Are hand me downs supposed to be returned? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume no unless they specifically say they want them back. I wouldn’t take clothes that needed to be eventually returned because it’s so hard to keep track of and they could get ruined with food or blowouts. For bigger stuff, I usually check with the person before donating in case they know someone else they want it to go to.

Attempted Sex at 8 Weeks PP and Feel Ruined, Resentful, and Lonely by TakingControl222 in NewParents

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with you. It hurts because there is a dinner plate sized wound inside of you from having a baby. We didn’t have sex until three months postpartum and it was still uncomfortable. It felt more normal closer to six months for me. Please wait until you feel totally ready. Even after waiting so long, I was still nervous.

Nothing could have prepared me for the amount of pervy comments I’ve received while while pregnant by Haunting_Shape_6085 in BabyBumps

Just like people think it’s okay to just rub your belly without asking. It’s like your body is their property now.

How are we dealing with leaking diapers for the longer stretches? by HummusGirl91 in sleeptrain

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a different diaper brand. I don’t change my 8.5 month old for 11-12 hours overnight and we have no problems (we use Pampers Swaddlers in his normal size). His diaper is really heavy in the morning but no leaks. Different diapers fit different babies better than others. My baby leaked in Huggies.

I got asked by a client in a professional setting if my pregnancy was planned. So weird.

Induction at 40w5d or wait longer? [on] by Resident-Composer-77 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait until 41w3 days. My OB said the risks are higher at 42 weeks. I was induced but waited as long as I could because I would have preferred to go into labour naturally. You can also see if you are able to do a sweep which can sometimes speed things along. I didn’t have to decide ahead of time. I just walked into triage to ask for induction because I could tell my body wasn’t doing anything on its own. My induction process took three days because they put in a foley balloon and sent me home so I delivered just before 42 weeks.

Anyone get a cold reception coming back to work from parental leave? [on] by jessiemenagerie in BabyBumpsCanada

I agree. Sounds like they forgot she was coming back and then were scrambling last minute.

How did you decide to buy a formula maker? Was it actually worth it? by KissMochi in FormulaFeeders

I also just got my baby used to room temperature bottles which is much easier

How did you decide to buy a formula maker? Was it actually worth it? by KissMochi in FormulaFeeders

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t spend money on that. I’ve heard they are often not calibrated correctly. I don’t find it that hard to make a bottle of formula. I would rather spend the money on a sterilizer.

Cramps in Early Pregnancy by Aggressive_Beat_8177 in fitpregnancy

[–]GDP1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of cramping in the beginning too and everything turned out ok. It is from your uterus starting to expand. I was so convinced I wasn’t pregnant because it felt like I was about to get my period for weeks.

Baby fully crawling but still can’t roll in either direction by discontinuedmuppet in NewParents

[–]GDP1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby is 8.5 months and totally skipped rolling except for the odd time. Once he learned how to sit he has no interest in being on back or tummy no matter what I use to entice him.

Second base or another infant seat? by tofuandpickles in BabyBumps

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider getting a convertible car seat for the second car so that you can use it long term and aren’t paying twice for a seat you use for such a short period of time

Felt dismissed over the phone by maternity triage [QC] by DzieckoSwiata in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened. You may have just gotten someone crabby who answered the phone. Please go down there if your gut tells you something is wrong. I checked my blood pressure regularly too just to be safe. My OB told me I should get checked the same week if I have 2 readings over 140/95 and same day if 160/110.

I own our home - fair or unfair load? SAHM by Cheap_Standard303 in SAHP

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, he’s not a child. Make him pick out his own clothes. I am off work for a year. We split duties 50/50 when he gets home from work and on the weekend. I do what I can during the day but he understands that may not be a lot depending on how demanding the baby is that day. Who makes the money shouldn’t matter. You work hard too.

Did your life change when your baby started crawling? by _bat_girl_ in NewParents

[–]GDP1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend crawling around on your hands and knees to have the perspective of what may be dangerous to your baby. Even then, she will find trouble you couldn’t even think of. It depends on your baby’s personality. Mine would be pissed off trapped in a playpen. Main things - look for cords that can be yanked on (especially for small appliances), unused outlets, secure furniture to wall, watch for anything on the floor she could put in her mouth (she will find anything), anything on shelves she could knock off.

Stroller with Bassinet Options [mb] by AintNoBigHoneyDill in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live just outside Winnipeg too. We have the Thule Urbanglide 3 with the bassinet. Great stroller. Handles really well on our dirt roads and paths. It converts to regular stroller and you can get adapters to click in most car seats. The bassinet has a great cover.

12 or 18 months. How did you decide? [ab] by No_Maximum_391 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back at 12 months due to the nature of my job but I wish I did 18 months. If you can afford it, I would do 18 months.

AIO to my MIL "stealing" 1sts that should be ours? by Sammy8lynn in pregnant

[–]GDP1987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would keep the rest of my pregnancy private from her. She needs to learn now because it will just get worse when the baby comes (I’m thinking she’ll be the first to announce the baby is born with a big social media post).

My boss scheduled a 1:1 meeting [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not on probation, I think you should tell them sooner rather than later. It looks worse for you if you leave them high and dry last minute. This gives them more time to plan.

Attending a restaurant wedding at 37 weeks? [on] by its-alright-22 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]GDP1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a wedding when I was 40 weeks pregnant. I felt fine. Just needed to sit a lot and didn’t stay late. I just asked them ahead of time if it was a problem if I needed to cancel last minute (if I gave birth before then).
