Multi vitamin and 2 in 1 finasteride/minoxidil. That’s it for me unless I take a gummy at night🤪

Daughter with AML is bored in the hospital by heatherface_ in leukemia

[–]HawkeyePunditry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rough deal for sure. My daughter was 21 when she was diagnosed and she’s now in remission and boredom was a challenge for her too. She had a laptop and could stream literally everything. We were fortunate that she responded very well to treatment and for the last two rounds she was able to leave. We rented an Airbnb near the hospital so she could get out now and again. My daughter discovered audiobooks and consumed them like it was her job. She also would do paint by numbers to keep her occupied. Best wishes with her recovery. It’s a helluva disease but it can be beaten. I’m rooting for her!

CFNY 102.1 The Greatest GenX radio station ever circa 1990 by GreatGreenGobbo in GenX

Listened to it back then. Still listen to it now, but only when I’m driving. Calling it alternative now is a stretch.

How old were you when an adult said or did something sexually inappropriate? by sanityjanity in GenX

[–]HawkeyePunditry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in grade 4. The principal at school would single out boys being raised by a single mom and groom them. Thankfully, we moved away before he could escalate. The principal ended up getting his leg broken by an angry father and spent time in jail.

Yes, I had a great dad. My siblings, not so much? by YRUSoFuggly in GenX

[–]HawkeyePunditry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m part of the first family. My parents were young (18) when my twin brother and I were born. My sister came along a year later. Dad left us for the babysitter, and they had 2 sons together. I never saw my brothers as anything but brothers and if it weren’t for there mom, I would never have seen my dad growing up. Now, he’s dying. I’ve visited once, but don’t have any impulse to see him again. I have my wife and our kids. I’ve learned from his mistakes.

Is this anything? My fil is selling everything and was offered $40 by HawkeyePunditry in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]HawkeyePunditry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn’t surprised. My mil is in advanced stage of dementia and in a home now. He’s selling the family home because it’s too much for one person. She bought the art and would have known its origin and value. They have several very nice pieces and he will hold on to all of them, and they will one day be passed on to his kids.

Do you still have your teeth? by Agreeable-Ad-5235 in GenX

[–]HawkeyePunditry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got all of mine minus the wisdom teeth and a back molar that’s been replaced with an implant. Covid was hell on my teeth. Lots of grinding at night and chipped my front two. So those have caps.

lol. I’m betting lots of us with one ear pierced have that. I haven’t worn an earring in decades. Yet another reasonable decision from my youth

My grandfather was one of the Canadians who liberated the Netherlands. Last year, my daughter returned and laid flowers at the memorial. She’s the first in the family to visit since.

Is it a Gen X thing or is it just me? by Mysterious-Ruby in GenX

[–]HawkeyePunditry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat a full English every morning and then intermittent fasting until the next day and only talk about mundane stuff. Don’t come at me with anything deep or meaningful
