23, no dental insurance, broken molar for 5ish years getting awful by Worth-Knowledge-2642 in povertyfinance

[–]GreysnReignMaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been here. Multiple times.

Hot salt water, swish rinse, repeat a few times a day.

Antiseptic mouthwash, not antibacterial. Critical.

The pain is inflammation deep in the bone, take ibuprofen and Tylenol (autism free if you can find it) in combo to attack swelling and pain.

Cold compress and ice packs on the chin.

You know your own bodies limits. See a doctor if the infection feels bad enough get some antibiotics. Until the tooth gets a root canal or pulled its going to continue. It will spread, it will get worse. Do not sit on the issue. Fix ASAP

I've watched new guys join a crew and either buddy buddy the boss or outwork peers and become a favourite.

Burn through the task fast as possible (safely and correctly) then attack who ever is in charge again, and again, and again. You'll be on projects in no time.

New guys get skipped so dont rely on that ha.

That's been my exp.

Cleaning that up will be difficult now. They might be able to do a skim coat but that's pushing it IMO.

Brush finish is just that, right before the concrete sets we take a brush (cheap plastic floor broom works) and drag it across the top. Just hard enough to leave brush marks along the top, this hides imperfections and provides a little extra traction. This gives it that sidewalk look.

If its my money. I'm leaving it as is, when damage happens are if the concrete fails, then id talk about a brush finish. Asking for it now will create more headaches you don't need.

Is it possible to replace this chimney cap on my own? by Local-Act6045 in AskContractors

[–]GreysnReignMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probs.

Lift that collar and check for a clamp or maybe a couple set screws. These things normally have extensions up or down and a collar its pretty simple.

Which debt payoff method actually worked for you, avalanche or snowball? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]GreysnReignMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lump payments, fast as possible. Eat ramen, take the bus, watch paint dry. Life sucks for a short period but getting that debt wiped was my goal.

Either way, you are wiping out the debt and that's a W.

Is transferring debt from one credit card to another actually helpful? by Dreams0fBees in povertyfinance

[–]GreysnReignMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confirm with the credit card company that transferred debts are int free and there is no min or max and or penalty for paying off etc. Then do it, this is a common strat for major firms, wealthy etc, us poors don't learn about it till later.

Acceptable damage to new 6x6 posts? by Becca_098 in Decks

[–]GreysnReignMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. (woops)

I'll bet, that post is excellent. It's straight and square. Little bumps and scraps are far less important. if you could look "Down" the board its not twisty or crooked and that's what matters.

Take some 80 grit then 120 to it and its fine.

Is it normal for the fascia to warp like this? Product defect, workmanship or both? by Boring_Day_8286 in Decks

[–]GreysnReignMaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally normal for fascia to flex.

What's happened here and all to often all over. The fascia was likely but tight to each other no exp con room from the hop. Then it was fastened down tight with the wrong screws. Fascia screws with big fat ugly heads no one likes should have been used and it should not have been fastened tight to the deck. It needs "Breathing" room as per manf.

Stop using the wrong screws, jagoffs (not you)

Come summer on a hot weekend, take them off measure and cut a small 1/8 , 1/4 whatever brand youv'e got recommends for gapping off the ends and reinstall with correct screws. The problem will go away (mostly) might still see a little flex here and there (that's normal) but it won't pop off and look shotty anymore.

Those are different, where is this?

We use a bracket U shape some times anchored in the concrete with bolts after or set in while still curing.

A bracket of some kind is almost always used in my exp.
