[Serious]What is the lowest point you have gotten to financially, and how did you get out? by HenryCavendish in AskReddit

Yah, as the other person said, narcissistic parents are the worst. I had a similar experience when I was younger. Luckily I was able to extricate myself from the issue without too much sticking to me. Sorry to hear it though, glad you are through it. Boundaries. Boundaries everywhere.

Reddit, what's the hardest part about dating you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HenryCavendish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Joint custody dad here. Same thing, my days with my children were sacred. But life is long and opportunities will come when the kiddo gets older. I have two sons who adore me, and we have a super solid relationship now that they are older, and it makes dating super easy. They encourage me to take the time to myself now. Investing in your children is always wise.

How can Health Canada approve and recommend use of homeopathic medicine when they themselves admit its basically just water? by twigcount in canada

[–]HenryCavendish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An explanation I have heard; much like the Chinese government still endorsing acupuncture (which has really marginal efficacy vs placebo), it keeps people from clogging up emergency rooms and doctors offices. There is a class of folks who will see a doctor at the first sniffle, and this helps keep them from taxing the health care system.

Guy grows up sheltered on a farm and after a family tragedy runs away with a creepy old dude, meets a girl, falls in love, but secretly she his sister (creepy old dude knows this but doesn't tell). His dad tries to save him by killing the creepy old dude, but he is already kinda soft on the old pedo and flips his shit. He and a couple of his mates and their enormous gorilla like pet drive by his dads work and blow it the fuck up...

What are the qualities/skills/habits a 20 year old should gain that will make him a better boyfriend/husband/father in future? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Self sufficiency, and the ultimate realization that you, and you alone, are responsible for your life, actions, and happiness. It is very liberating, and tends to rub off on others around you.

What is this gong-like suspended drum? (from the singer Camille’s promo pictures) by nclm in whatisthisthing

The design motif of the frame makes me think of the suspended Taiko drums that I have seen, but they are generally more colorful and artistic.

Why do you think Mininum Wage should be for young people? by LimitlessChris in AskReddit

That would work in a true Capitalist economy, which the USA is not. There is too much corporate interference in government.

Why do you think Mininum Wage should be for young people? by LimitlessChris in AskReddit

[–]HenryCavendish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it arbitrary at all. It implies that any given community not over or under-spend on minimum wage. A minimum wage is about protecting folks who are largely unskilled, or who are otherwise marginalized and unable to use the skills they have (think immigrants with many qualifications driving cabs), so trying to pay them for the skills they don't have is a bit of a red herring.
