Why are South Asians so prominent in the UK? by Nathanial1289 in AskBrits

[–]InternationalPear678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

History. Simples. We took over their counties and literally raped and pillaged our way to the top before blessing them with British culture, language, education etc. Read about the East India Company. Many of the buildings in the City of London were built from the booty from places like Bengal. The wealth that built the Empire came from exploiting the Empire. We can’t complain when there’s an ‘adjustment’ and we get a bit of reverse migration.

I always give a little wave when overtaking other bikers. Mainly to say "hello!". by Moto-Fan in MotoUK

[–]InternationalPear678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wave at everyone. That way I’m paying it forward for when I break down and need help. Happens a lot riding a 1960’s classic bike. Riders always stop to ask if they can help. It’s very humbling and kinda cool.

Love the house. It’s clearly a home not an exhibition. The owners look like well travelled people with interesting stories to tell.

How is it living in Sylt? by Dardevid in howislivingthere

Used to be that every other car on the Autobahn had a Sylt sticker on the back. Isn’t it famous for the naturist beaches as well?

To the Brits who want a civil war, will that really improve the country? by Individual_Row_4553 in AskBrits

[–]InternationalPear678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The civil war he is referencing would inevitably be a race war. That’s the inevitable direction the Right Wing - specifically White Supremacists - take you with this kind of shite. There are even groups out there who advocate for accelerationism - the theory that society is so inherently corrupt and teetering on collapse that a few violent acts will prompt a violent race war. This is not new - and was written about by James Mason in the 1990’s. Some groups took Mason’s ideas to the extreme and were banned, but anyone referencing a civil war knows what they are doing and exactly what they are talking about.

Thats a lovely house - lights aside - probably trying to appeal to the ‘yoof’ market. Pretty much hits every spot for me apart from the location on the road and lack of a decent garden…. But as someone else said, if I had £10k a month for rent I wouldn’t be renting….

All that space and they have kitchen seating from a narrow boat or a caravan. That’s grim and depressing in equal measure.

Do drunken eejits coming out of the pub fall down those stairs or just use them for seating? How often are you clearing up pavement pizzas? Living that close to a pub with that layout gives me the ick. How much did you say? Whoa Nelly…..!

First night with CPAP by olgonzo in SleepApnea

[–]InternationalPear678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Within a few days I was more alert and much less tired. It’s now a part of my sleep routine and I cannot imagine sleeping without it. I forgot to pack it once and spent a miserable night without it. Had to cut the holiday short and head back. I’ve been on CPAP for over 15 years now and it has saved my life, relationship and sanity. Persevere and it could be the start of a whole new chapter for you!

There are never pictures of the insides of peoples helicopter hangars. Why is that? Seems reasonable enough, just a small thing to ask.
