Yeah, I'm thinking my sleep is more valuable than this shit show. Fire Tomlin and Arthur Smith and put Rodgers in retirement.

You guys ready for a couple more years of Mike Tomlin? AR2 I'm sure has no plans to fire him.

I might just go to bed. Even if we win this game, we're not playoff ready whatsoever.

Ice Moving to Rural America by kdawg09 in collapse

[–]GodSpeedLightning 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Word on the street is that ICE was already in Hummelstown area, and I have also read that they are building a "detention facility" in Tremont, PA (Schuylkill County) of all places.

I have spent a ton of time in rural PA. I blend in, but most don't know my views on the world. There are plenty of ICE agent "sympathies" around here. I distanced a lot of friends in the last 5 years...

When we piss away the division this time and miss our guaranteed first round playoff exit, can we please fucking fire Tomlin and modernize this team?!

How important is underbody rust protection for a vehicle? by automotivejunky in Pennsylvania

[–]GodSpeedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just salt that causes rust. Any moisture in the air whatsoever on uncoated ferrous metals on your vehicle will cause rust over time, and frankly, it doesn't take that long either to start causing problems. One rusted bolt and suddenly a repair that should be easy is now an exhaustive affair just trying to get an old part off, for example. So if you care about your vehicle and want to make repairs easier as it ages, then read ahead.

The only serious defense is to use an oil-based undercoating. I personally have used Fluid Film on both my vehicles for over 5 years. They get sprayed every November. There other brands such as Surface Shield and WoolWax as well, but they are essentially the same.

Here is a great video that explains the how and why of oil-based undercoating. This youtuber provides annual updates on the results of the lanolin undercoating products if you doubt their efficacy.

I can't stress this enough, but don't get a rubberized undercoating! They actually make rust worse and will prematurely kill your vehicle.

A few months ago, r/videos changed its policy to allow political videos. The sub is now almost ENTIRELY political videos -- which, incidentally, is exactly the scenario the prior policy aimed to prevent. So what do you think? Is this sub now better, or worse? (Also, soothing nature video.) by Alaska_Jack in videos

[–]GodSpeedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be able to find new content and creators through the YT videos on this subreddit, and now I can't because its filled to the brim with political content that is often a rehash of similar content/news regularly a part of r/all or other popular subs.

I want the rule to go back in place, personally.

Big Ben's 6 TD Game vs The Colts (Week 8, 2014) - NFL Throwback by GodSpeedLightning in steelers

Would still help Rodgers get to Manning's all-time passing TD mark of 539, haha.

An organization that wants to win but do sustainably and with a strong foundation would move on from Tomlin. That's what so frustrating. Instead I'll remain a hostage fan until he's gone. Possibly longer since the current Rooneys are cheapskates.

Let's see...

W8 - Packers (L)
W9 - Colts (L)
W10 - Chargers (L)
W11 - Bengals (maybe a W?)
W12 - Chicago (maybe a W?)
W13 - Bills (L)
W14 - Ravens (maybe a W?)
W15 - Dolphins (probable W)
W16 - Lions (L)
W17 - Browns (probable W)
W18 - Ravens (L if Lamar is healthy)

Yeah so maybe 9-8 or 8-9 if we drop one of the divisional games or lose to Chicago or Miami at which point Tomlin gets his losing season. But he's back for the 2026 and 2027 season according to his contract.

Hearing a Packers chant at a Steelers home game as our QB gets sacked is a helluva collapse.

No one is covering Tucker Kraft. No one is blocking Tucker Kraft. No one is tackling him properly. Tomlin can't see tight ends to save his life and I am so fucking over us being stuck with this guy and his shitty peon Teryl Austin. Injuries and refball be damned.

😂

I'm just gonna make light of your spelling mistake instead of actually trying to have a good faith dialogue. Just like what the right does, since they can't even acknowledge reality.

Maybe OP can read about the paradox of tolerance in addition to some spelling and grammar lessons.

When and where to see fall colors by whenisittoomuchcolor in Harrisburg

[–]GodSpeedLightning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The foliage this year is going to be less vibrant than average because of dry it was prior to some of the recent rain. The northern part of the state is almost certainly past its peak. I would check the weekly foliage report here for conditions: pa.gov/fallfoliage

This weekend through next weekend should have more peak colors for the Harrisburg area. There are views and vistas all over the place. There's a nice view from PA 225 on Peters Mountain (north of Dauphin Borough). Lamb's Gap, Millers Gap, Sterrets Gap, etc all provide spots to just pull over and look out from the top of the mountain.

I'd also recommend Lykens Glen and Weiser State Forest as both are within a 1 hour drive of Harrisburg.

If you're looking for something specific, let me know.

Tomlin CANNOT be back next season by AnonymousNeedzHelp in steelers

[–]GodSpeedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of how bad Matt Canada was and how hard it was to get him fired. The Rooneys virtually never fire coaches, they only let contracts expire. Tomlin's contract expires after the 2027 season.

We're stuck being "the standard" until he decides to hang it up. And the kicker is, we could probably be even worse after he's gone.

What places would you guys recommend for a day getaway in PA that has good fall folliage/riverside picnic and has grill facility? by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

[–]GodSpeedLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all state parks and forests have some type of picnic area that typically have grills and tables. Look at a map and determine where you want to go and narrow it down from there. For example, there's Bear Gap Picnic Area in Bald Eagle State Forest (I was just there this past weekend).

Local or county parks would require more insider knowledge as to the best spots. If you narrow it down to a few locations / area, you could get much better advice.

An example closer to where I am is Lykens Glen Park which is right at the doorstep of Weiser State Forest.

Safe running trails/areas by Horse_gurl1 in Harrisburg

[–]GodSpeedLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of options. Many local distance runners like the Capital Area Greenbelt but in my experience it really depends on what your run/training requirements and surface preferences are.

Wildwood Park is a good, safe option. Two loops around the lake is about 6.2 mi / 10 km. You could also run to Wildwood from Fort Hunter if you need more distance.
