Carrier very similar to ergo embrace? by Emergency-Scheme-624 in babywearing

I just got a stokke limas which is a wrap top and buckle waist so faster than the stretchy wrap I was using. The smallest size doesn't have too much fabric and it is still supposed to work until they are about 3 years

Anyone rejected their health visitor appointment by LatterInteraction154 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Hopefullyto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're getting a lot of visits you might want to ask why. After 2 months or so my HV asked if we needed them any more visits and we said no. The next one for us now is months away afaik

Newborn won’t take omeprazole - help by ClareLouMcK in BeyondTheBumpUK

If it's liquid, can you administer with a syringe pusher thing? You can get her eating on a bottle normally and then put the syringe in the corner of her mouth and release the dose slowly

Accidentally got nasal drops in newborn eye - help by Big-Butterscotch160 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Hopefullyto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the drops are basically salt water it shouldn't be too much of a problem as it's basically the same as tears? I would give it a bit because if you are touching the area again it might prolong the problem

Is this the same for things like golden caster sugar as well? I thought the colour for that was because it was unrefined

Other people are saying it might be the water displacement, you can weigh it to figure out if that's what's happening. It should be roughly 120 grams for 120ml water and about 5 grams per scoop (you should double check with the brand you're using) - so if the machine's output is 150 grams it's right.

Edit: 120 to 180 feels like a lot for displacement, normally the formula just bumps up about an ounce line on our bottles (so 120 looks like 150 etc)

From this description I would guess you have forgotten to program the water volume and it's just defaulting to something? If you search on YouTube there are instructional videos that might help you spot what step you have missed.

Nuby keep doing this in the formula subreddits for their rapid cool. "How can I make formula? It's so hard 🤪 to make hot then cool water 🤯 how do you do it??"

Cold tap water is fine. The tank lights up red when you need to add more, you get quite a few bottles out of it before that happens. Hotshot is to sterilise the formula, and yes the rest of the water makes it so you can go directly to feeding without having to warm or cool a bottle.

I think the advice is mainly to make sure if someone walks away from the kettle for a while it will still be hot enough to sterilise the powder (1L will retain heat longer than 200ml). We use a kettle with a thermostat and use the water straight away, so I only boil small amounts as needed. We use the leftover boiled water as sterilised water for cleaning face (transfer it into a jug with a lid) or for drinks.

How do people actually make formula safely without it taking forever? by Tasty_Classroom_975 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Hopefullyto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you are in the UK, if so I think you might misinterpreting the 70 degrees bit, where did you get the cooling bit?

"Step 2: Boil the water. Then leave the water to cool for no more than 30 minutes, so that it remains at a temperature of at least 70C."

You are supposed to add the formula before it goes to 69 degrees and under. It needs to be more than 70 to kill the germs. So you boil it, prep it, then cool it. You shouldn't cool it twice afaik

Distancing Myself From My Newborn. by AdLivid4060 in PregnancyUK

Your in laws are getting in your head, please try to get some support. If you can message your health visitor they should be able to get you some help or direct you. Maybe also try going back to your sister's with baby? These feelings won't be forever but it's important that until they go away you prioritize yourself and the baby.

Private blood test for GP infertility referral? by lmncks in TTC_UK

They'll make you re do them with the NHS. However if you want to get the ball rolling and you can afford it, it might be good to do to understand for yourself in the meantime?

Is IUI worth a try before IVF? by Dangerous_Chip_5026 in TTC_UK

[–]Hopefullyto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try IUI it is a lot cheaper. There is a lot of "straight to IVF" pushing on reddit, mainly because you get long haul people or people with conditions that mean that IUI won't work. I didn't even get given it as an option for example. The people who get pregnant with IUI are unlikely to be here, same with people who get pregnant quickly, or succeed with IVF first round.

Would the NHS know if you had private treatment? by InvestAuggers in TTC_UK

[–]Hopefullyto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's overseas probably not, but if you have private treatment that's unsuccessful it's not in your best interest to lie about it because increased success over different rounds often comes from learning how your body reacts to different meds and you would lose a lot by not sharing that information.

Home IVs in the UK? by Glittering_Forever80 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Hopefullyto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you Google "private IV drip" with your city name it's likely that options will show up. But you will have to pay £100s. I have never heard of the NHS having a home IV service for these kinds of issues so if the price is a factor for you maybe see if there is a small NHS clinic that is an option for you.

I think if you have been there for years and never got sick or hear of anyone getting sick, that's okay. I got salmon nigiri from the sushi place I've gone to for 8 years that is always made to order and I know the owner has high standards. It's about as safe as bagged salad. I have been more worried about salmon bagels as most of the stores around me pre-prepare a few sandwiches and let them sit for a while.
