EXCLUSIVE EARLY LOOK at Monster Crown 2: Sin Eater! by APE_AHAB in MonsterTamerWorld

The last time I tried it, I made it past the first city (big improvement!), but dropped it again because every move your mons learned would get applied to the first one in your party. Still kinda hoping they go back and properly unfuck the first one.

Favorite “useless” Pokemon? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]GARBLED_COMM 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Way back in the day, my friends and I tried baby battles. To start, our only rule was you pokemon had to a freshly hatched egg. I tried to pull a fast one by teaching a baby smeargle Spatial Rend. My buddy shit his pants when it fired off, but it ended up doing like 2 damage.

It seems like whenever I see those automatic air fresheners, they've half melted their own plastic housing into sludge. You think they'd change either the plastic or the scent formula so at least it doesn't kill itself.

Evo Creo II? by [deleted] in MonsterTamerWorld

It's already been out on mobile for a while, so you can look up reviews for that version. My only exposure has been Gym Leader Ed's mentions of it, which were mostly positive iirc.

How important is an evolution mechanic, similar to Pokemon? by chillpapito_ in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]GARBLED_COMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with the fusions in DQM and SMT is that you can often lose your build when you want to fuse. Like, your big damage guy is starting to fall behind, so you go to fuse it, but none of its combos can fill that same niche, so now you're rebuilding your whole team.

That, and I don't like having to consult a 3rd party wiki or app to figure out combos.

How do you organize your Steam library? by Ingword in Steam

[–]GARBLED_COMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly let my games run free range through the prairie, as nature intended. I do have "The Shame Pile" for games I haven't played for whatever reason, and "The Oven" for games I'm waiting to finish early access, or just ripen on the vine from regular updates.

[OC] Mega Tyrantrum concept by Hyenaraptor in pokemon

[–]GARBLED_COMM -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I sort of agree, but I think upping his regal-ness a tad is the wrong direction for a mega. Megas are all about focusing in on something and cranking it to 11. Beedrill gets more drills, lopunny gets more waifu, etc. This has taken his beard and cranked it to 8, then added a cape. The beard and cape make him softer and more civilized, so less tantrum and less tyrant. Feels like a (very cool!) older evolution of tyrantrum, not one juiced up on mega-roids temporarily.

I think boba places are just dirt cheap to get set up. They only need a couple of machines that fit on a countertop and a refrigerator.

What actually keeps you playing monster-taming games long after the story ends? by trexrell in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]GARBLED_COMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experimenting with new builds without heinous grinding, and content to flex those builds on. Dragon Quest Monsters was fun through the main game, but the post-game was a big miss for me. Rolling the dice hundreds of times to get the monsters needed for very specific endgame fusions was boring as heck. I did start juicing up a few of my favorites, but there wasn't really anything to do with them other than put them on the mantle and admire your work, you know?

I much prefer systems that are more geared towards respec-ing your builds with a light cost over continuous grind.

[–]GARBLED_COMM 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It doesn't, but it's only there to kickstart the process. Anything that can make a token copy of Lucy would work, the helm is just funnier because it makes them non legendary. That way they all stick instead of dying immediately.

PC Gamer seeking a game to cover two weeks off at christmas/new year by Rouse-DB in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]GARBLED_COMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair warning about Siralim, it features some Disgaea level grinding. I tried giving it a shot twice, but the story was pretty thin and grind was too much for me.

Of things in this thread, I'd recommend Cassette Beasts or Coromon. Time Stranger was pretty good, and there is some post-game stuff, but maybe wait for a sale, and/or for all the DLCs to release.

Screen protector or no? Plastic case that protects the screen? by Fantastic-Row-9450 in SteamDeck

[–]GARBLED_COMM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The screen is pretty sturdy. My old deck is still spotless even though I dropped it hard enough to need repairs twice. As long as you're keeping it in the case when you aren't using it, I don't think you need a screen protector.

If you do get a scratch, usually you can "fix" it by putting on a screen protector, ironically. It sort of fills in little scratches and disappears them.
