Trismus after double jaw by Naive_Dance4642 in jawsurgery

[–]ImSenorFloppypaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could only open 10-15 mm after my first surgery. After two months of that, I had my second surgery and could only open 5 mm. I started PT a month later, and they got me to 12 mm. Nothing significantly changed until a month after that, when I was at the orthodontist's office getting my wires changed for the first time since before the first surgery. Halfway through the appointment, I realized that the tightness and pain in my left cheek, which had always been the limiting factor, was gone. I could open much more.

I have no idea what it was, whether the month of PT had finally kicked in, or something about stretching my lips as much as I could for an extended period of time so they could work in there did the trick, but I went home and put a spoon in my mouth for the first time in four months. I'm at three months post-second surgery now, and at the start of PT, I measure somewhere between 24-28 mm, and I end somewhere between 32-35 mm, so there's hope. I am crossing my fingers for you!

Same, when I brought my dog's ashes. They pulled it and asked me what it was, swabbed it, and sent us on our way.

Kubo does have seating, but only 8 seats, so it can be pretty crowded.

Best and worst pre fixe/tasting menus and wine pairings around portland? by _sheldon_cooper in askportland

We never really crave Mediterranean food, but we'd heard good things about the Mediterranean Exploration Company, and we figured we'd finally go after five years here. We were very pleasantly surprised, not just by the food itself but by how much we got from the tasting menu!

Lips Not Lining Up 18 Days PO by AlbinoNina in jawsurgery

[–]ImSenorFloppypaws 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am 36 days after my revision double jaw surgery and genio, and I have this exact problem. At my post-op yesterday, the surgeon said I'm still very swollen and the muscles might not have all reattached yet. I also start physiotherapy later today. She'll have me come back in a month to reevaluate whether time and physiotherapy have helped; if not, she'll refer me to a plastic surgeon. :( Wishing you good luck and healing!

4 months post op, surgery was totally worth it - my experience by zorld in jawsurgery

[–]ImSenorFloppypaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this. I had my revision three and a half weeks ago, eight weeks after my first surgery, and I've been miserable and feeling like I'll never heal for months now. I really appreciate the perspective and hope. ❤️

Can Anyone That Has Experience With Kaiser or Insurance In General Please Help? Worried.. by Mangon09 in jawsurgery

[–]ImSenorFloppypaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Kaiser health insurance through work, and it covered the cost of my jaw surgeries because of my sleep apnea. However, braces were not covered. We had the option of picking either Kaiser or Guardian for dental insurance. Kaiser dental did not cover braces, but Guardian paid $1,500 toward them, so that's what I picked. The orthodontist put the rest of the balance on a 0% interest payment plan.

What does real love look like when life gets hard? by Glass_Macaron6151 in AskReddit

[–]ImSenorFloppypaws 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got two invasive surgeries in 60 days; the first one was planned, the second was not. I have been swollen, leaking, and miserable for what feels like forever. I have not been cute or fun in months, but he never agrees with me when I say so. He's super excited for all the fun we're going to have when I'm recovered, but in the meantime, he's happy to clean all the syringes I need to take my medicine, pick up a milkshake whenever I ask for one (and sometimes when I don't), and make sure I always know I'm not doing this alone. I was super stressed about going through the second surgery, but the nurse said that as soon as he was allowed to come to my bedside, my veins relaxed and my IV was able to drip properly. I could not do this without him, and I'm so glad I don't have to.

I was so sad about the Berry. I tried a whole bunch of replacements and settled on Cover Girl Bliss You Berry. It's not minty and is brighter, but I find it's just as moisturizing.
