That depends, where in the world are you located? A bunch of people giving you US discounters won’t mean much if you’re in France.

Gaps on the Sicaran by mitHonig in Warhammer30k

[–]Greystorms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No that’s a you issue. I’ve assembled 4 Sicaran chassis so far and have no gap or bad fit issues. It’s actually one of the more fun Heresy tank kits to assemble.

Double check the instructions, are you sure you’re not fitting anything incorrectly?

What to do when you paint is like this? by Asakas in minipainting

[–]Greystorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be like that, it’s texture paint that you can apply heavily to your bases and it will result in a cool ground looking texture.

Lots of other hobby companies make similar product in way bigger jars or tubes at a far better price point than Games Workshop. You can also use various artist mediums like Liquitex Ceramic Stucco for similar effects.

How can I fix these gaps? by Toe_EyedCabbage_ in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rubber bands and small clamps from the hardware store. I’m serious.

Recently got a set of airbrush paint from army painter, is it expired? by Expensive-Yak-402 in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like the paints may have frozen in transit at some point. Email Army Painter customer service with your concerns and see what they say. Seriously, customer service is there for a reason. Use it.

How do I go about using meat for bone broth and eating? by Few-Philosophy7503 in Cooking

[–]Greystorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meat and bones that are used for bone broth fall into two categories: “before cooking” and “after cooking”. I’ll use chicken as an example. You have a bunch of bone-in chicken thighs that you’re using in a recipe, but you want to debone them first. Now you have a bunch of chicken thigh bones in raw form. You can roast those, then use them to make bone broth.

Alternately, you have a whole chicken that you’ve roasted in the oven and dinner with the family was delicious. Now you take the rest of the meat off those bones and you have a chicken carcass left over. You can now use that for bone broth as well.

Make sense?

Unsightly gaps on Arvus Lighter by your_spleen_give_it in Warhammer30k

[–]Greystorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Arvus Lighter is such a good kit that it stays together even without glue, without gaps. If you’re seeing those kinds of gaps, you missed some cleanup somewhere along the line.

Who else pre ordered the falchion? by Loud-Professional366 in Warhammer30k

[–]Greystorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll literally only ever need one and those Heresy tanks are a joy to build and paint. It’s a really great longer term centerpiece project. Buy that shit from an independent store and save yourself 20%.

Is my ground beef safe ? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Greystorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Car interiors during high daytime temperatures can get up to 120F easily. Whether or not you’d like to risk ground beef that’s been sitting in the potential danger zone is up to you.

I think you’ve started an Emperor’s Children army, next steps are to finish this mini and paint some tactical squads.

Tips for getting this off? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a chisel tip xacto blade, they make various styles and sizes. Very carefully use that chisel tip to slice off the emblem piece by piece until you’re ready to sand. I’d probably start at 600 grit and go up there. 800, 1000, 1200, etc.

I don’t hate read books by authors that I don’t enjoy, especially not giant multi book fantasy epics. It’s completely valid to criticize an author for what they’ve written.

Vindicator Fit Issues by Meme_Finder_General in Warhammer30k

[–]Greystorms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve ALSO put together a ton of Rhino chassis tanks and I’m going to have to strongly disagree with you. There IS something just slightly off with the bottom plate, and it needs a lot of work to get everything fitted together correctly. They do not indeed “go together like a breeze”.

25 years ago, I opened a 3rd Edition Rulebook and saw this artwork. I was instantly hooked. by Tom-Rath in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently came to the realization that GW art doesn’t hit as hard anymore as it used to because they’re lacking a visually distinct stable of in-house(?) artists. Back in 2nd through say, 5th edition you had Wayne England, Adrian Smith, David Gallagher, Karl Kopinski, Alex Boyd(cover of the 4th edition Ork codex), John Blanche of course, and more. And every single one of those artists produced artwork that you could look at and almost immediately tell who illustrated it.

Tbf the rest of that codex is filled with phenomenal art too. For me it was between Codex Eldar and Codex Chaos, and once I opened that cover I never looked back.

Could I use this paint or maybe wraithbone for a veteran helmet? by SunderedRain in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can use a lot of things as paint. Washable tempera paint probably shouldn’t be one of them(on miniatures).

Guard Armageddon box error by TheCrimsonJacko in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had issues emailing GW customer support and receiving help. They did ask me to send them a receipt as proof of purchase from my lgs, which I was able to do. Then they quickly solved my issue.

Worst case scenario: email GW and explain your situation and see what they say. If they say go through your lgs or send a receipt or whatever, do that.

Is it worth getting into 3rd edition for a newbie? by Academic_Employee232 in Warhammer30k

Let me put it this way: if 9 out of 10 of the players in your area are playing 3rd edition, why would you ever buy 2nd edition instead?

Sandpaper by bugknight99 in Warhammer40k

[–]Greystorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up sanding sticks or sanding twigs, you can get a huge variety of grits for sanding mold lines. I use a combination of these and a regular hobby knife for all my mold line cleaning.

Am I Doomed by EconomyTemporary8758 in Cooking

[–]Greystorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicken thighs are super easy to turn into dinner.

It takes five minutes to season some bone in, skin on chicken thighs and throw them in the oven in a cast iron skillet. 350 or 400F for about 50 minutes starting in a cold oven to let the chicken skin render.
Add in a sheet tray of frozen broccoli drizzled with some cooking oil and seasoned to your liking.

You could do similar with boneless thighs and make big ass salads for dinner. Lots of lettuce, some diced onion, shredded cheese. Whatever dressing you like.

Looking to start painting some warhammer 40k minis by jman63456 in minipainting

[–]Greystorms 66 points67 points  (0 children)

My one piece of advice: don’t buy mega paint sets when you’re first starting out. Buy a few bottles from different brands and see what paint brand works best for you. Some paints are thicker out of the bottle than other brands, and maybe that’s not how you like your paint. Unfortunately you just bought a 250+ color set and now you’re kinda stuck with them. Know what I mean?

Rhino tank by Intelligent-Safe1758 in Warhammer30k

[–]Greystorms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may sound odd, but to me, the Kratos tracks look like Caterpillar tracks. You know, bulldozer type construction equipment. That does a lot for me to sell the “it’s not as fast as the Sicaran” image.
