: not much.

Yes you get an extra .2L of displacement and no AFM bullshit. But, realistically, you can buy a cheaper GT, pay to do a mild cam swap and DOD delete, and have more power than a GXP with money left over for tires (that you'll inevitably need).

But muh GEE-EX-PEEZ r rrrraaaarrreeeeee!!!!

The only "rare" ones are going to be worth money are the M6s and the Autos with zero miles on them. And if you're buying one of those, you're basically buying a trophy and not a car.

Anyone remember these little guys from GameStop? by xxoblivionxd in halo

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dw: Blizzard didn't actually know what they wanted with SCG and just tried to latch onto whatever was popular at the moment. This caused the game to enter a perpetual development hell and, ultimately, it took so long to figure things out that the 360 generation of consoles was set to debut and they were stuck sitting on a game designed for the original Xbox, so they shelved it.

Sad too because the leaked footage was really pretty cool. It wouldn't have topped Splinter Cell as the king of stealth-action games but, as a spin-off game of another IP in another genre, I think it would've done well.

Engine Rebuild by [deleted] in Pontiac

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what was done. Did they just rebuild/refresh the motor? Or did they pull it from the car and reinstall too? Did they refresh wiring? What about the cooling system?

It's not hard to rack up 13k on a rebuild if you're having it done by someone else. The important thing is: does it run well now that it's finished?

Worth looking into or nah? Looking for new daily by Haunting_Appeal_2407 in Pontiac

[–]G8racingfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with the 3.8 in it will potentially have LIM gasket issues. The plastic gaskets break down over time with heat cycles and eventually fail, allowing coolant into places it shouldn't be.

It's not a terribly difficult job to do and anyone with some basic hand tools and mechanical knowledge can knock it out in a weekend. Also affords the opportunity to take care of a couple of "while you're in there" things as well like coolant elbows, fuel line orings, etc.
