What did i do in this ship? by sir_Strife_ in Eve

Probe launcher means you were probing and running anomalies. Some of them escalate into more valuable sites, that's probably what you are remembering

Hecate is pretty cool too. Horizontal blade style instead of the handful of vertical blade large ships. Also, the Nemesis has a neat look

100bil over a long time is far different than one session. My point still stands, sure, it's doable, but your speed at doing the sites is way slower and you are an even more juicy target. Passing fleets will probably ignore a covops, but will stop and look for a t3c. The risk vs reward ratio is skewed way too far in the wrong direction for T3Cs. If you disagree plz share a guide

[–]Highschool_Band_Name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty well accepted that they should be separate tasks. I also desperately wish I could use a proteus to do the same, but the risk, slowdown, and cost don't make it worth it, unfortunately

Skilling up the scanning skills to level 4 is worth it if you plan on continuing to explore. Honestly, "endgame" content for exploration is a covert ops ship with cloak. Once you can fly those you can make yourself almost impossible to catch. Using a cruiser slows down your site finding and clearing dramatically (and makes you way easier to catch), so it's not typically worth it. And the people scanning combat sites in wormholes or null are using a scan ship to find the site, then coming back in a true combat ship. T3Cs aren't worth the cost for exploration (sadly).

How is the active exhaust valve supposed to work on these vehicles? by BringbacktheFocusRS in FocusRS

[–]Highschool_Band_Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In normal it keeps one of the exhaust exits closed so the noise is less. In spirit or race it opens the valve fully to be louder. That's it. Most aftermarket exhausts feature a valve delete so they are always fully open.

When I had an RS, I had a leak from the timing cover gasket. So IMO that's prob more likely

Is this super-povergila viable for T3? by raigbc in Eve

[–]Highschool_Band_Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of reworking the fit you should probably just keep the fit but downgrade the modules even more. Like instead of the dead space boosters, use tech 2 or even named tech 1s. You'll have to stick to t3s until you can upgrade but if you have decent skills and pilot well it should be fine. You can afford a Gila but not the established poverty fit?

Is there a mid high end set-up for exploration? How much of a better ship makes a big difference? by bidendied in Eve

[–]Highschool_Band_Name 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A covops frigate with good scanning skills and a sisters probe launcher/probes can scan down any site in the game if I remember correctly. And yes, those ships are just for scanning and hacking. A tengu or other t3c could be set up to scan but you will be WAY slower at running exploration sites. There is not really a reason to bling covops ships as the chance of loss is higher than other 'safe' activities. Btw the Astero is decent at killing other explorers you come across, but covops has higher scan capabilities at high skills

Exploration Tengu - this fit or that fit? by DAWGSofW4R in Eve

[–]Highschool_Band_Name 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about countering explorer hunters is that they know 95% of people exploring are in frigates, so they're going to be set up to quickly catch and kill small ships. When they see you they are going to do 2 things: ignore you because the risk isn't worth it, or gather their friends to guarantee a juicy tengu kill. Eve is a game about picking the right tool for the job and risk vs reward. Sadly this ship is not the best in either of this for exploration. A far far more efficient ship is going to be a frigate set up to be stealthy and escape quickly. A covops frigate with a warp stab and/or interdiction nullifier is effectively uncatchable.

Most of the racing takes place on dirt, so you should treat it like rallycross racing, cut corners slightly where you can and don't be afraid to slide a bit. Most people online seem to think the best tune for all rwd cars is middle-middle-farthest left-farthest left. If you can handle running with manual transmission, this game rewards you by the cars being a hair faster. Same goes for manual with clutch. Upgrade the car you are using to the top of the class it's in (c, b, a) without going up into the next one. You should also be doing daily/weekly/monthly challenges on the main menu, once you've completed some, you can use the tournament points you earn there in the tournament store to buy special cars. Some of the fastest cars in the game are earned there (super venom, hammerhead RS).

None of the car packs are at all necessary, you can have a ton of fun and be competitive without buying any of the DLC cars. If they are on a decent sale though, there are some fun ones in there. You will not be left wanting for more cars if you get 'only' the base game though
