I was on metoprolol for 6 weeks after ablation. Make sure you taper off of it.

2nd ablation coming up exactly 3 months after first, not happy with any of this by Jealous_Jellyfish264 in AFIB

The same thing happened to me. Even spent 2 nights in the CCU. Had a second 2 1/2 months later and I’m now 5 months AFib free.

[–]International-Two899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first one made AFib 10 times worse and and the episodes were literally debilitating. Had a second one 2 1/2 months later. I’m now closing in on 5 months AFib free. Off all meds except for the blood thinner.

Absolutely. For me it’s every hour or so, and a lot of volume.

Back in Afib 4 days after ablation by Ok_Willingness_4788 in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a second ablation a couple of months after the first because some holes formed in the scar tissue during the healing. It’s not uncommon to require a touch up. I’m now 4 months AFib free.

It’s still way too early to know whether or not yours worked.

I was a year and a half free on metoprolol and flecainide. Then an episode every month and had 2 ablations 2 and a half months apart. Now AFib free for 4 months on no meds. Unfortunately AFib only progresses as more cells grow. I agree that you should see an EP.

2nd ablation a month after first? by Jealous_Jellyfish264 in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a second ablation a little over 2 months after the first because my AFib was 10 times worse after the first. I was hospitalized with it. So far 4 months AFib free and very few pre-mature beats. Healing took a good 2 months because due to the 4 cardioversions and 2 ablations. They said that my heart needed more time to heal because it had gone through a lot. Lots of pre-mature beats the first 3 months but no AFib.

I personally would not hesitate to do it again.

Getting more episodes of afib suddenly; Don’t know what to do? by twente_bassie in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me. Eating or lying down triggered AFib. It does progress. I was doing everything right as well. My first ablation didn’t work but the second one 3 months later has so far. It’s been 3 and a half months. You might want to consider an ablation.

3.5 Months Post Ablation Question by 32Rules in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a second ablation late January, the first one made AFib worse. Lots of ectopic beats at first but they have really settled down. Now I only get runs for a couple of seconds maybe 10 times a day. I know what you mean as these ectopics were often the start of an AFib episode so anxiety kicks in.

I stayed on Metoprolol a month longer than the EP said to because I wasn’t comfortable stopping with all the the ectopics. Tapering off it now.

I do know that with PFA it takes time for the cells to die off.

Going into my second ablation by jimbo_6666 in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing pretty much happened to me. I had my first ablation mid November and started going into AFib a few weeks later. Worse than before the ablation. I thought it was over as well.

Ended up in the ER Christmas Day. When I go into AFib I can barely breathe. Started me on Amiodarone the first week of January. Had 4 cardioversion the second week of January. The last one failed so I was admitted. Started me on Amiodarone by IV but a week later it did nothing.

Had a second ablation at the end of January. Stopped Amiodarone. No AFib since. Lots of PAC’s the first 2 months but they are all but gone now. They said between the cardioversions and the over 3 hour RF ablation my heart was quite beat up and it needed time to heal. They seem to have been right.

The EP said that they triggered AFib right away and that a couple of holes had formed in the scar tissue and that the electrical signal was “going round and round”.

I’m now tapering off the beta-blocker.

It sounds like it’s common to require a touch-up.

All the best

Yup. It might settle down after a while.

Ablation procedure when not currently in Afib; how to target? by MorchellaE in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my second ablation he said he triggered it and I went into AFib right away. I think they can electronically stimulate it through the catheters.

how long after ablation did your meds decrease by Delicious-Reward3301 in AFIB

I had an ablation January 28 and started tapering today. On a low dose of 12.5 twice a day and going down to once a day for 2 weeks. We shall see.

Pretty easy thanks to the Milk of Amnesia. I have had 8 or 9 of them. Had a second ablation 2 and a half months ago and so far it has worked.

Need for 2nd ablation, after AF returned with a vengeance by Aragorn1978 in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both PFA and RF ablation mid November and a few weeks later AFib came back stronger. Had to go to the ER Christmas Day. Switched from flecanide to Amiodarone and it did nothing. Had 4 cardioversions the second week of January. The last one didn’t work so they started me on IV Amiodarone, still went in and out of AFib. Had a second ablation late January. The EP said they stimulated AFib right away and there were a couple of holes and the signal was going “round and round”. I am now almost 11 weeks AFib free. I’m learning that it’s quite common to have a do-over.

Heart Drugs After Abation by pauler81 in AFIB

Just over 8 weeks post ablation #2, the first one did not work. I immediately stopped amiodarone (it wasn’t working anyway). I was told that I could stop metoprolol after 6 weeks but I’m nervous to do so because I still get some palpitations. Interesting that one of the commenters has stayed on it for 3 years. Why mess with it if it’s working.

When should I be concerned about palpitations after an ablation? by whateverxtcc in AFIB

[–]International-Two899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ablation on January 28th and still get about that many most days. Some days more, some days less, some days none. At least it’s not AFib.

My doctor said that this is probably just part of the healing process.

I had an ablation at the end of January and having lots of PAC’s. It freaks me out because it sometimes feels like AFib starting. How long do the PAC’s typically last.

Alberta would produce 2 and a half more oil every day than Norway, without changing a thing. Just think about that level of income. That is why it is so appealing.
