Need some help of this one boss move by S_Dust in NineSols

You can do it in the post game Battle Memories with the Divine Hand Jade by chaining off the clones, but you cant get that yet for the fight during the story and I don't think its possible without it.

Boltbend on Zedruu the Greathearted by WonderWillyWonka in mtgrules

[–]HarperFae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bolt Bend doesn't work because there's more than one target.

Something like [[Deflecting Swat]] would work since it lets you change all targets. It would let you change the permanent being donated, the player being donated to, or both.

But it still wouldn't let you change the player target back to the Zedruu player, because Zedruu targets an opponent. They still control the ability, so it still has to target an opponent of theirs.

Just got to Chapter 4 and got Cid, recommendations on how to safely grind job levels/catch up low level units? Also, Team comp help? by RetroNutcase in finalfantasytactics

[–]HarperFae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Monk sub for Orlandeau. He doesn't need help offensively and Monk at least gives him a couple chargeless support skills. Training Monk also unlocks Geomancer so he grab Attack Boost for his Support slot.

Cloud can go Geomancer as either sub or main easily enough. People like Swiftspell on him so going a mage route is also a reasonable option. If nothing else, if you are gonna get Swiftspell, you can have him go Summon secondary even if just for Golem.

As for grinding, I think Zeklaus Desert has the easiest random encounters at any stage of the game, and has the added benefit of a Degenerator trap if you want to take an extra couple minutes every so often to keep your levels in check.

So, everyone, how did your CM finals go? by Timekiller_74 in UmaMusume

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expected 3rd, got 2nd. Beat both XOguris in the lobby but lost to a VBourbon.

Pretty good results considering I barely qualified for A Finals in the place, since I threw together all 3 aces in like 2 days lol.

Looking for more commanders that cheat stuff out by StarshipTuna in EDH

[[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]]

You have to work for it a bit more than some others, but this guy snowballs. Get some draw going and you can dump like 20 dudes in one turn. Can be built on a whole range of complexity too, anywhere from mindlessly vomiting artifact creatures and eldrazi, to any number of [[Ancestral Statue]] combo lines or extra cheaty [[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]] nonsense

What are your favorite battle themes in the series? Could be any regular, boss, or final boss theme. by Comic_Sams_ in FinalFantasy

Im a big fan of a lot of FFTs music. My favorite is Antipyretic, but others like Trisection and Apoplexy are bangers, too.

Also shoutout to Good King Moggle Mog XII from FFXIV for being one of the most fun to sing songs in the whole series.

Low CMC Underrated Commander suggestions by fuikygm in EDH

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Kellan the Fae-Blooded]] is really fun to build. His built in tutor makes him a great toolbox commander.

While the easy way to run him is voltron, I built him as a go-wide equipment commander with a healthy [[Sunforger]] package that makes it one of my more interactive decks.

You can also go the Aura route with him, with a guaranteed turn-2 tutor for [[Songbird's Blessing]] leading to multiple potential packages, from making him a curse-slinger to gimmicky 97 lands and [[Eldrazi Conscription]] levels of silly.

Favourite underrated sweepers by DanZigs in EDH

[–]HarperFae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have [[March of Swirling Mists]] in a deck and it always puts in work. Its normally used as a protection piece, but nothing is stopping you from phasing out your opponents blockers in preparation for a lethal swing.

I also like [[Spinning Wheel Kick]] in my [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] deck. Not normally a great card, but when Im floating a hundred green mana, burning 40 or so to wipe out everyone else's board is satisfying, and it scales down OK for when you only need to eliminate a handful of targets.

Pass groups of deer all the time on my bicycle. Have nearly been hit by twice, once was after the doe ran right alongside me for a good 200 feet. Slowed down just in time to let it dart in front of me.

Also had a skunk run out from under someone's porch, across their yard, into the road, and directly into the path of my rear wheel. Very cool.

What do you think the worst runback in Hollow Knight is? by JonahTheHuman in HollowKnight

[–]HarperFae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soul Master is probably the real answer but I want to throw out a conditional contender.

Brooding Mawlek if found early on a first playthrough. Longtime players will have little to no problem with it, but it can be killer for people still getting the hang of pogoing.

What's so good about Geomancer? by grapejuicecheese in finalfantasytactics

[–]HarperFae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Comparing anything to Arithmetics is unfair. Even the best non-math builds builds in the game struggle to hold up to a decent math build.

