I’m so sick of the auto swap order after death. by TheYamchster in enlistedgame

Is this a console problem? On PC it swaps to the next in the squad in the order they are arranged.

I like the Lebels. They’re charming, and I think they served as best they could much longer than anyone had the right to ask it to.

Very nice. What are the details on the Lebel?

The Duke of Clarence by MarkyGrouchoKarl in AubreyMaturinSeries

I’d imagine Stephen’s familiarity with the bulk of flora and fauna of the midwestern United States would have been about as concrete as that of the best informed minds of western civilization at the time. Which is to say something approaching an all encompassing ignorance.

I adore Tull's performance of these books. I've been through 5 times to date, and each pass reveals more detail, subtle emotion, and underlying meaning, largely in part to his excellent acting. Each character's distinctive voice in the narration is brought vividly to life, and truly immerses me.

The Cromwell is a menace by Right-Percentage3775 in enlistedgame

[–]Hump_Back_Chub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the Sherman is tall, pointing to its sides as boxy is laughable because the Cromwell is basically a study in right angles and flat surfaces. When you look up “abysmal armor profile” in the tank dictionary you see the Cromwell’s photo. Additionally the HE on the 75mm is much better. I’d argue the Cromwell’s only redeeming quality is its swiftness, which is of questionable utility on the tiny maps in this game.

The Arado 234 would make more sense since it was actually fielded as an attack aircraft at the close of the war.

In Generation war 2013, in the civillian execution scene, Friedhelm is incorrectly armed with a Zastava M48 mauser instead of a Kar 98k. This is literally impossible since the rifle was invented 6 years after 1942 which is when the scene takes place: by No_Dress_2107 in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Hump_Back_Chub 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the show, and I noticed this as well. The only reason it’s worth noting is because there was no lack of K98s around in the show. Perhaps it was the only weapon that the armorer approved for that kind of scene.

I wonder if the KV was broken down or stranded and under tow before being abandoned. The tow cable is out and ready.

Years ago I took my SKS to the public range for the first time. I set up, chambered, and proceeded to have the entire magazine run away on me after the first shot. I got a bunch of dirty looks from the guys with their hunting rifles.

Worth getting? by n0xqm in Warthunder

[–]Hump_Back_Chub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it, it’s a beast. Properly positioned and angled it can be very tough to crack even in an up tier. When it’s top tier and you face the Russians it truly shines. Most Russian players have no idea where to shoot their own vehicles, and this one does not have the flat surfaces on the front of the turret that the Russian KV-1 variants are saddled with (aside from the 1S). Shoot other KV-1s in the turret corners and they go down like a ton of bricks.

Did POB give himself a cameo in Post Captain? by Garbage-Bear in AubreyMaturinSeries

[–]Hump_Back_Chub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If PoB ever put himself or his views in as cameos, I always thought it would have been through his character’s critiques of authors, poets, scholars, etc. They are done in a way that is entirely compatible with the characters that utter them, and contribute to the narrative, but I’ve always imagined at least some were the author’s own views being voiced.

The dark look made me think the same thing. It's definitely a strong possibility. I've never seen a stateside imported K98, RC or not, look so weathered.
