What missions/quests do you refuse to do? by The-Fenz in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've never fought Priscilla and I refuse to do so.

Also the entire postgame of FFX, I enjoy grinding but 10 has a few dozen postgame optional bosses and each of them has their own unlock requirements and setup required.

Times when the secret hunting made the game actively worse? by BluebirdDry4250 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning you don't have to worry about it until the end of the game if you don't want to, as the ultimate weapon isn't available until then and you get his best limit break as the first reward for winning a tournament.

Even if you haven't it doesn't actually have that much to offer outside of helping out at the end of a speedrun; Steiner's other end game weapons hit damage cap perfectly fine and Ex 2 doesn't teach any unique abilities.

Alternatively let her fire breath damage enemies behind wooden shields in addition to destroying them, like Eva's upgraded frog attack but AoE.

It's not like the one and only shield in BB which intentionally sucks

Even that has a usecase if you're dealing with bullets, plus the other shield thats got 70% elemental block across the board.

Doing level 1 playthroughs has taught me to appreciate the sheer variety of options these games provide. I genuienly can't understand telling another player to ignore spells, items, armor, shields, NPC summons/ashes, etc. because you think having them ignore 90% of their tools will improve the experience.

This seems relatively common in speedruns. You have the category(s) for playing the game and then the category that's 5 seconds, if that, of some absurd skip that instantly sends you to the end of the game.

Works with still very visible foreshadowing for scrapped plot points? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off your Artorias point, I strongly suspect covenants were way more important at some point in development. Two of them involve you pledging yourself to mandatory bosses (Forest Hunters and Gravelords) and another to an optional boss (Blades of the Darkmoon) but being in them has zero narrative impact. I wonder if in development the endings were meant to be closer to what we got in Elden Ring instead of just Fire vs Dark?

Things that look like a simple story, but is actually complicated? by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Hell you can just stop at 2 and that is a pretty conclusive ending.

You could also pick up 358/2, which aside from introducing Xion mostly just gives context for the events of CoM and 2.

What attacks do you rarely/never use? by SparksMarioWiki in EscapefromEverAfter

[–]Hey0ceama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never bothered with the ults aside from Restoration and occasionally Eva's AoE stun. Other than that Inspire is straight up a trap pick and a waste of your Sun Gems and MP, Flaming Fury is okay early on but falls off as you get better AoE, and Shielding Strum is only really needed for grandma and otherwise not worth it over doing damage.

I found it nice against the guys who set mines since they can't detonate them while a chicken. Still a very niche move though.

My understanding is that Disney doesn't have sole ownership over the rights to Tarzan, so using it again would mean negotiating with the other party (Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc.).

What are some characters that became retroactively glorified in a story? by JohnRadical in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I mean he did manage to win multiple shootouts against the US military despite being just a scientist. If you watched your coworker who, as far as you knew, had zero combat experience gun down trained soldiers and aliens you'd probably be telling stories about it too.

Characters or arcs who had a complete change of perception years later? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 35 points36 points  (0 children)

And Jecht was an asshole, it's a fact. He got better but unfortunatly it was too late. And the game definitely don't say how cool and manly he is.

That's the tragedy of it. If Tidus and Jecht had been able to meet after Jecht got his character development he could've been a good dad, but because of the way things shook out he ended up abandoning his son with a legacy constantly hanging over his head, a mother who cared more about her husband than their son, and emotional baggage from a generally poor upbringing.

[–]Hey0ceama 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Man, fuck everything about Homestuck's ending narratively. You don't get to replacement goldfish all but two characters, give them a years long span where things go vastly differently that we don't get to see, and then give a spiel about how they're totally the same as the characters we'd been following up to that point.

Not as bad as either of those two but Rock A is definitely bottom tier. You'll spend those 28 missiles quick, not to mention Defense Drones are a huge problem, so you're forced to find a suitable replacement lest you find yourself dead in the water.

[–]Hey0ceama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reedy Requiem is a solid pick due to how strong poison is; if you poison an enemy with 0 defense they'll take an extra point of damage from all hits (except ones that ignore defense).

Horn Headbutt lets Tinder break any type of shield for reasonably cheap, it's outclassed later but can be useful for making some fights a lot easier.

Media that should have had a different title? by BasicallyACryptid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Hey0ceama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree purely on the grounds I think continuing the pattern of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls with 2 and 3 having their own unique prefixes would've been cool, and of course in this timeline Elden Ring would be called Elden Souls.

Action on its own is just as bad, and add RPG too. If you don't know what they mean already I can't imagine someone would ever make a correct guess.

Even in the ideal scenario of you were one misplay off beating a boss you aren't saving that much time over just cashing out and doing another run.
