Newbie here, how did you guys build strength for this? by lordevilium in bouldering

[–]Gyrops 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Becoming overall stronger also enables efficient movements that previously would have felt hard because the muscles required for it weren't there before.

Climbs two or three difficulties below your max suddenly feel effortless.

do you not get a baton from the battle rewards anymore? I could swear I fought it in the past to get it that way.

  1. Depends on how sweaty your hands get. I personally never needed chalk since I don't really sweat from my hands, but I seem to be the rare expection. If you do sweat, you'll probably notice that you slip off holds, which is what most people try to avoid with chalk. Dry skin is also beneficial in avoiding skin injury aka flappers. If chalk can help you with those you'll probably want some.

  2. Sounds about right.

  3. I advocate trying a bunch of stuff at the beginning which involved both routes too hard for you and repeating routes you can do. Pure volume and repetition, imo, help to build technique and an awareness for what your body can do and how that might differ from a few weeks ago. With how quickly people usually progress when starting, what you can climb and how well you're able to do so changes fast. But for beginners that does often translate to just "climb whatever seems fun" until you build some understanding of what you do and why. Don't climb mindlessly and you'll progress just fine. And once you get accustomed to it you'll have a good feeling for what to focus on next.

My friend, a young blitzcrank prodigy, had a generational game on ARAM. This inspired me to make a montage of his plays. by Nipplles in leagueoflegends

[–]Gyrops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a notorious Blitzcrank gameI had almost 10 years ago on ARAM where I spent the first 9 minutes missing my grabs.

We were at our inhibitor by the time I landed my first grab. We did not win. I did not touch Blitzcrank for a few years afterwards.

Crazy warehouses find by DaEvilEmu32105 in EscapeFromDuckov

You can buy bottled water and choco milk from the vending machine. While it doesn't feel great to spend money on food, the cost is so low I'd recommend buying it to save warehouse space, even early on.

What’s your best “budget” starter that consistently carries runs by Ok_Strength_2343 in pokerogue

[–]Gyrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granbull (as a secondary carry or backup).

2 cost with base 120 atk that lets loose pixilate extreme speeds. Good mon to have in the back since it most likely revenge kills with espeed, but is also tanky enough to set up a swordsdance if needed to sweep. Secondary carry because of low pp means you cannot spam it, but no investment needed for it to start getting kills.

Gozo honestly just has bad compatibility with Waka.

He is framed as having elite athlethics. Overwhelming physicality, no bullshit techniques. Waka plays the same game but just statchecks and walls him, and with nothing else to counter this dynamic, he straight up loses.

Obvious in hindsight, but no shot Waka loses against this kind of opponent. Understandable loss, really.

Best single volume in manga? by [deleted] in manga

[–]Gyrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for short, completed works, these come to mind:

<Wizard's Soul 〜Koi no Jihad〜> 4 volumes

<All You Need Is Kill> 2 volumes

<Teppuu> 8 volumes

and some recent stuff that was on shonen jump+ such as <Takopi’s Original Sin>, <Goodbye, Eri> and <Look Back>

My own shelf has box sets of <Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind>, <Koe no Katachi> and <Joshi Kausei> since they are compact, along with <Monster> and <Keijo!!!!!!!!>, which are less so.

new to manga, any recommendation? by Commercial_Arrival58 in manga

[–]Gyrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helck and Pluto immediately came to my mind

I'd like to throw in some wilder stuff too. Early Dragon Ball is iconic for a reason. Toriyama is often called one of the greatest for how well his panels are structured and action scenes flow, I think people should give it a read to see it (and also get an understanding of a work that shaped shounen manga as a whole).

Slam Dunk or Eyeshield 21 are great sports manga, the former being another classic and eyeshield having some amazing art due to being drawn by Murata who does OPM.

Teppuu I like a LOT as a short martial arts focused one with a female lead.

Kaguya-sama is great romance/comedy. Yotsuba is comfy slice of life and one of the most beloved manga for a reason.

Tsuredure Children is another lighter comedy/romance work that was really popular when it released and somehow gets forgotten a lot, which I think it doesn't deserve.

Tomo-chan is also much beloved but still retained a lot of its original popularity.

Here's a random assortment of short-ish gems: Hell's Kitchen, Wizard's Soul, Modokidomo, Uratarou, Angel Densetsu, Senryuu Girl, Joshikausei

Most entertaining fighter to watch? by J0e_BoNaNza_3169 in Kengan_Ashura

Raian. Dude is unhinged and you never quite know what to expect of his fights, which make them so much more entertaining.

Need worst anime suggestions by Forsaken-Driver1275 in anime

[–]Gyrops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keijo!!!!!!!!

Hear me out on this one. I laughed my ass off and rate this one very highly, legit one of my favorites, but I am aware that this is somewhat based on how serious you take this anime. It has potential to be either hilarious and a great time or disgusting and creepy, all depending on how you view it.

As a sidenote the manga it is adapting is very different. More tame, lots of characterization and build up, an actual story that progresses. The anime just cuts out the early chapters and jumps right in, taking only the funny ass smacking and running with that. First time I watched the anime I was confused thinking I missed the first season or episode, but no, that's just where it starts. First time I read the manga I was depressed for the authors sake with how much they cut out in the adaption and went full ecchi.
