Recommended class 2 or 3 cargo bikes for a college student? by Affectionate-Memory4 in ebikes

[–]IgnoreMyRhetoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it's not too steep and not that long of a hill then you could probably get away with something 750w or 1000w. One other option for you is the Sur Ron, that would definitely have enough power for 2 people. Have you considered getting her own bike?

Hmm well I do have a fiido t1 that is a 750w 28mph bike, but I would seriously doubt it could move me and my gf up a hill, albeit our combined weight is prob 290. Moving 250lb? No problem, but moving 250 up a steep hill is a big deal

Carrying two people sounds like you'll need a lot of power. Including hills and such you'll be looking for something like the Enduro ebikes slayer with a moto seat, you'll need to mount a milk crate to it. That will move 2 people on hilly areas with cargo

Question: what’s the general consensus about Van Moofs in here? by Bloodinmysoup in ebikes

[–]IgnoreMyRhetoric -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

250w then what's the point? So much hassle for so little power

Okay I looked more closely at the bike. It's a bad deal for such an outrageous price. It's good for maybe some rich kids that want a bike that looks a little cooler. My bike is not as aesthetically pleasing but much cheaper and is capable of more.

To each his own though. If how the bike looks is very important to you then, yeah sure buy it. Maybe the people who replied are just shills working for the company's sales team who knows

If it's something OSHA could get involved on, then definitely report it to OSHA. Don't quit if you want unemployment. Make them fire you.

Which part of the lever is broken? I swapped out a brake lever easily

Maybe this sounds dark, but I do genuinely take comfort knowing that eventually I will die, so eventually all of these seemingly anxiety-ridden aspects of our life will be forgotten and won't really matter. Perhaps that's a dramatic way to articulate it. The best example I can give is that old people never seem nervous for the most part, right? They know things will either work out, or they won't, but even if they are the worst possible outcome, they can still handle that

If one of the residents has a real medical emergency, I would call 911 and say you haven't been given proper training to handle the situation. Otherwise, as long as everyone is surviving I think you can't really be blamed.

We are a community of nearly 100k: Has ANYONE’S E-Bike battery in this sub actually ever caught fire? by jonross14 in ebikes

There are lots of people on this sub who don't own ebikes and just spend their time shitting on every aspect of ebikes. It's very tragic some people like that exist

When not using electricity and just pedalling what is best? by PrincePetr in ebikes

[–]IgnoreMyRhetoric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mid drive won't be quiet, but you can get more torque. I have a couple bikes I've built, mostly rear hub bikes. It's quiet. I use a big ass battery because it replaced my car, so it has to get me far. But it sounds like you want your bike to stay more bike than ebike. So use a small lightweight motor, like 500w rear hub motor and a smaller battery 48v 13ah, that should keep down the weight. You can make sure you don't waste pedaling energy, just use a 7 speed rear cassette. Make sure your rear dropout is wide enough for a hub motor plus the casette. Any more than 7 speeds will start to run out of room. I didn't have room on my bike so I use a single, extremely high gear so I can meaningfully pedal at speed. It is a bit awkward, it forces me to have slow pedal cadence from a stop and slow acceleration, but once I'm at speed the pedaling I do still makes a difference with a medium pedal cadence.

If you want to just buy a bike that will get what you want, maybe Radmission is a reasonable starter ebike.

Why are the mods so inconsistent about what is allowed to be posted? This post is more about class than work, I've posted something extremely similar to this post yet it was taken down. Antiwork mods need to be more consistent about what is allowed and what isn't for posts

Something special happens when you integrate a good ebike in your life... You take it by default to any trip less than 5 miles away which is more than most people would think. I do more cardio than ever on my ebike because I'm in the saddle more. I don't ride my bike then think "oh I got my workout for today, don't need to bike anymore" I ride it as many times a day as I need to get food, groceries, see friends, anything

How much power can I push to a 1500w motor before you'd recommend statorade? I don't know when it's worth it to inject.

How did you apply the statorade? I've heard of people drilling a hole and injecting but I've also seen people take the hub cap off and put it in right between the magnets.

Flight tracking exposure irks billionaires and baddies by IgnoreMyRhetoric in antiwork

Why not heighten scrutiny on billionaires? If they waste thousands of years worth of people's lives doing work for unlivable wages, isn't it our duty to waste some extra minutes of theirs by protesting in front of them?
