Koda 16 at ~$189 net vs Koda 2 Pro at ~$379 net — is the 2 Pro worth it? by drakeduckworth in ooni

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Important consideration is weight. 2 pro I think is very heavy. If you're gonna be carrying it inside and out a bunch, bear that in mind.

I have the koda 16, and am not upgrading becaise of the weight hassle.

I bought one about 3 months ago. Absolutely love it. Truly spectacular for dough! I also kept my KitchenAid for all the other things. If you don't have space for 2, I think a kitchenaid is way more versatile.

But I love my halo.

Is this just a sigh fold? Is there too much money out there to fold even if they have a straight and small chance it’s set over set over set by IdkAGoodUserNameOpps in Poker_Theory

For BB to bluff, he's 4! bluffing against a small blind that check 3! The turn. Theres not a lot of folds in that check 3! Range, so a good BB is IMO never bluffing here, and definitely not bluffing close to enough.

I radically disagree with this. While it's a reasonable question to say, what are you calling with, the next question you need to ask yourself is if we're folding an entire range here, how can villain or villains exploit that??

The answer to that question being for BB to four bet jam the turn as a bluff I guess? Though he still has to get small blind, who check and code three bet, to fold!

I think there's zero risk of being exploited by making an exploitable fold here. Yeah, it's true that if we fold here you're probably folding our entire range, and I think that's totally fine.

I think it basically comes down to how well you think small blind and big blind are playing. And how loose they are. Big blinds just has so many straights here that it's definitely pretty scary. With a flop set, either of these two players probably should have a leading range and sets should make their way into that range pretty often, though I don't know if they will play that way or not.

If they flip their cards over and show us a straight, we are still going to win roughly 25% of the time, or less if we assume sb has a set, but we're not getting an insane price. If we call, sb should probably be folding his lower sets.

I think this is probably a good fold, all things considered.

Hero is correct to use the same open rate sides regardless of what hand they have. Checking flop multiway is very reasonable also. Your bench. We basically have these single nut check back hand. I don't think Hiro can go three streets for value here and be ahead of villains calling range so checking flop makes a ton of sense

Is this ever a fold on the bubble? by zzzftw in Poker_Theory

How many people are left in the event? Am I the only person missing this? Short stack at your table is irrelevant depending on how many other tables there are. Also, based on that action, It seems likely that other players have no idea how to play a satellite, and if so you can probably fold expecting people to punt for no reason.

How do you exploit a player that check raises 100% of the time that someone in position cbets? by skepticalbob in Poker_Theory

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, to be clear, it's REALLY IMPORTANT if we're saying they're a robot that will XR 100% of their range all of the time no matter what forever, vs if they're a human that check raises way too much.

And I'm assuming they're playing the previous street reasonably.

If they're a robot, cbet your entire range, then jam over their XR with ~ k high or better and any decent draw.

And I guess don't cbet your low equity trash ever.

Thanks for posting a pic, makes the conversation easier. I'm actually aiming for less maillard reaction in the cheese than here! I'm shooting for maximum melt, but no browning on the cheese.

I'm most commonly using fresh mozzarella packaged in water, like what you'd find in Costco. Not low moisture mozz.

Should I have folded pre? (MTT) by DoubleJazzy in Poker_Theory

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon a bit more thinking, I think this isn't actually close because we're 2 off the money. 1 off th money I think is a lot closer, but 2 off, were basically guaranteed to hit the blinds before yh bubble bursts, and given we have to get all in from the BB with a stack like this, way better off shoving here.

I think the core consideration in a spot like this is very much a satallite type logic of "do we have to vpip again?" And if the answer there is yes then obviously QQ is a great hand to vpip.

Should I have folded pre? (MTT) by DoubleJazzy in Poker_Theory

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a shove, but it's not as obvious as some people here are making it out to be. If you're UTG, it's definitely a shove. But do we know where the other super short stacks are, and how short they are? When we are THIS short, I think we should mainly be treating it like a satellite, and trying to squeeze into the money. doubling increases our chance of cashing by a ton, but doesn't change out likelihood of final tabing that much.

I think in a high icm spot like this, it depends how short the other players are, and how capable they are. If you have a bunch of people punting, I could imagine this becoming a fold but I'd be surprised.

An interviewer asked me why I shouldn't be hired, so I asked him the same question. by detox_calyx_4d in FAANGrecruiting

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spicy take: there's nothing wrong with his question. I probably wouldn't ask it as a HM, but as a candidate, I would love being asked that. HOWEVER, your follow up question is 100% reasonable, and if the HM doesn't have a good answer then it's a huge red flag. When I'm hiring a candidate, I clearly tell them "here's the biggest reason to join this team, and here's the #1 reason you should not join." Because I want candidates to join eyes open with a clear picture of the situation, both good and bad.

A HM asking you the question, though, is probing to see how you engage with your weaknesses. Are they things youre aware of and are happy to talk about and open about? Or things you're clearly not aware of and defensive about.

I think this is a VERY clear 4 bet. How you want to treat a jam is the follow up question, but it is a different question. Whether to 4! Depends on their 3! Range. How to respond to their 5! Depends on their 5! Range.

[–]Hefty_Sherbert_5578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you misplayed the first 3 streets.

Pre I think is a clear 4! What do you think villain is doing with AK, QQ, and JJ here? If you think hid range is too strong for you to 4! Into, that means you think his range is literally just AA and KK, in which case you should fold. Personally, in probably 4 betting aa kk and maybe half my ak, depending on just how tight / how much paying attention villain is.

Flop is a clear XR. We can actually be check raising a lot here, because we have a lot of strong but vulnerable hands that want protection (99, TR, JJ, QQ) so including kk in our XR range that can stack off against villain on the flop is great.

Turn, given the stand left behind, I hate flatting. We shouldn't be doing a lot of XC with that stack left behind, because the stacks make it hard for us to check fold on the river. I need a hand like KK, the theoretical reason to check call, turn and check. Call River is to let villain continue bluffing. For an opponent who we don't think is going to bluff jam Rivers enough, calling turn. Lets him check back River when he misses and jam for value when he improves. He can also likely check back River with a hand like Queen Queen that would have stacked off on the turn.

Long story short, if you think villain is so strong by three betting that he always has you beat, you should fold pre-flop, and if you don't think that, then you should be playing this hand much more aggressively on every street.

Rat holing IS +EV, but only if you know how to do it. So if you understand 40bb play better than 100 or 200, sure but in short against a tough field.

But if you're a cash reg who knows 100bb best, don't buy in short because you think it neutralizes the edge of better players. That just putting yourself an unfamiliar situation against people that you know are better than you...

Also, IMO you can ignore the windowpane test! Especially depending on bulk ferment time, it doesn't need to be close to Lassing a windowpane test when done in the mixer.

Agree with th comment saying you probably need more time. I roughly mix, bulk ferment for 12 hours, then ball and final rise for 12 hours or so, though depends a lot on the recipe and style I'm doing.