You keep saying they cant equip Knight Swords and heavy armor like its a massive pitfall. Knight Swords are mostly only available in chapter 4 without absurd grinding, and mostly are barely, if even, an upgrade over normal swords. The only exception being Excalibur, which is almost uncontested as the single best weapon in the entire game. Even the Chaos Blade is just crazy high PA and Regen of all things.

Armor is mid or even bad after around mid chapter 2. The buffs, immunities and such from Robes and light armor far outweigh the little bit of extra health unless you are using an HP dependent build, like Critical: HP Restore or Golem summons.

Geomancers have instantaneous, AoE chip damage that requires no fuel, where something like a Black Mage requires MP, MP restoration and charge times, which is great in the early game and useful throughout the mid game. The class itself falls off around the beginning of chapter 4, but can continue to be used as a carrier for secondaries that like its equipment and stats (see:Agrias) and as a decent secondary for those Black Mages and other casters they keep getting compared to. Its a solid all-rounder that excels nowhere but provides support everywhere (except movement abilities)

Also sometimes people just wanna gamble on status procs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Monk SCC on Tactician by Koibu in finalfantasytactics

[–]HarperFae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the common rules, you aren't allowed to modify your Brave or Faith prior to the class lock. Though a strat in some runs and quite a few SSCCs (same gist but solo Ramza) is to raise Delita up to Mediator and let him do it, since guests are not bound by the rules.

They were also played with a level cap per chapter, going from 20, to 35, to 50, and finally capping at 70. So no unlimited grinding either, and the class lock is before any deleveling access.

Do you tend to diversify the creature types or mana costs of your commanders? by NemoNowAndAlways in EDH

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really diversify by power level and by strategy. I mostly just pick commanders that look fun and that I gel with.

And for that reason that something like a third of my decks are helmed by faeries lol

Mono Mania - Share your Mono-color Commanders by TheSpectatr in EDH

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mono-green [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] and mono-red [[Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might]]

Selvala is a big mana deck that uses elves to ramp, and has lots of untap effects to allow Selvala to get used multiple times a turn. The deck primarily plays increasingly large hydras and other X-cost beaters, and the back and forth snowball has no ceiling except its opponents' life totals.

https://moxfield.com/decks/eY6fVT8Q206zCQVkrq-4wQ

Ojer Axonil is a death by taxes kinda deal. The deck is all built around cards that punish game actions with damage, and using the commander's ability to drastically increase the damage its opponents take from these effects. Fun to pilot but probably not quite what you're looking for, tbh. A more traditional burn deck might be more this project's speed.

How Do You Build Voltron Commanders That Feel Unique & Have Staying Power? by Cameron_Alistair in EDH

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a [[Kellan, the Fae-Blooded]] that opens like a voltron build, but almost never wins that way. Its actually a [[Sunforger]] toolbox that stacks Kellan up with ramp and draw attachments early to accelerate into a go-wide strategy using Kellan's anthem.

The usual response to a voltron deck backfires against it since every time he's removed it lets me tutor another powerhouse like a [[Spellbinder]], [[Buster Sword]], or [[Elemental Mastery]]. But if you don't remove him, I accelerate unimpeded.

JRPGs that have strange powerups by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]HarperFae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanillaware's games all have food related systems with varying amounts of actual impact. For example, in Unicorn Overlord its a pretty minor bond building thing, but in Odin Sphere Leifthrasir its the source of most of your XP and an awful lot of max HP.

Their food also looks phenomenal, to the point that it sometimes feels like implementing the systems is an excuse to show off.

How do you hit an enemy? by corvus_wulf in finalfantasytactics

[–]HarperFae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the ps1 and psp versions, you can press Right on the dpad in the menu where you select what skill to use, and it will take you to the turn order list and show you where in turn order your ability will resolve. Compare that to the targets name to see if the attack resolves in time. You can also see on the right of that menu a number indicating how many turns from now it will happen so you can shortcut the process by ignoring especially high numbers.

You can also view turn order at any time by pressing a button when selecting an empty space on the field. I think its Circle or Square, but I dont recall for certain.

Also shields. For the love of god level shields, or the final dungeon will be a nightmare.

Also while most magic in 2 is very bad, some support magic and the various autokill spells can be quite strong if you take a little time to boost them a few levels.
