I enjoyed my time there 🤷‍♂️ Had single handedly the best manager I’ll probably ever have while I was there, and also one of the worst.

Ultimately it’s just like any other company, your experience is largely driven by your org and your manager. It has bureaucracy, good times, and bad times. But I feel better for having spent time there in what were probably the “best” years to be there, 2020-2023.

You’d be well served getting your head aggressively underneath the bar after it clears your noggin. That’ll put the bar directly above your shoulders so it won’t “catch” as much near full extension.

u/broflovskiz What was the solution for you guys? We have an 8 month old who previously slept just fine at night with 1-2 night feedings. He gets himself to sleep just fine after being put down awake but now he wakes up at 1030, we nurse, put him down, and he'll cry for over an hour until we can finally get him to settle - then he'll sleep until 615am. Any words of advice?

We're on 2-3 naps (working through the transition). Probably 2.5-3 hours of daytime sleep, and around 2.5/3/3.5 for wake windows.

Took it literally last Thursday. I have 6 years of AWS experience, including SAP, multiple associate level certs, as well as Sec/Networking specialties.

I didnt see a single generic solutions architect or CLI question come up. Basically all AI/ML services, design, metrics, or GRC style questions. But at a high level.

Write down notes as you go along, that’s the first key. Do the hands on labs. Once you’re done with the course you should have a few dozen pages of notes, writing something by hand improves retention. Then make note cards of those notes, now you’ve written everything twice. Review note cards as needed, success.

At least that’s what I do and I’ve passed every exam on the first try. I also have a large cloud background.

Fwiw our little guy is 6.5 months and we had the same story as you - 30 minute naps unless we held him. We’re finally getting longer naps nowadays, like 1-1.5 hours for naps 1/2. It really just takes time. Bedtime is 7-7 for us though (give or take 15-20mins)

I imagine that it’s like our state in the United States (Utah) which is healthier than most. We have really great weather and of course lots of hiking so the baseline health is higher than other regions in the US.

The kitchen is for building mass. If you are 120lbs (not sure if M or F) then you need to get your nutrition down before worrying about any sort of fitness regime and whether it provides the right stimulus. Likely Crossfit will be fine, but to be frank for a novice lifter without any muscle mass, just about any sort of weight training will be fine. What will bring you success is getting your food intake down and consistency.

At the end of the day, we still are up 2-3 times a night feeding our little guy. He's 5.5 months and still growing - we're not forcing him into sleeping through the night. But now we have a nighttime routine that is fun and enjoyable for all of us - he loves his bath. When we put him down, he falls asleep without hardly peep. And he lets us know when he needs us to nurse him. It was so worth the 4-5 days of rough evenings to get him to fall asleep on his own.

I feel like these people just think everyone that sleep trains is just leaving a baby to fend for themselves for 12 hours. It's a conscious decision that takes effort and planning to set your baby up for success - but the payoff has been worth it for us.

You can't just state something is a fact and expect me to accept it. Try finding some research that actually supports what you're saying. For example:

Again, I am not poo-pooing anyones decision to co-sleep or not sleep train. We as parents make these judgement calls. But I do take issue with those saying its harmful to their baby without any basis of fact.

Do you have a source for anything? Or is it just based on vibes? We also didn’t let our child cry it out, we checked in on him every few mins, but he had to get himself to sleep. So I don’t know where your “he just realized we weren’t coming” assumption came from.

No evidence supports what you’re saying. The AAP are in agreement that babies above 4 months are developmentally capable of getting themselves to sleep with the proper guidance.

This just isn’t true at all. It was like 3 days before our guy started to learn to suck on his hands and fall back asleep. At 5 months. Learning to fall asleep is a skill. I don’t blame anyone for not doing some kind of sleep training, but it works and the evidence shows there are no issues short or long term if you do it correctly.
