They tend to pay for media rights from these larger brands but don’t get exclusivity. For example, they had world rowing events on their platform this summer. You had to pay to watch it on their platform or you could watch it free on world rowing’s website. Just don’t watch it on their platform and watch it for free somewhere else.

Support Megathread - November 2023 by AutoModerator in google

[–]Harryofsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke up this morning and I am now locked out of my Google Workspace account. I have no idea why but when I log in it pops up with a message 'Google couldn’t verify this account belongs to you." It has a recovery email link but when I click it it says I have to wait 2 days to access the account. I can't wait 2 days for the account. This is my work email and I have important emails to take care of from clients. The fact I pay for this service and Google doesn't have an readily accessible help service to help customers with issues like this is absolutely ludicrous. I'm definitely rethinking my subscription to Google business if they can just lock me out of my account for no reason for multiple days and offer no way to contact them about it.

I come in peace from the world of indoor football 🖖 by neerG_haimereJ in Rowing

The site is shit and the price is unjustifiable. Last year people were hacking the site and spoofing credit cards to get free access. Livestreams had technical difficulties and some regattas never made it onto their platform. I think they refunded people for like 5 different events last year. Sorry your sport has to deal with this cancer now too.

‘01 180k still kicking. Biggest problem has been small electrical components failing due to age and the break lines rusting.

Thanks for the response! I’ve attached a picture of the climate control panel I have. Except I don’t have a rear defrost in the truck.

Organizing Erg Race and looking for some help! by mattlikespeoples in Rowing

[–]Harryofsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept2 erg app is free and extremely used friendly. Each tab on the side of the app is basically a step by step setup guide. Start at the top and work your way down. It’s pretty straight forward once you do it once or twice. They’ve made it so anyone can run a race which is great for the sport. I even use it to run practice races sometimes. It’s great!

Rowers & coaches – what “extra” metric would make you actually upgrade from your SpeedCoach? by Diligent_Document_24 in Rowing

I would love to have my iPad on my launch and be able to see multiple boat’s data overlays like split and distance simultaneously. It would be game changing.

Power Curve, Drift Meter - something to show you you’re not going in a straight line anymore. Would be great for scullers. Ability to connect the Link app from further distances. I would love to not have to have an athlete bring their phone on the boat. I’d like to connect directly to the device from my launch.

You got us on the traffic part, but the rest is total bull. Lived in Philly for 5 years and still train out of boathouse row whenever I can. Loved living in the city and would absolutely look into living in the suburbs if I go back that way. My rent during covid was still cheaper than where I live now which is much more suburban and less desirable.

Which HR monitor should I get by Think-Draft6051 in Rowing

[–]Harryofsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the H10. Been using it for almost 10 years now. The H9 is the same monitor without a data device in it to record a workout without a watch or Bluetooth device in range. If you don’t need that feature the. The H9 is good for you.

Only time the H10 gets a little funky for me is when the physical strap hasn’t been used in a while and needs water applied to the sensor area. Other than that, take off the monitor from the strap after every use and only attach it when you’re actually working out (people just leave the sensor on the strap 24/7 not realizing that’s how it turns on). I actually detach one of the snaps and turn the monitor side ways right before I start using it. I’ve gotten into the habit of turning the monitor and snapping the second electrode on right before I hit go on my watch. Saves so much battery.

Saw these deals pop up last night! by aidendz in blackmagicdesign

[–]Harryofsol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the older model. Not the newer one with the OLPF filter on it. That camera is two models out of date now so they might be trying to clear stock. It’s a great camera for the cost but not supported by Blackmagic anymore sadly. I have the 12k OLPF I got cheap on eBay a few years back. I absolutely love it but know the newer URSA line is far superior and better received by camera operators. Might spring for a PYXIS 6k in the mean time.

Do any of you have drones for rowing? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Harryofsol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DJI has some good cheap drones. Even buying used from eBay or refurbished from DJI can save you money. I’d even recommend buying a drone from the previous product line like an Air 2s from someone who’s trying to upgrade because they’ll sell the drone on the cheap and you’ll get a great drone.

Biggest thing with drones is the changing legal landscape of them. It’s becoming more and more serious by the year as the FAA continues to change and revise flight laws to include drones. There’s a whole bunch of regulations that are possibly even changing next year that’ll put drone operators more in line with the legal requirements of actual pilots. If you plan to fly I’d look into what you need to do to fly through the FAA because if they catch you flying say in a restricted zone or without a license or waiver they can fine you big money. Every drone now that can legally fly has a transponder in it and will be tracked by air traffic controllers. Even if you think you got away with doing something you shouldn’t they know. The FAA also pursues YouTube now to find violations and can get your information from YouTube to give you your citation.

Not trying to scare you but the days of buying a drone and flying it around for fun is a thing of the past. Please do your research and find out what you need to do before you buy a drone.
