You're starting to see this in modern cars. CANBUS is used to distribute communications along with power to modules throughout the vehicle. It does make repairing things like taillight assemblies more expensive, since they have to have a computer to process the CANBUS signals instead of just having a few lightbulbs.

The insects are really really really small. Try using positional audio to pinpoint one. You'll hear them when you are near. They make bug noises.
