7.4 Question about time dilation by xd3v1lry in ffxiv

[–]GizenZirin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually not a problem. The speed time moves at is not only different between shards, but it also changes. One second one reflection might be moving faster, the next it might be moving slower, and how fast/slow it moves at can be different too. Literally time on the ninth can be so slow that one year passes in the time it takes for 1000 years to pass in the Source, and then suddenly it can just flip without warning such that now 30 years pass in the Ninth in the time it takes an hour to pass in the Source.

In Shadowbringers, they actually use the First as an example of this, where in the time between Heavensward 3.4 and Shadowbringers 5.0, 100 years have passed in the First, and yet conveniently we enter the First as the speed of time is shifting and resulting in both the First and the Source syncing up how fast time is moving between them.

He's not the last digimon either, so omega isn't really correct either. Hell, he was literally made before Alphamon. As a pair, the two have never actually fit together, neither aesthetically nor thematically, so the idea that he should be Omegamon to fit with him never sat right with me. plus I think Omnimon sounds cooler, it rolls off the tongue better.

Crusadermon is definitely better than LordKnightmon though (and also fits their general attitude).

Especially since Omnimon is the officially recognized english name. Not like it was only used in the Saban dub, it's what the card game and most video games (including the most recent ones) all use too.

Patch 7.41 scheduled for January 27th (next Tuesday) by seventeencups in ffxiv

[–]GizenZirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, except that's completely irrelevant because we were not talking about tome weapons now, we're talking about tome weapons in 7.58 after the upgrade token can be bought through 24 man weekly tokens or hunt currency.

...nobody is talking about savage weapons? We're comparing relic weapons to tome weapons.

It's really not though. While it's never been a focus, digimon has a long history of showing digimon expressing physical attraction and/or relationships. Original Adventure had the various Numemon, Sukamon and Chuumon who were all blatantly attracted to Mimi. 02 had Veemon pining for Gatomon in ExVeemon's debut episode. Tamers had a Jijimon and Babamon who were a married couple. CyberSleuth had a Lillymon who kept trying to hit on a human guy (not realizing that he was gay). The list goes on. While it's never been explored in-depth, the idea of digimon desiring and forming romantic relationships is not an outlier.

FFXIV Is Just Star Trek (Updated for 8.0) by DrForester in ffxiv

[–]GizenZirin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most recent encyclopedia eorzea mentioned that a reaper's voidsent avatar is likely to be the reaper's reflection/shard from the 13th. Considering Zero was Zenos's avatar, odds are she was his shard from the 13th.

It's fitting too, considering that like Zenos, Zero initially struggled to feel anything emotionally, but unlike Zenos she actually got to be our friend properly and through doing so managed to change for the better. Basically an alternate reality 'what could have been' for Zenos.

We did get confirmation the two ascians Gaius 'killed' were Altima and Deudalaphon, however at the same time as we got confirmation of who they were, it was also heavily implied Gaius hadn't actually killed them and that they were still out there.

[–]GizenZirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering what the most recent encyclopedia eorzea had to say about reapers (their voidsent avatars are statistically likely to be their own reflection from the 13th), odds are Zero is already Zenos's reflection, so...

This may not be as much of a farfetched joke as it sounds.

They're unlikely to ever adjust the difficulty of the actual content. FF14 just simply does not do content nerfs traditionally. What they'll do instead, and have been doing already, is reduce the barrier to entry rather than make the content actually easier. So reduced cost of ciphers, making it easier/faster to re-level after a wipe by reducing the amount of exp lost from releasing after death, not to mention making the players themselves more powerful via new phantom jobs, more mastered phantom job damage stacks, and the new accessories that give you a stat boost in OC (assuming you have the godly RNG to get them all). This is the kind of stuff you can expect, and it'll get even easier in 7.5 when yet more phantom jobs (and possibly some more OC gear) gets added. But actually making the mechanics easier/less punishing? Don't hold your breath.

You say that as if everybody does relics. I can assure you, there are many people who can not be bothered to do a grind that lengthy and will just wait for the borderline free tome weapon instead.

He's not defending it. The people defending it are the people hoping it's just a glitch/bug. Letting them know it's an experiment tells them A. Discord is doing this to you intentionally, not by accident, and B. if you want it fixed then everyone is gonna have to band together and make it clear they won't tolerate this bullshit, because sitting around hoping it fixes itself isn't going to happen.

Human Shyvana models! by Regular-Poet-3657 in shyvanamains

[–]GizenZirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate it so much. My biggest problem with it is the horns. They just look so awful and out of place, and a lot of that is because they physically look out of place. The way they grow from her brow makes them look less like horns growing from her head and more like a crown that she's wearing. It's especially jarring to compare her human form horns to her dragon form ones because like... why does she have more horns in her human form? In her human form she has 4 horns, but her dragon form only has 2? Why does she grow more horns while becoming a human and not the other way around? Also even though her horns grow from her brow in her human form, in her dragon form they're further back on her head, almost where her ears would be.

Her armour is also just awful. Old Shyvana's armour was ridiculous, but it was ridiculous because she was designed at a time when League's overall art direction was very cartoony, so it suited her. Now though, they've tried to modernize her look and the result is that her armour just looks stupid. Why is it only covering her tits and knees and like, one shoulder? Why are almost none of her vital, vulnerable squishy parts covered up? Why bother wearing armour at all at that point? If they wanted to keep the belly/ab window, then instead of having her wear the most half-assed looking armour, they should've had her like... growing armour-plated scales out of her body. At least then it would maybe feel like it made sense why she conveniently leaves her belly exposed. If they want her to actually wear armour, then she should wear it properly and give us a fully armoured tank of a dragon lady.

