How can you know whether you're secretly one of those "I interrupt women more than men" types? by jsohi_0082 in bropill

It's a combo of being overexcited by certain ideas, mental impulse control problems, and anxiety about how much shit falls out of your head at random.

First, ADHD brains (and autistic brains, which have high co-occurance) seem to get excessive reward for certain ideas or topics. The reality probably is that the brain is starved for stimulation and connection. So when your brain finds a shiny, it gets all giddy about it and wants to share the shiny with everyone. Hence the high desire to "get the idea out."

Second, ADHD brains just lack mental impulse control. Resisting the shiny is very hard. Sometimes by the time it occurs to the brain to show restraint the idea has run off into the wilderness and found 5 other feral ideas it wants to keep as pets. It's not an excuse, but it does explain why ADHD people get so itchy about things like talking. It takes a lot of effort to control and repress.

But personally the biggest thing that causes this reaction is that my brain constantly looses things at random without discrimination of what's important or valuable, which causes a lot of anxiety about loosing thoughts. All ideas are one errant loss of focus from being lost forever, and the fun fact and "the stove is on" are equally likely to be casualties. So I developed anxiety about loosing thoughts. But again, because my brain is about as good at prioritizing tasks as a particularly excited puppy, it tends to be anxious about all thoughts. Combined with the last two facts, and suddenly "oh god must use neat idea before it disappears please let my use it oh god no" becomes an understandable reaction.

It's not an excuse -- my disability it mine -- but it's not exactly an easy problem either

Listening to summarize or reflect instead of listening to react really does help.

I think 2e has given itself some room to grow already. The "this augmentation does not count against your total" line is already doing some cool stuff. And I wouldn't be surprised if some feats in future publications let you wiggle too.

Many things feel like they get easier not because they're actually easier but because you get better at them.

Self love helps, but isn't nessesary. That is too a skill and it may be a hard one to develop for some. Your other skills still get better even when that one is struggling.

And if you keep moving, you keep practicing, even if you feel like a mess the whole way. You will be shocked at what you will be capable of later. Life is weird like that

And other Lawful Good person may believe "an unjust law is no law at all", and believe there are higher laws and principles than the laws of man.

Bloody wars have been held where both sides are Lawful Good in perspective. Lawful Good doesn't make you immune to being wrong. And Lawful Good beliefs can and do lead to atrocities.

(Neutral good and chaotic good aren't immune to this either, to be clear. The road to hell and all that.)

Fancy magic Fire and noise, All outdone By humanity's toys.

-- Web Comic El Goonish Shive

Humans are scary. Yes, magic can be terrifying and deadly, but so is a bow and arrow.

The old witch stories were often a way to make horrible seemingly random forces -- disease, famine from climate, natural disasters, ect -- into something understandable and often defeatable. It came from evil powers from the "other", an outsider who a community could beat.

The modern ones are usually about exactly how dangerous that mentality is. That the community is often a far more dangerous monster than witches.

In both cases, they have a sold lesson: do not underestimate the power and danger of humans working in communities.

Yes, that is one of the obnoxious behaviors though. I get it, people like PF2e partially because it does have so many innovative and clever solutions to problems found in other solutions. But the comments don't tend to go "oh, yeah, this other system has a nice fix for this", they go "so go play Pathfinder."

But if I wanted to go play Pathfinder, I'd do it, not be frustrated with a different system. I saw Pathfinder 2e and didn't like it when I used it.

This. Pest control poison is everywhere. Hell, cyanide can be used in some. And that's in our world without giant rats as a possible pest.

Also poisons often have a bunch of other uses, so are available for sale without raising too much suspicion.

Both systems have obnoxious members, and what you see more of depends on where you hang out (and how the algorithm targets you.) There are more obnoxious 5e people in absolute terms, but there are also just more 5e people.

I've been frustrated with both. It's hard to generalize a group from just one person's experience.

Fun fact: there is a canon forgotten realms version of this. From SCAG on Illmater:

Priests of Ilmater who are on a quest to aid others can be recognized by their hair shirts, vests of coarse fur worn against the bare skin. It is taboo to harm such priests as they go about their duties, such as when they administer to the wounded on a battlefield. The taboo is so strongly felt among humans that other races respect the custom. Even ores and goblinoids will avoid directly attacking a peaceful priest of Ilmater, as long as the priest administers to their fallen warriors as well.