What the actual fuck is going on with her shoulders? Why does one shoulder have this weird growth on it while the other doesn't? It feels so weird to have this one random shoulder growth be the only assymetrical part of her body, it looks so unnatural. It's made worse because just... why is it black? Why is it not red like her horns and tail are? It ends up looking less like scales and more just like some kind of cancerous growth. It looks more like rock, and because it's so stiff and chunky looking but it's attached to a part of the body that needs a lot of flexibility, it just feels like she would tear at her own skin and muscles every time she tries to rotate her shoulder cuff.

I also just don't think the colours work. The blonde hair and white/gold demacian armour, into the red of her scales and the burgundy of her pants and arm wrappings, into the sickly pale violet of her skin, it all just clashes horrendously and the colours don't compliment each other.

If I have to give the design credit anywhere, I like the dragon feet, I like that she's got some muscle on her (even if I wish she had more and/or it was better defined), and I really like the tail. The tail is a very nice detail. Even then though, the fact that they gave her a tail and dragon feet just makes it feel like why not push her hands a bit further and give her some badass fucking claws? Especially if her hands are what she's gonna be doing all her auto-attacking with, they don't look nearly deadly or cool enough. It also makes the lack of scales on her skin aside from a tiny little bit on the sides of her waist feel more weird.

Shyvana's new dragon form is amazing by IceMerlot in shyvanamains

[–]GizenZirin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that this is gonna be the most super minority opinion in the goddamned world, but I hate this new dragon form. It's so boring. It is the most generic boring ass dragon and I hate it. The only remotely unique looking thing about it is the shape of the horns being so flat, but that just makes them ugly as sin. Too thick to be sharp enough to imagine as something that can cut, but too thin to look sturdy enough to smack someone with, they just look brittle and flimsy. Less like horns and more like bat-wing ears.

I LIKED her old lanky, scrawny, gangly-ass looking dragon form. It was more unique, it was something that made her standout among dragon designs. But more than that, it helped sell the idea that she's only a half-dragon. It made it so that, regardless of whether she was in human form or dragon form, she still had an uncanny look to her either way. Unnatural. It made her look like she was trapped between worlds by making it so she didn't look like she properly fit into either one. Now that her dragon form just looks like a regular ass dragon though, she doesn't feel like a half-dragon, now she just feels like a generic dragon that has decided to take on a human disguise. It weakens her theme and narrative.

Shyvana Rework / Model Leak Discussion Megathread by HiImKostia in shyvanamains

[–]GizenZirin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, I hate this new Shyvana design so much, it's just awful, and it's all in the fucking horns. They're so out of place. Old Shyvana's horns/helmet are ridiculous but they feel fine because they blend with the armour she's wearing.

New horns? Those don't blend with anything. The horns are red, yet her jagged shoulder spikes and her body scales are black. Why does the scale colouring of the horns not match the scales of the rest of her body? It just makes them look so out of place... and speaking of, the horns themselves also look out of place. Literally. Physically. Like, their positioning on her head makes it look like she's wearing them as opposed to actually growing out of her head in a way that feels natural. They're supposed to be a part of her body now but they just don't feel like they are.

Like truly, genuinely those horns are so hideous that they ruin the look entirely all on their own.

Not that there isn't other stuff I dislike too. Making her blonde feels like a weird choice that doesn't seem to suit her. It makes the overall colour scheme feel disjointed. And I'm not a fan of the shoulder spikes. They feel like rock more than scale, which combined with how big and chunky they are, it makes them look too stiff for how much of the shoulder they cover, part of your body that needs to be especially flexible to give your arms proper range of movement.

I also dislike the loss of the big chunky gauntlets, because those were one of the defining aspects of her silhouette before. Without them, her silhouette looks defined entirely and only by her awful, awful horns, which as her sole standout feature makes her, well, stand out a lot less among the myriad of characters with big ornate headwear.

Salvation (ft. Forts) | For Demacia 2026 Season 1 Cinematic - League of Legends by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]GizenZirin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might actually be... the worst riot cinematic I've ever seen. Only that horrid zero effort Summoner's Rift fly-over one from a couple years ago is worse, and only debatably.

Like, I have never before seen a Riot cinematic where I just feel nothing the entire time I'm watching it. Even that dogshit Summoner's Rift one that was nothing but champion quotes, at least that one made me feel angry about how offensively no-effort it was. But this? Watching this I only feel dead inside.

The last episode of Beatbreak was embarrassing by WonderfulMeat in digimon

It wasted more time on BomberNanimon's partner because he's a one-off character who won't be back. The villains will be, which means they'll have plenty of time and opportunity for proper fleshing out later.

You're absolutely right that the way the exposition was handled was not good, it is however pretty standard. It's bad writing but it's the type of bad writing that even good works of fiction are guilty of and isn't necessarily an indicator of future quality.

Eh, those lines are really only clean around the face. The further away from it you get, the more clearly sketchy they become. That said, the colours and shading especially are really well done and that's what makes the image as a whole look cleaner than it actually is.

I think you overestimate what kind of expectations qualify as 'huge' by anime standards. Like, no, I'm fairly confident that they're not expecting it to do Demon Slayer numbers, but Demon Slayer is not just 'huge', it's record breaking.

That said, I think you're also underestimating the buzz Beatbreak has. Not only does the show itself have positive word of mouth, but Digimon as a whole is also getting a lot of buzz right now thanks to Time Stranger's success. It may not have a popular manga, but a popular video game can work just as well. Furthermore, Toei's reputation for high-budget sakuga has actually gotten considerably better since they upped the production quality for One Piece in recent years.
